the phrase "up to" 75% somewhat lessens the excitement……….

  • +4

Yeah, fix the title. While they may be some bargains, these "UPTO" Sales tend not to be always that fantasic. Usually clearing out old crap.

  • +4

"75% off all games" is a big lie. Bad title.

  • Fixed the title. Sorry guys.

I actually didn't see it on their website until now :)

  • Has it started already? The ad on the website says 'tonight only'

  • -1

Where did the prices come from?
Is that just a "guesstimation" based on retail?

I'm looking for good PS3 stocking fillers.

  • +2

Neg for misleading title appearing in my RSS feed.

    • -1

And for causing false hope through mine.

  • +2

None of those prices were at the HN I checked out, they were alot more.

  • +1

Checked with HN Northland. Nothing available in this price.

    • Do you mean the one on Bell St?

  • -1

    fail

  • Definitely going to check out my local after work…

Also, be sure to look in their bargain bins, as this is where most games are…

    Well the cheapy ones…

  • -1

Broden you miss spelled the title it should be:
Harvey Norman - Up to 75% more on All Games - TODAY ONLY
Eb and JB hifi are much cheaper even when there are no sales on.

  • +4

I'm just a messenger people… Don't take it out on me.

    • +3

Agreed, he is just seeing bargains posted on other forums, and sharing it with everyone.
If the bargains were mind-boggling good, he would be lauded with praise.
Because seemingly they aren't that good, he is being blasted.

If you keep having digs at members for posting information from other forums, everyone will stop doing it, and we'll ultimately miss out!

      • +2

I 'd also come to the defense of Broden just being the messenger, if it weren't for the fact he gives out negatives for far less - treat others bargains as you'd like yours treated perhaps? :P

        • I gave a negative, and with that I gave detailed information on why I didn't see it as a 'bargain'

          Each to their own.

    • +3

      I’m just a messenger people… Don’t take it out on me.\

SILENCE! We'll have your hands for that!

    • Really, we should all know that 75% off all games is clearly a mistake…including you, Mr Poster ;)

  • any deals on the consoles?

  • Weird - i went to Martin Place store and nothing there…

  • +1

Harvey Norman sale is hardenly normal, went to my local store and there wasn't anything worth mentioning.

  • +1

Harvey Norman Sydney CBD is open till midnight. Their prices are 400% higher than those quoted above and they know nothing of the proposed sale.

Have to say though that Sydney CBD often doesn't discount as heavily as say Castle Hill store.

    • -1

Just because you said CASTLE HILL I went there at 6pm and they have not even put the labels yet.

I asked the boy to let me check his list nothing very special.

Next time if you don't know what on sales on other stores please don't mention the name, wasted my time.

  • Direct link http://www.harveynorman.com.au/page/1256966633188/manic-mond…

It says "Tonight only" so maybe the prices won't be marked down till later? They should at least know about it though.

    • Indeed, I wonder what "Tonight only" is meant to mean? After the normal closing time?

      • They're open till midnight.

        • Yes I realise that, but the sale is for "Tonight Only", does that mean normal closing time -> midnight only or… ?

          • @aeon: that would make sense as to why some stores dont have the sale running atm…

            • +1

@mgexiled: My money is that if your store isn't showing the sales prices now, they won't be on sale after 5pm or anytime up until midnight

  • +2

I am sure HN is fishing buyers. Probably on 1-2 copies for the title.

    • +1

      wouldn't be the first time

  • Checked out HN Chadstone.
    Indeed there was a sale/clearance, but $44 was the cheapest… hardly a bargain…

Had some Guitar hero clearances aswell.
$69 for World Tour with guitar I think…
    Metallica + Guitar was $99.

Guess it depends on the store… but I was disappointed :p

    • was just about to check chadstone thanks for the heads up mate

    • So their original price was ~$180… (75% off) Ouch!

  • can any tell me if there was any wii games discounted?

  • Wii games were included in the 'sales' :p

  • +1

So much negativity. It changes from store to store. This post was made to alert people. If you get a bargain, good on ya, if you don't too bad. Don't sook. This post has done exactly what it meant to do. Get people aware.

    • +1

Most people are PO'd because it was posted as "75% off all games". That then stays on the RSS feeds and Twitter feed as such.

    • +1

I agree with you tomsco, letting people know is great. If you go to http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/20491 you'll unfortunately see that Broden does not really share your opinion. Sharing is caring peeps :D

      • Cmon mate. Is that all you're going to do here? Because I gave you a negative with a valid reason you feel like taking the piss out on me? Grow up.

        • +2

I'm not neg voting this, I'm just trying to establish the need for the bargain community to support the bargains that are brought forward, rather than encouraging negativity - I think the more we encourage people bringing bargains to our attention, the better we grow as a community :D

  • Thanks V1, would anyone know of prices for family type game… :) I am close to Nunawading store…

  • Ok I work @ Harvey Norman and if u come visit just ask one of our staff and we give lowest prices on any games from the computer. Come in @ 7ish Cheers

    • Have the sales started then? Good to know we have an informant :)

  • Just went… nothing on special… no one knew jack about it

  • so sale starts at 7pm> ?

  • The games r labelled then dumped into the clearance bin its like left over games that have many stocks in the warehouse and bringing new ones on shelves such as Oblivion and them but u can still grab a game and ask for a cheaper price but it will be near the same price as every other shop like tekken 6 its already 20$ off original price. It's not a big sale just a promotion for ppl to come in and wants last minute gifts if u ask any salesperson they will give u 10ish% off any price but won't be low cos of gst and warehouse stock so it will be more.

  • I went to Wiley Park, Sydney which was a waste of time (for PS3 games at least). Sure, they have R2 for $42 if that strikes you as a bargain, but none of these sub $20 deals, or sub $40 for that matter.

Came back from Caringbah, Sydney within the hour. They have only a few PS3 games on special left. Literally a couple of copies. Assassins Creed and Mirrors Edge for $19, Batman Arkum for $38. I already have Batman and not that excited about the other 2 so I left it. They have MW2 and Assassins Creed 2 for $74.

  • i saw assassins creed for $25 at the CBD store..

  • Just got back from my store at Erina. They had a 4 games for $100. Some of the games were pretty good. Games I rememeber are Fallout 3 PC, STALKER PC, Far Cry 2 CE 360, HL2:E2. Heaps of 360 games which could be used for trade bait and heaps of other collectors editions.

I think the sale started at 6, because they were closed from 5 and opened the doors at 5:50 and were still stacking the shelves with games from a massive box

  • -1

    Mega fail

  • +1

Harvey Norman Martin Place have Resistance 1 and 2, and most of the other games on special at other stores - all are full marked price ($49.95) for Platinum games.

They have a barrel of crap games they've had at 50% off for 6 months - those games are 75% off tonight only but you wouldn't know it, you have to ask - and most are shite.

  • Rightio, from my local HN in Hoppers Crossing Vic:

    History Channel Game - $15

    Blazing Angels 2 - $21
    Tomb Raider Underworld - $25
Rise Of The Argonauts - $27
    Far Cry 2 - $29

Not too bad, if you were looking for particular titles….

Was very tempted of the gh:wt bundle, or the guitar game bundle, but passed them up.

    what a joke…

    HN Gordon and Chatswood….

    1. Nothing is marked
    2. Anything that is marked had better prices a week ago (it also wasn't clear if it was to do with the sale or just a normal marked down price)
    3. I was actually told by a staff member to tell him what I wanted so he could tell me the price… WTF!

I want to walk in.. look… buy stuff…

Another guy was at chatswood the same time as me and was looking on here and saying "this is apparently $xx" the guy was like "no way"

    Screw harvey norman!

  • +4

    I walked into HN @ parramatta .

and then i moonwalked out in style

  • I weny into Harvey Norman Knox tonight as well… absolute crap deals!!!!
had massive signs all over games "up to 75% off", with barely discounted prices.
also they were trying to pass off "Modern Warfare" as the hot #1 seller, even tho anyone with half a brain knows it should be "Modern Warfare 2" as this seasons hot seller.

…trying to trick mothers and old ladies into thinking it is the one their kids are after just to clear old stock.
    EPIC FAIL!!

  • I bought a copy of bioshock/ oblivion pack for 30$ at Hn chirside but that way about the only decent offer

  • I went to Harvey Norman just then after work…it was closed fail

    • +1

lol. dodgy "sale" and closing early. It's a new low.

  • saw this in the morning, it actually made me sign up to ozbargain, and i went to Harvey Norman,
    SCAM
i am so cut, i wish i could Neg this deal, but my account is just new, so i will have to wait a month
    BIG NEG

  • I went to 2 Harvey Norman in Western Australia.

I agree the store are not consistant in regards to the items on sale.

Nothing really much to shout about in regards to deals but I picked up Guitar Hero World Tour (Game + Guitar) for only $27. (XBOX). I thought that was a good deal to grab a second guitar.

  • Depends where you go. My local store had excellent savings.

    • +1

Exactly! older games, but crazy prices…
      I got (on 360)
      WWE vs Smack '08 - $40 down to $10
      Tiger Woods '08 - $25 down to $6.25
Guitar Hero world tour (single guitar pack) - $100 down to $25
AC/DC Rock band (game only) - $30 down to $7.25

Apparently all the prices varied from store to store…

p..s I went to the moorabbin store in vic

        guess you got lucky =)

  • I'm glad some people got some awesome deals.
