Pretty sure this is the standard price.

Btw, note that even though you get the IQ2 box, you'll have to pay extra to get HD channels.

    • Agreed… no special deal here.

  • +2

so $75 off but stuck for 12 months.. MEH

    • HD is $10 extra a month

      • Comment redacted due to poor reading skills.

Btw stay away from the IQ3. Crud from most reports. I'll stick with IQ2 until they get there sh%t sorted

    • I have IQ3 and im really happy with it. Works sweet.

      • Iv looked at it and looks good but friends had it and was crap a lot on whirlpool complaining about constantly restarting or locking up.

Foxtel should be banned from ozbargain just for screwing Australia over with that GoT deal thing.

    • HBO should be banned too following that thought process.

  • Anyone managed to negotiate a better rate (than $50) on this package after cancelling?

    • Nah, $50 is pretty aggressive as far as their concerned. Every now and again you can get a month free, maaaaaaybe two, but even then it's often just the add-on.

To be fair, $25 a month for basic cable is really cheap. A person may not love the content the basic channels provide, but Foxtel provides channels, not content.

I was on $42 a month for close to 18 months, which was IQ2 + Sport + HD. Think they have increased it to $49 at the moment for me, but it's coming up to my quarterly 'cancellation' call so will see what they offer on the next one ;)

      • haha I do the quarterly calcination call too

I don't know if anyone from FOXTEL will read this, but if you do:

I will never, ever subscribe to Foxtel until you stop treating HD as a value-added service.

HD has been around well over a decade and most of us now have large HDTVs.

Most (or all) channels should be provided in HD, and it should be INCLUDED in the cost of the service, not an extra charge.

Foxtel got your message and is now going to completely restructure their pricing structure. Just because they care about you not subscribing. Oh wait, they couldn't give two shits. Until there is another provider that will broadcast every AFL game, every V8 supercar event, F1 event and a continually growing range of live sport, ALL IN HD, people will continue to pay $60 a month for it.

I personally believe that people who pay for other content are getting ripped off, but that's their call.

  • +4

I ONLY have it for sport and sports related shows.

  • When I saw this I thought HD was included so it is more like 60 a month, but where else am I got to get my sport, not free to air

  • Don't sign up for more than the basic package when you start your contract. Take the 12 months and the basic package. Then, a week later, add on the sports/movies/drama/kids/whatever. Add-on packages can go on/off each month, and you aren't tied in to the full freight for 12 months. (I say this all b/c I was an idiot and did it the other way.)

    • Thanks mate, good tip.

    • The 12 month contract is only for the base entertainment package.

      • +1

Thanks for the clarification. Had been told otherwise when signing up.

        • -1

          No worries

    • -1

      Not if you bundle.

If you bundle, you cannot add extra channels without breaking your contract and paying…

    • $767 V $675. No.

      • That $767 includes HD, which is an extra $10 per month, so assuming you'd pay for HD it's $767 vs $795. Not much of a saving, but it is better (again, assuming you want HD).

  • The only reason why Foxtel is still at my house, their sports are unrivalled, their coverage on footy, EPL, and cricket are huge for me

    • Same. I only have it for A-league and EPL.

  • After a year are you able to continue on just the sports channels or do you always need to pay for the base?

If not I'll just live with streaming epl. I'd rather pay for nba game time and will need to pay for bein sports separately anyway.

    • Always need to pay for the base.

      • Thanks for that. Assumed that was the case but held some hope!

Now to see if bein gets la liga rights this season…

  • Still debating whether to bite the bullet for Foxtel for the EPL or try sus out an alternative.
Was using PremierLeaguePass last season which was great, but they eventually copped on that I wasn't living in the Philippines…
Was looking at beinsports but can't find any proper reviews or info about their lineup of games on the weekend (whether they show all live games or just 1 or 2 per day etc).

Have a year sub for some IPTV service but it's in the US and fairly unreliable for sport.

    Tough choices!

  • Same here, should I bite the bullet for EPL?! Else, any alternatives?
