    Not DELL again!

  • Looks like a great deal for a portable laptop.

Find it funny (and annoying though) how shops falsely advertise.

    "Was $999.00

    Price Slashed! Regular Price: $799.00"

Unless they want to admit they overcharge 25% above the regular price as regular practice.

  • yeah they might wanna tell people this laptop is at least 2 yrs old

if you don't mind the older tech and the older look, go for it

  • 12" With DVD drive I think is hard to get for less than $800, however you do have to wonder how old this model is. Could just be me, but for 12" tt does seem a little bulky in the picture.

Evidently released around December 2007. From a March 2008 review:-

If there was ever a notebook that deserved the term "Workhorse", the Dell Vostro 1200 is it. Combining decent connectivity with efficient performance and a fair price tag, the 2.2kg Vostro 1200 is clearly aimed at the mobile business traveller – and it almost hits that target on the nose, barely missing it due to some annoying flaws; including an average viewing angle and a slightly cramped keyboard.

Pros: Great wireless, good CPU, DVDRW, video better than GMA950
Con: Vista Home Basic (will run W7 with ease)

Really nice laptop. Great form factor especially since netbooks are creeping up to 11.6" these days. If I even slightly needed another lappy I'd consider this.

EDIT: About 12 min too late though :)

Hey cyssero, this deal is $509 with postage.

You can get this same deal from Dell for a little bit more:- http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/20261

It's $594 incl delivery, but you can go through moneybackco and get 7% cash back.
This makes it $552. $43 more.

Or wait a bit and it might go cheaper, it seems dell are doing a lot of promo's with the Vostro line. 10-20% off, up to $300 cash off. They must be clearing them cause they're an old line.

  • Deal is over. It's only 11:15pm here in Brisbane. The midnight end to this deal must be based on AEDST. Would have been good to have that info in the title, not that i was planning on buying though.

  • Almost all deals from major companies are based on AE(D)ST
