  • I have a coupon, PM me if you'd like it.

  • I was so excited when I saw this email, all PlayStation themed, $20 off in the headline… I though it was going to be for DS4.

    Bummer.

  • i got one too, is it worth even getting one?

Do you have a vita already?
If so what games do you have? (many aren't compatible)
Would you want to play them on your tv?
Do you already have a PS3,Ps4 controller?

If your not interested in Vita applications of it then do you have a PS4?
if so do you have the ability to connect your Ps4 and vita through ethernet where ever you want to stream the Ps4 game to?

      • +2

Actually Vita TV's lack of compatibility is a misunderstanding based on the old Japanese launch. Today non-compatibility is an exception rather than the rule, and realistically you only miss oit on a few bigger games like Uncharted or Gravity Rush but Killzone works.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Vita_games

        • Are you saying there are hardware and/or software differences between the Japanese model and Western ones (they have different compatibility rates)?

        • +1

True almost all the newer games that don't feature Touchscreen usage heavily are built to support it.

Still though there are some outliers that don't necessarily require touchscreen but haven't been fixed or allowed to work for some reason. Disgaea 3 didn't work for no apparent reason until they just fixed it this month. Danganronpa 1 Still hasn't been patched for EU/Australia only Japan and USA for some reason. It's all the inconsistencies that make this very confusing and difficult for normal people to even consider getting.

Duke Nukem 3d only works on PSTV if you have the USA version. Touch my Katamari, HDNR1 and HDNPP only works on japan. There are many other like this I could list but still it's really annoying.

The fact sony hasn't made a definitive list of what works and doesn't is messed up in my opinion. It's a fun device though for certain purposes.

          @DeafMutePretender:
Not physical hardware difference but sony setup a whitelist on the current firmwares.
That is to say if you bought the day one PSTV from japan you could put anything in and play it up the point you needed a touchscreen.

Since then they updated it to only allow titles they either allow or get manufacturers to fix. They don't have a definitive official list which makes things difficult but the wikipedia one is pretty good if not updated often enough.

          @DeafMutePretender:

No, what I'm saying is that the Japanese launch 2yrs ago had very few games compatible but since the Western release a year later and also until now games have either been patched to work or devs have designed controls to work on release.

      • i have a ps4 and a vita. so i guess i dont need one

    • It's an odd little machine, basically a Vita that plugs into a TV. Any game that doesn't use touch controls works - which knocks out a lot of those available from contention.

    • I'm thinking of getting this to remote play on my desktop monitor

      • +1

just to make sure… your desktop monitor has audio out? or you have some way of splitting the hdmi and audio? Bluetooth headset could work as well as long as your not playing a rhythm game (audio lag) or no audio could work as well if you didn't care.

        • +1

Thanks for the heads up, I've got to double check

        • @altechi:
No worries. Since the ps3 had an option for audio out it's easy to think the ps tv would have the same but it doesn't.

  • Best price for retail Australia so far.
Dunno how much cheaper it'll get over here but they could do way better.

As far as I know cheapest in USA so far is $40 USD for the console itself in new condition. (not including delivery here just locally in USA)
Really good bundle recently at $60 USD for the LEGO PStv kit which came with the console a ps3 sixaxis controller a 4GB memcard and a digital download of some Lego Vita game/s.

So I feel they could certainly go lower on this market as well as the fact the only way they are currently selling these is by bundling them with PS4's.

I bought one of these recently from a seller on Gumtree for $60.
Just got them to give me a copy of the Receipt and now I've got a brand new sealed PSTV for $60 with warranty left on it.

  • I'd like w coupon please but can't pm with a account that isn't a day old:(

    • +1

If you want one turn on PM's and I'll send you mine.
go to the top of this page then under my account go to settings then the "messaging" tab then allow Private messages.

  • Does it come with any extras like a Sony memory card?

    • has built in 1GB memory (not removable)
Includes a voucher for some Worms game and Olli olli and Velocity Ultra.

So console, Cords include hdmi, and voucher. Still need a ps3 or ps4 to use it though.

      • eh meant you still need a ps3/ps4 controller to use it.
You can still play Vita games on it with out a ps3/ps4 console but you do need a controller to use it.

  • Pm me for one- gone
