Wow, WA is getting some great deals!

  • Want it in Sydney ….. lol

  • Great deal! aahhhh…unfortunately can't make out due to work timing :(

NO web ordering??? Back to the cavemen days….

  • Shame for those of us in Perth that have jobs. Surely deals like this would be better if run on a Saturday or times when most people can actually get into the store? Still a bargain though if you can actually make it in to get one.

How can it be a bargain if you can't get one ???

  • When I clicked on this URL there were 88 clicks.. hahaha… Enough for a sign for me to get a lotto ticket.

  • These drives are known to have issues. I would not recommend them. They are the same drives used in the Astone ap-306t dvr/pvr devices which have been plauged with problems. Obviously they still probably have a warranty, but a warranty will only replace the drive, it won't replace all of your lost data.

    • Yep, I have been told I will get replacement for mine in my Astone AP-360T Media PVR. Issues they say with firmware compatibility. Enough for me to stay away as well.

  • funnily enough this is the 888 drive ie the lucky drive yet it has major issues i bet the guys building it were to busy gambling lol

  • i don't see it listed as $50 on the web. do i have to actually go into the shop and ask about it being $50? would be a pain if it's not.

read the post title…. it says walk in only no web order

      • well, the people below answer my question…. was this a false deal or bait and switch?

  • Was along the way so I went in to enquire on the offer and was told by the salesperson that the offer is on tommorrow not today =(

I just drove 40 minutes round trip to go into the shop.
They would not honor the deal, despite explaining how far I'd driven & waving cash under noses.
Nothing about it being tomorrow only in their post above.
    I am very disappointed.

I have never used Netplus before. I will never darken their door again with service like that….and am in the market for a new self build PC too.

    • it doesn't say that so you should at least have been able to get one for your effort, and in the mean time they change the details

    • Austin Computers. Never had any problems & alot of my much 'geekier' friends swear by them.

      • Last time I went there they have two prices.
They tried to charge me more than it was listed on the internet.
Apparently they have a "net price" and "store price" is a complete joke.
All I had to say was the net price and they quickly adjusted my invoice.

Are they still trying that one?

        • I believe they still have a net price and an in-store price.
The net price may possibly be cheaper as you pay on-line then head straight to the 'pick-up point', rather than pay in-store, saving a bit on overheads, transaction fees, etc. At least thats my understanding.
I have heard good things about Netplus, Austin and PLE, so I generally just go for the cheapest of the three. Although I'm still waiting on PLE to call me about a laptop charger they 'specially ordered in' two years ago…

          • @AnthonyH87: Try MSY Balcatta (cnr wanneroo and reid)!
Great prices and I've never had to wait long.

I don't mind Netplus for buying HDD's, etc. But after being ripped off because they sold me faulty ram and wanted me to pay an $80 service fee (because I had no compatible machine for that memory type) so that they would test and replace the ram if faulty. (… and yes it was the ram) But they provided me with a list of fictitious other problems with my PC build (somehow I think not, I've now built 26 PC's without one stuff up - for example, the guy told me that I had placed the CPU in the motherboard the wrong way, etc. ) Sounds like a good way to try and justify charging me $80.

    • Positive removed because of this.

Fairly important point that should have been included in the post.

    • That is disappointing indeed given that it wasn't stated on the OP.

    • well, I was going to drive up to get one but common sense told me to give them a call prior just to check stock and availability… violia.. and I was told it starts tomorrow.

A phone call can save a lot of trouble for some… thou I must agree that it is pretty stupid not to include the start date / time

      • :o thanks that help me out, wasn't sure if i should ring them. Almost took Trance N Dance's reply and visit the shop to ask about the HDD.. which would have wasted 1hour or more(traffic congestion atm, and round trip)

Robs12, and only for you. Apologies for any stuff ups. Please send an email to [email protected] and substantiate that you are indeed robs12 with your full name and address. I will send you one of these drive for free.

  • Too late now, I won't be going back.
Shop was otherwise empty, so good luck to them if they want to turn away cash in current climate!!

    • Hmm… that's no good. Especially when there was no mention of it being tomorrow. I agree that they should've sold one to you for going all the way. I too have had bad experiences with computer companies and their policies. It's not like they will make a loss if they sold you one today.

I'd vote negative for bad customer service / policy, and for not giving OZBargainers proper details as a rep.

  • I too was going to give it a + as i got 1 from them last time and its a good deal - that was till i read about robs12 experience. That was quite bad customer service. They should know that things like this spread through the net and that they will get a bad name. If i was them i would give robs12 a free hd to make up for all the trouble he went through.

    • revoking my negative after reps reply to robs12

  • Not a fan of this walk in crap…

    • Stand in a queue and be lucky to get one, after spending an hour trying to find parking.
    • People start getting their kids to buy one each.

Just put it on here (with a link or code) and monitor your stock levels.
Reward the ozbargain users and continue to provide competitive prices.
I tend to shop at Netplus quite a bit, but always avoid this sort of crap.

    • Definately each to their own! I agree, and would never go to Myers the day after boxing day!

That's why we offer deals for each sort of customers.

      • -1

But this deal is not available to me… unless i pay a $600 airline ticket…

    • if i remember right, there are 6 parking spot outside of netplus in OB. you can get further parking by parking at supre ot the shop next store.

  • Thanks for the info bakaneko, it took me ten minutes(had to circle for awhile as parking nearby was marked for other businesses) to find parking as the spots right outside were filled. Netplus, how about a free drive for me too =)

  • Netplus, I have just e-mailed you reference your kind offer above - I appreciate the effort to make good.

Whilst we can't rewrite history (& I fail to understand the logic in turning me away empty handed this afternoon), I will retract the part of my post about never darkening your door again! Hope you are busy tomorrow!

    • Your freebie is now processed and will be posted out tomorrow.

      Thank You for your understanding.

  • It's good to see that the rep is willing to lose money to rectify a customer issue. That is good customer service, even if it wasn't provided in store. It's unfortunate that it wasn't posted in the listing initially, and I think they should've honoured it for you on the spot (and then run out the back to OzBargain and edit) - but nevertheless, good job rectifying the problem.

Not for me — because I'd rather my time than my money (in this case, at least), but definitely a great bargain.

  • The only reason the rep is willing to rectify the situation is because of the publicity they are getting on OZ Bargains.

    • and that may be the case, but i'm quite sure that in any business there has been the case of a staff member making a mistake and it having to be rectified somehow. I think netplus has done everything within their power to rectify it, and if its good enough for rob12, then it should be good enough for us. just shows retailers are humans too. nice resolution netplus.

  • when sydney got similar deal?

  • +3

For the record, it's more than good enough for me, and I was pleasantly surprised. My opinion has changed and as I said previously, I may well be visiting again as a result.

Reputation is all (well, almost) & in this instance it has been salvaged IMHO. Mistake made, solution above & beyond expectations. [A lesson for Dell?! ;-)]

I am a sourcing manager (procurement) for a large international company - if some of my suppliers reacted like this when they got it wrong then I would be a lot happier!!

calm down mate. Christmas season. be happy u will get reward on this month :)

  • Excellent deal - and very nice offer from rep to robs12 - i would be very impressed with an outcome like this.

  • +1

The only reason that its not able to be posted is that they want you to come in to the store and browse for other things whilst you are there. Fair enough deal if you live nearby but for the other 99.99% of Australia, we couldnt care less.

  • Seems like the smoke haze and work has kept some people away. There are still some stock available in both branches. So, if you are want this, better get moving!

  • Still some left guys! If they don't get sold by today, the price will be back up to $74.

  • prob pick one up from myaree at 2pm if its still in stock.. lol I will help you clear stock by picking up two!

  • just got one from OB, seems to have a full box and a few left, plenty for the others who is wtill considering to get it. Wished they allowed to buy max of 2 units…nevertheless, great bargain!

  • Hoping I'm lucky and there'll still be some at OP around 4pm. Can't got outta work any earlier. :(

    • w00t! They still had a fair few left when I rocked up at 4:45pm. Stoked! :)
