  • Thanks OP, good price on the seagate slim. Wish the AUD was stronger and prices were back down at $89.

Wonder why DS don't stock WD?

    • They use to, but don't any more. I asked one of the sales guys once but he had no idea.

Cheers mate, grabbed the backup plus slim for my PS4.

    • Is seagate ok to use for this?

I've read to stay clear but yer what one says compared what others say too

Would the Toshiba be the better drive?

      • From what I've been reading on the Internet, seems like the seagate backup plus slim is the only 2TB HDD that you could find at the moment to fit into the PS4.

As the drive has to be 2.5inch and no thicker than 9.5mm. Not sure about the Toshiba one.

And in terms of the performance, it would be similar as the stock drive but apparently you've got much larger storage.

If you really wanna to speed up the load time, you could possible go for the 1TB SSHD or SSD if you have money to burn.

        • Nah I'll stick with the 2TB

          Thanks

        • WD Elements 2.5" 2TB works. But the price of the SeaGate is actually better.

  • Can u change the price of seagate backup plus to $74.90 in title too?

What's the discount that you used?

      • hi, i have an email from dicksmith 2 moths ago said "welcome to mates rates" with the code $10 off when spend $50 or more even it s expired already, i tried and work. but can only use 1 time.

    • +1

Damnit. I bought it Wednesday doing the same thing but it was $2 and a few cents dearer.

      • Me too. The annoying thing is it's still sitting in the store waiting for me to collect it.

        • Picked mine up yesterday. Based on a basic test it works at least.

  • If you have any old mates rates $10 off $50 codes try them out, I used an expired one yesterday.

The subject of the email is "firstname, Welcome to Mates Rates"

    • Worked for me too. :)

Bought two of the 2Tb Seagate portable drives (for the Xbox 360's).

    • I tried an old mates rates code. It worked. Got Backup slim 2 TB for 98$.

  • Damn. I'm looking for a 3TB or 4TB :(

  • Will Office works do a price match on this? They do further 5% off right?

    • Should do.

      • OH damn do you reckon they will still do it even if Dick Smith is out of stock hahaha.. oh well :(

        • Have a try :) In my experience officeworks is really lax about price matching.

Wasn't able to price match the Toshiba at my local

  • Toshiba canivo or Seagate slim portable?

  • Looks like the portable ones are now out of stock? :(

  • Yes - Temporarily out of stock

  • +2

This is stupid, earlier I checked my local stores for click and collect and it showed that a few had stock.

I had to go near a local store a few minutes ago and thought i'd just click and collect wait in store as they physically have stock of the drive I was after…now the website is saying "temporarily out of stock" and they not wiling to do it for that price instore

    • Welcome to Dick!

    • It should be called "Dicked and Collect"!…you get dicked around before you get the opportunity to collect.

    • Load Ad on your phone.
Goto nearest Officeworks and ask to price match, show the ad.

      Did this earlier, no problems.
Got the drive for $98 after 5% price match guarantee.

  • I bought a 2TB Canvio 5 weeks ago in the same deal and the USB Connector pin board has already come loose and dropped off the pins.
I've used it about 4 times. Looking online it appears to be a common problem with the Canvio's.

It's an amazing deal but after this experience I wouldn't recommend it.

    • Sounds like most brands have problems going by comments, my first WD Elements died after about 5 months, second one has lasted a little longer but turns off from time to time. Looks like they need to pick up their game when it comes to portable drives
