      • Those on the 2nd back of ram will have orders start shipping from early next week.

  • +1

Those people who bought this with the 8GB RAM should consider selling their 2GB RAM to those who didn't order the RAM so they can have 4GB.

    I mean who wants 1 x 2GB and 1 x 8GB for a total of 10 GB?

    • Good suggestion, will it work in my N40L with its original 2GB? I'd buy one if the price is right.

      • +1

Well the N40L can use the same RAM as the HP G8 G1610T Microserver according to:
        http://n40l.wikia.com/wiki/Memory

As for its original RAM compatibility, I am unsure, I believe it would work and run at the slowest of the 2 sticks of RAM, but my knowledge of servers is very limited. But with 2 x 2GB of RAM it could run at DDR speeds.

If you live in the Brisbane region I sell you my 2GB of ECC RAM, I don't want 10GB over 8GB, it doesn't feel right.

Whoa ECC RAM is expensive, ShoppingSquare did a good deal for 8GB. Cheapest I could see 2GB ECC RAM is ComputerAlliance for $59. Most places have it much higher.

        • +1

N40L can use non-ecc ram, cheaper solution.

I will sell my 2G as well, odered 8Gx2.

        • @FabMan: How much for the 2gb ram?

          @helleon

    • +1

Good idea. Once my order arrives I'll sell my 2GB stick in the Classifieds. (Against rules to advertise items for sale in these comments.)

      • +1

I think to prevent multiple sales of similar items in the classifieds and people attempting it here, a selling room just for this subject maybe a good idea? Mine won't arrive for a while so I won't be starting it.

        • I am keen to sell my 2GB as well. I ordered mine separately so will have to wait a week or so.

        • @Beast: Interested in 2gb :)

        • @garethb:
          Will send you a PM

      • I'm also chasing a spare 2GB OEM stick, i've added a wanted sale in the classifieds.
Anyone in SA you're welcome to PM me.

      • I'm interested in extra 2gb as well (Melbourne)

  • Received mine this morning, I am in Victoria. So fast.

I have the HpN36L, HpN40L, and Netgear ReadyNas NV+ V2, virtually new for sale. I don't keep my machine running all week and often have it off for a few weeks at a time.

  • Rep, the code isn't working for RAM? is it expired?

    • yes the deal has expired

I've been mucking around with mine for a couple of days now and did a warranty check online on the HP website - it comes up with the following:

        Warranty type: Base Warranty
Service type: Wty: HP Parts Exchange Support
        Status: Active
        Start date: 29/03/2015
        End date: 27/04/2016

What's going on here? Why has the warranty been running for four months - are these units new, or are they units you have been supplied by HP as a warranty exchange?

        • +1

Same here although the day before:

          Warranty type: Base Warranty
Service type: Wty: HP Parts Exchange Support
          Status: Active
          Start date: 28-Mar-2015
          End date: 26-Apr-2016

I'll note my unit had been opened and resealed which I thought was to just put the stick of RAM in. It did appear brand new otherwise. The seal on the RAM had also been cut. What gives SE?

        • Don't stress. HP will honor the warranty from your invoice date.

        • @shane_au:

No law requiring them to inform us if a warranty exchange product?

        • @FabMan:
Are you referring to the service type? I'm not sure that's what it says is it?

        • @Shonky:

At first I thought these were warranty returned products resold, that is why I was asking so poorly. Needed a nap, brain muddled.

        • @FabMan: Regardless, why do I have only 9 months left?

        • @Boodek: Maths?

          12 - 3 = 9.

        • @FabMan:I'm not sure what you mean. From now until the end of April is about 9 months.

        • +1

@FabMan: Then it would be sold as Refurbished or Certified Reconditioned.

        • +1

          @shane_au:
You just email the invoice to HP warranty support and they will update the warranty start date. Its worth doing, because the warranty belongs to the device, so if u on-sell it the buyer gets remaining warranty.

        • @stumo: Thanks, I'll give that a go I think.

        • @Shonky:

The warranty starts from your date of purchase - make sure you have your proof of purchase ready if you need to seek warranty with HP/SE.

We open our ram to put our warranty sticker in.

          Cheers
          SE

    Received mine today in fnq.
    Very fast delivery. Thanks Rep.

  • Is there a firmware update download site? I can't find any.

  • How did people choose to set this up?

What did people choose their OS and did they install the OS to the SD card or perhaps something else?

    • the os really depends on what you re familiar with.
If you are more in windows, I followed this YouTube video to set it up.

      • Cheers, considering Windows 10.

    • Hi tried Freenas and am struggling with the permissions and couldn't be bothered learning all the commands.
I am going to give XPEnology a go as it seems more straight forward.

    • I installed Server 2012R2 on the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB I scored from Shopping Express last month. (fits nicely where the dvd is suppose to go)
2 x 2TB WD in raid mirror and the 5 TB from Office Works shucked.

  • I've got a question over here.
