can someone give me a legitimate use for one of these?
so it enables (for example) 3 USB drives hooked into my Android phone or tablet at once?

    Any other ideas?

I have bought two of these from different sellers on ebay and I have tried in at least three different Android devices. I have never been able to charge the device using these hubs. I did want to charge and use an ethernet adapter at the same time. No such luck.

As a side note, a device needs to have root access to run a USB ethernet adapter.

I read in a forum somewhere they work on the Cheuiew Hi8, so I bought a 3 port one and…..it……..DIDN'T work. I cracked it open and you can see the switch changes the positive rail from the hub to the charging circuit but no both at once middle position.

I really need my Hi8 to run from the mains with USB so I'm working on unplugging the battery and dropping mains voltage over the battery terminals. It worked, but windows battery monitor software still detects it as a 100% charged battery then slowly says the battery is discharging???? I only had a 5 volt power source so I didn't run it until 0% to find out what happens and I'm waiting on a 3.6 volt DC-DC buck to arrive in the mail. Maybe I can disable the windows battery software?
