  • There is still Gp left in those Sonys so could haggle down the salesman if you're nice enough to them :)

    • wow good price on the 55"

to be honest. i am hunting the 50" … solidussnake ……did you if/when know when the 50" model might go on the sale?

i know a few weeks ago it was the 43" now 55"……hopefully its next?

      • 50" was $1350 last week when it was 10% Off sorry..

        • oh damn i didnt notice.

the 65" is good price i have a mate interested in that TV. ill let him know… was only discussing it with him this afternoon

          thanks for your help solidussnake

i will have a think about the 55

        • @DaftPunk2525: Send him to Carindale if you want :)

        • @DaftPunk2525:
But check out Good Guys price for 55", $1488, plus Bonus offer ($100 Google Play cards). Good Guys one is much better.

        • You mean $1298, I've seen someone getting that price @ JB

        • @Hayeswei: The $100 gift card isn't retailer specific, it's a SONY promotion.

I just had a look on the redemption website, which states

To be eligible to claim, individuals must purchase (Lay-by and Duty-Free purchases excluded) any Eligible Product (defined below) from a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer during the Purchase Period and the purchase must not have been made under any other offer provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer. Sony Authorised Dealers include (But are not limited to): Bing Lee, David Jones, Domayne, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Video Pro, Sony Centre, Sony Kiosk and Sony Store online.

I'm unsure as to why JB isn't listed in the images on their website, as they're definitely included - every included TV is covered with stickers in my store.

      • Never pay the advertised price, there is usually still some wiggle room…. even after the discount.

        • i can get 6% off JB via gift card. would bring it down to 1406.24

but i might go in store tomorrow and ask best price they can do on 55" and if i pay by giftcard.

        • @DaftPunk2525: Good thoughts. You will let all know ?

  • what's gp?

    • +1

      gross profit im guessing

    • +1

Gross Profit, Meaning it can be discounted by how well you play ur cards, But they wont discount on 60M Interest finance.

  • Just bought the 50inch a week ago. Worth go back and ask for a swap to the 55? Paid exactly the same price…

    • If you have the box should be fine.

      • Can I just give this as a reason? That I'd obviously want the larger one for the same price?

        • Yeah push for that they should be happy to do it :) ive seen customer cracked screens be given new panels lol

        • +3

@solidussnake: just went and swapped it :)

        • @stephenc1: Nice work!

  • Presuming gross profit? As in they're still making money so still room to move…

    • JB is but not the salesman, But Jb have left money in it. if it needs to be futher reduced.

  • hi stephenc,

out of interest size 50 v 55 aside .. are you happy with the TV? im hunting the same one

    • +1

Good Tv, comparable to the Samsung 48J6200

      • thanks :) it looks good on the youtube reviews i have seen

        • Sony did a training night that I went too, looks good with what the new Sony's can do !

    • +1

Yea by far the best picture quality I found in store for the price

Still extremely happy with it :)

    • Pretty Sure the 75 at Jb comes with the Bonus Credit too. Same as if you buy it from Havey it is a sony promo. Also jb gives you better standard warranty as part of ACL. 2.5 yrs standard.

  • I have a KDL70W850B, its an awesome tv. I have not regretted getting the larger size one bit!

    • I bought the same TV a couple months ago.
Got it for $1400 with extra two year warranty but only cause I signed up to Telstra cable.
My friend also bought one without signing up to Telstra for $1600, also with the extended warranty

      • Where did you get it for $1400 from?

        • From JB.. But don't think you'll be able to get that model anymore

        • @wikiwiki: would be last years i reckon dude.

        • @solidussnake: What's wrong with last year's model?

        • @Lukian: The Miracast function does not work for me…

    • +1

Yep, agree. I have the same TV and love it. As is always the case with TVs in our house, I'm looking forward to getting an 80" TV when they get to a similar price point. That would be the optimum size TV for our room since we retired our projector.

Given there was a Samsung UHD 55" out the other week for about $1500 is it worth waiting around for a better deal than this?

    • You mean in the states ? 2 Weeks ago it was cheaper to buy the 60inch 6/7 series than the 55" lol

    • is it worth waiting around for a better deal than this?

      No

  • I spoke to a Sony rep, and apparently you can 'side load' apps into the Android system, only problem is that compatibility is hit 'n miss but Plex works.

Better warranty (2yrs) and support through any jb…. but meh.

      • Better warranty (2yrs) and support through any jb

        Your link says : "Manufacturer's Warranty - 1 Year"

        • +2

Jb acting with acl will actually give you 2 yrs warranty, 1 yr manufacturers and 1 yr after as a repair warranty jb will pay the costs in the second yr. but dont take my word for it as i work full time at jb. Jv 😧

        • -1

          @solidussnake:

acl will actually give you 2 yrs warranty

Where does it say that ?

        • @jv: come in to any jb store and they will give you your rights as a comsumer in a blue booklet.

        • -1

          @solidussnake:

come in to any jb store and they will give you your rights

Why doesn't it mention the 2 year warranty on the website ?

        • -4

          @solidussnake:

Jb acting with acl will actually give you 2 yrs warranty,

Why only 2 years? The ACL does not put a limit on warranty periods. In fact, claiming that you're complying with the ACL requirements and then stating you will only warrant the TV's for only 2 years indicates you're not fully complying with the law. I'm going to write to the ACCC and ask them to review the comments being made here by JB staff. I hope for your sake that you've been authorised to publically comment on legal issues on behalf of your employer!?

        • @pmupsinep:
they only come out at night

        • +1

@jv: JB offers two years warranty on most products over $500. While it's not listed on the website, it's official enough that extended care plans now only kick in on the 25th month after purchasing the product.

        • +5

@pmupsinep: dude read the jb website or google acl. You might be entilted to more than 2 yrs its a grey area which is decided on a case by case scenario im just trying to help you guys out. And you're having a go at me.

        • @solidussnake: No one is attacking you for helping out but you're making statements and unjustified comparisons to competitors regarding warranty when you're all bound by the same laws and requirements. Jv found a better offer on one of the models, should have left it at that.

        • -1

          @solidussnake:

And you're having a go at me.

          How ?

      • hi again solid…. whats your advice if i go in 2mrow…… re; what i should accept?? (Given even at 1496 im fairly sold on the 55")

1400 offer good or should i just ask them what they can do

        • +2

          I'd start at $999

        • +2

Try for an extra $50 or so $1400 would be for last yrs tvs i reckon not this yr as they're just come out. Be friendly and see what they can do for you.

        • @jv: llolollolool

JV!! u made me laugh so hard i started coughing

        • @solidussnake:

          ok will do thanks :D

  • -4

These are probably the best price I've seen the Sony TV's since they have been out at JB.

Wrong. Bought the 60 inch tv last boxing day for $990

    • +1

      That's the last gen model.

      • What's wrong with the last gen model?

        • +1

It's not a comparable item - it would be like saying "This is the cheapest iPhone 6 has ever been" and then saying "But I got the iPhone 5 cheaper than this last year!"

The last gen model actually has better input lag but they don't run Android TV (the main upgrade here) and the physical size is larger.

        • @DrStinge: Okay, better input lag is a good feature if gaming on them! and by physical size larger, I'll assume 60" vs 65". But if they were otherwise identical (refresh rate, input lag, size), I see no benefit from a newer model that isn't solved with an external TV box.

        • @DrStinge: Not really an upgrade when another party writes the OS for you so that it can collect data on your viewing habits.

        • @Diji1:

Any hard evidence to the latter?

  • +1

Anyone know if you can still pick up last B series model? Apparently the input lag on the Cs is up 10-20ms

Otherwise wouldve snapped it up :(

    • Doubt it.. My A has 6-8ms input delay.. 20-30 'extra is huge!

  • Anyone know if these new android TV's will run kodie or TVMC to use add-ons (for streaming) or playback 1080p .mkvs from a network?

    • Runs Kodi, and mkv's over USB. Haven't tried over network, but imagine it should as it has a network tab within the interface to suggest it would and mkv's are supported.

  • Am I crazy or were TV prices way better last year? I snagged a 50" Sony for like 800ish (850 maybe) from JB, IIRC. Full HD 3d smart TV.

Did the dollar crash hurt prices a ton?

    • Yep, prices are up across the board. The dollar dropped a while ago, but the prices weren't immediately affected til suppliers started restocking their warehouses.

    • Exchange rate when its high didn't really affect much on TVs and fuel prices, things were much cheaper. When its the dollor low you see every bloody retailer blame on their high prices on rates.

Price never really adjusted properly. Only when it drops and its used as an excuse. The stock could have been purchased before bye the reatiler when the dollar was high and profit margins widens when exchange rate is low using it as excuse for jacked up prices

  • I negotiated 2 deals for my mates couple of weeks ago when they had 10% of sale on all tv's

Got the 43" for $1033 and the 50" for 1188.

  • If those where 4k models it would be reasonable pricing, but for HD, that is not good pricing. Got a 70inch 4k Sony TV last year for under $3k

    • Yeah it must be great having 4K with very little content, totally worth it.

      • A 4K TV is so much better and upscales eveything. Good upscaled 1080p looks just like 4k. One problem is that it ruins 1080p TVs (and cinemas) for you. You can see pixels you never knew existed after watching a 4k TV for extended periods.

  • is it worth getting a sony 55" or a Samsung 55" or pay a bit more for a Samsung 60"?

    • Depends what you want it for the w800 is one of best TV's around for gaming as it has one of the lowest input delays for a tv know.

      • Is that the one with terrible screen bleeding?

  • +2

Bring back last year's prices!! :(

    • +4

Bring back last year's exchange rates!! :)

  • Question where are they made? Malaysia with Japanese or Korea Panels?

  • Anyone know how long this will last for? Waiting on tax refund…

    • +2

      Till mon cob from memory.

  • Good guys offering similar deal, but with bonus $100 googleplay giftcard

  • -1

Could somebody please confirm the refresh rate on the 55 inch screen? I'm looking up reviews and specs and i seem to looking at some sites snd reviews are saying 100hz,120hz or effective 120hz worth some bullshit blur feature.

Ifi have missed something obvious my apologies in advance.

    • @dutchw32, 100hz.

      its on the applianceonline website.

  • I just walked in to my local Harvey Norman store, and they had just marked the Sony TVs at the same prices.

Told me it was a sale until the end of the weekend.

  • Any recommendations for wall mounts for one of these babies?

  • Whats the difference with the C on the end besides the stand? I got the 55w800A 2 years ago for $1600 from jb with extended warrantee.

  • +1

After a bit of haggling I got the 65 inch W850C for $2299, and an extra $100 of Google Play credits thrown in.

    • Wow, that's a great price. Where did you get it from? Any chance you can post your receipt? :)
