  • Thanks, C&C from my local. Duaghter still hasn't finished Skylanders because she doesn't have the concentration. I told her she can't get Trap Team until she finishes it. I'll pick up bargains along the way.

    • Erm… I'm not intending to be judgemental bx, but have I understood correctly that your daughter reckons she's spent enough time on a certain video game and is sick of it, but despite this you're trying to induce her to spend more time on it? With the promise of another video game if she does so? I thought the general gist was to try and get kids to spend less time on the console, not more. But I may well be totally misunderstanding something here, because I'm not familiar with these games… is the 'physical element' of these games real/substantial? Or are the little toy thingies just kind of incidental to the video game?

      Humble apologies if it seems like I'm being condescending or something here bx, it's absolutely not my intention… I know nothing about these games with the little toys that are actually incorporated (or not ?) into the gameplay. Can you play the video game without the little physical toys, or are they an integral part of it? When kids are playing the games, do they actually play with the physical toys as well/ at the same time, or are they more just like 'props' in a way?

      • Why would anyone want their kids to play less video games? The only reason I'm 10k a day CEO is because of what video games taught me.

          Would you mind sharing how video games helped you become 10k a day CEO. I would like to achieve the same and for my kids too. Thanks.

          @superValue: What's a 10k/day CEO doing on OzB, lol?

        • +1

          @superValue:
          Won't go into too much detail but the skills that were given to me are unending. From the physical such as reflexes, coordination, then areas like mental quickness, decision making, to historical knowledge, vocabulary and culturalism and the big ones problem solving, awareness and concentration.

          It just doesn't end. Also keeps the kids off the streets or 'over' socializing out of home.

          I could go on.

        • @carlitos:

          I would have thought you would get all those skills by getting out playing sport and socialising.

          Nevertheless I'm still keen to find out how computer games got you your 10k per day job.

        • @superValue:

          You get a job based on your skills or more so you grow your career based on your level of skill. So a wide array of skills given to me personally thanks to Video Games was my original point.

        1. If your child picks up every game, starts it and doesn't finish you spend a lot of money
        2. Kids love the toys to life thing, especially young kids. It's a brilliant and evil marketing strategy to force DRM and make the games very expensive.
        3. Teaching your kid to finish what they start, even if it gets boring, is an important lesson. How many jobs do you think there are where you can just drop things once the work no longer amuses you.
        4. If your kid spends time with computer games that stimulate the mind why is that a bad thing? Some people seem to think that instead of balancing the video games with real life activities including some physical excercise, it is a race to see how much we can get our kids away from the very tech that's enhanced modern life.
      • big money in eSports these days. Gone are the days of kids wasting their life playing games

  • which game is rthis for will it work for the ps3 game?

    • -3

      Only works for Skylanders Swap Force and yes, it will work for the PS3.

      • +4

        No trap team and the new game coming superchargers. Not swap force

          Ah dang, you're right! Thanks for the correction.

  • It appears that this is the crystal that is included in the starter park which means most, if not all, people who play trap team already have this. Correct me if I am wrong?

    • Correct. Saw this a while ago and did not post it because if you have the game there is a 99% chance you have this already

    • yes but you can use multiple ones to hold different characters.

    • You infact need multiples.

  • Got it for $5 at Target when they first came out…

  • Thanks TA, this is great timing as I have to go to a kids party on Sunday and this kid loves Skylanders.

  • Yep looking online it seems to have been a pre-order bonus when it was first released.. and yes strangely it is water element trap which you get in the start pack.. while you can have 2, to hold 2 different water element bosses… the trap comes pre loaded with a boss but that takes away the fun of beating the boss…

  • Why did the earth leave ozbargain?

  • Took me a while to figure out what that actually is. Now I know it's a game. :p
