      It really isn't.

    • +2

Can't tell if that's a weird bit of sarcasm but you'll cop a neg anyway.

    • +1

      32gb is the minimum.

    • Nah, 8GB is the minimum as it seems there are still a lot of people buying the recent 8GB card deals here in OB.

  • +7

You can see it in the specs, but just noting that this is the older version with ~20MB/s write speeds, compared to the new version that has like 70+MB/s (?) write speeds.

  • +1
    • This Pro card is faster than the EVO card in your link, but the newer Pro card is even faster (bought two 32GB cards for $22 each recently).

      • -1

The EVO is faster, it's also on special for $8 at Shopping Square

        • The EVO is faster

          Wrong.

        • Ebany, please do your research before you post wrong advice.

        • typo, should have read "The EVO is slower ……"

        • @tightarse:
I'm certain almost everyone would recognise a typo, but thanks for jumping on that asap with the neg votes.

        • @Ebany:
I'll prove to you I didn't neg your comment by upvoting it! Gee people are quick to jump the gun.

        • @edfoo:
Maybe, instead of been an antagonistic troll, you could actually provide details on how that statement is wrong - maybe post speeds as proof?!?

If you felt the answer was so obviously wrong that it didn't require any proof then logic says it must have been a typo so a more diplomatic response could have been used. e.g. "Ebany, you sure you didn't mean slower"

The speed on this item is 70/20MBs (New version has write of 60MBs), that makes it a very old version of the Pro - hence why it's CLEARANCE. Are you even certain the new EVO (with a speed of +/-48MBs) I linked is slower than this old Pro?

I find it both frustrating and amazing that I can post a couple of comments in an attempt to be helpful and within seconds someone is attacking your comments. This site has gone downhill over the last couple of years.

        • @tightarse:
sry m8, had 2 comments and 2 neg votes so I made an incorrect assumption. Probably shouldn't have jumped the gun but sometimes the constant negativity I feel around this site gets to me - also we can't actually see who negs, probably why I see so much of it these days.

        • @Ebany:

          constant negativity

I know all about that. Cop it more than most, and no idea why :)

        • -1

@Ebany: I am not going to post speeds again as TA has already posted it directly below last night. And you calling people antagonistic troll when others stating you are wrong is not helping your case here.

        • @edfoo:

Ebany, please do your research before you post wrong advice.

Yet your proof is based off someone else’s opinion where they said "I think …."?!?

In my eyes TA is wrong as his opinions are based on Read speeds. Write speeds are most important to me and this SD card only does up to 20MBs, the EVO I linked does up to 33MBs on some benchmarks but averages about 20MBs.

So, even though it was a typo, I was correct when I said the later model EVO was faster. Either way, I was trying to offer someone advice without considering it would turn into a full blown war of words - I have no interest in typing further responses.

    • No, read speed on the EVO is 48MB/s, and 70MB/s on the PRO. I think write speeds may be similair.

      • +1

Not exactly correct, I never bothered clarifying this as it seemed irrelevant - thanks Edfoo for changing this.

48MBs is the EVO's "transfer" speed,
70MBs is the PRO's "read" speed. It's write is 20MBs which should make it's transfer speed about 45MB/s

Samsung's only statement regarding the EVO's write speed is that it's "Actual speed may vary depending on use host device conditions and environment" and it's "Write speed is slower than transfer speed". In my day we would quote the lower of the values as the speed, or we could take an average and call it a transfer speed.

        One site specialising in storage devices I regularly visit wrote this about the latest Samsung SD cards;
"Switching to random large-block transfers, we measured the Samsung EVO SD card at 44.0MB/s read with a very impressive 31.6MB/s write. It's write activity was surprisingly much faster than the Pro series—almost doubling its speed—which scored 18.95MB/s write and 85.5MB/s read."

This shows why it's important to purchase a SSD or SD according to it's intended use ….. though I'd imagine most people here purchase because they're shop-a-holics who can't resist a good bargain.

  • +1

This is not speedyarse rather tinyarse !

  • +2

So many SD cards.. Must stop..

    • +1

      Resistance is futile

  • Hi guys, perhaps a dumb question but I'm a bit naive on it. Is this the sort of card I would need for a GoPro? Looking at buying a cheap one to take to Japan and would need some storage!

    • Simple answer, yes.
Doesn't sound like you will be doing anything too advanced so get a couple of decent sized ones and you should be right, remembering video takes up a LOT of storage space so make sure you have another way of backing the card data up, ie to an external HDD or laptop.

      • +1

Thanks mate :). Looking at maybe grabbing a couple of these and just swapping out when one is full. I won't be taking a laptop or anything, so I won't have anywhere to offload when one gets full, so hopefully 2 will last me, I just want to take it around and capture some footage from here and there.

  • +3

This is the old version of pro, new pro has 4 times faster write speed.

    • -5

So basically a dump of old obsolete stock on Ozbargain.

Perhaps you should put that in the original post?

EDIT, so you put a negative vote in already TA, like I give a f***. Guess it cuts into your kickback.

About time you started to tick the associated box

      • -1

You are an angry person VVV. Just here trying to help people. If you really don't care, best to just block my posts, right?

      • +2

        Hi VVV,

TA has never receive ANY kickbacks from ShoppingExpress. Why? He has never ask for any and was more interested in negotiating a good deal to his best ability for ozbargain. Before he contacted me, i wasn't aware how dedicated he is to ozbargain. After being "squeezed by him" numerous times, i start to appreciate he work his socks for ozbargain and has earn my respect, making me more willing to go the extra mile to provide him & ozbargain the best deal possible.

        Cheers
        SE

        • I'm a bit curious about how long these negotiations take, because my experience in your response time via email is about a week per email, hence it took 2 months to get a refund for a faulty product.

Guess always more profitable to sell more stuff than look after existing/ now previous customers. NOT!

  • Can you get them to put the 64GB ones on sale for 4x the price of these?

  • How long is the shipping with ShoppingExpress usually? Very keen on this :)

  • +1

Can we rename OzBargain to ArseBargain already?

    • +1

Agreed, over this site being spammed with SD/Cheap crappy memory deals

  • Reckon this will be quick enough for the GoPro?

    • 1080p 30fps definitely, 1080p 60fps or 4k is questionable. Something tells me you won't be shooting 4k onto a 16GB card though.

  • Hi, does this come with an adapter?

    • No adapter on this one.

  • +1

Exactly what I wanted for my Raspberry Pi, thanx mate :)

  • Just what I needed. Ordered one. Thanks TA

  • missed out again :-)

  • Had it in my cart and looked for something else then 0 stock available, oh well. looked like you could get the discount and then order another card - i had a 32gb sandisk ultra and the samsung in my cart for 26.95 delivered…

TA can you chase down 32gb/64gb deals? :)

    • According to Ebay they still have plenty of stock, only $14.50 each including postage.

      • That's right, we still some stock. For this deal, i mentioned to TA can only allocate 200 stock for him at $9.25 delivered.

        cheers

        • @Ebany:

LOL - you forgot to tick "associated" box!

        • +1

          @ShoppingExpress:
I tried but apparently it's already past it's quota ;)

  • Hey TA, I missed out on this deal and am rooting for another 16GB microsd card deal from you. Cheers :-)
