Office 365 Free for All Current and (possibly) Graduated QUT Students (Finally)

190

K, so log into your QUT email, ( connect.qut.edu.au ).

Click the little gear cog in the top right.

Select "Office 365 Settings".

Select "manage software".

(Full disclosure, I already have legit Office installed so I haven't actually done this to completion.)

Have also received word that this works for graduated students also.

Not a bargain as you need to spend $$,$$$ on degree first? :P

Technically you can enroll and then quit before the financial penalty cutoff :/

      • yeah, but then you'll lose your qut email and associated office 365 subscription.

        • email@connect Office 365 provides you with the following features:
lifelong email address (available after graduation)

No idea if they manually shut down the addresses of people who drop out, but I haven't heard so.

And a bargain for those of us who graduated years ago but are getting free software years later ;)

      • Actually, can you let us know if that works? I was thinking about graduating anyway but a little extra incentive is always welcome.

        You forgot outlook

  • How is this available to QUT graduates when you have no connect email account? Email acct is removed after graduation.

    • Honestly, I don't know. Someone in this thread sent me a PM saying it worked though. Also, I was under the impression that if you successfully graduate, you get to keep your email for life.

  • I logged in with my account (graduated 2008) but there is no software listed under manage software.

  • Person says, "I see an option to install software in "Office 365 Settings" / "Install and Manage software". Graduated 8 years ago.

  • I graduated years ago too. Logged in with my old username and password, still works.

  • contact your alumni office, they should be able to confirm if you can get a QUT email for life and also access to office 365.

I believe a lot of Unis has signed up to offer their alumnis free email for life and office 365… I think this is something microsoft is pushing

Works for Curtin Uni as well (graduated few years ago)

  • It'd be helpful, if people took take some screenshots… to show the options available (and where to find) on their Uni "portal".

Hmmm, not negging the deal but I'm not seeing any place to download/intall office. I graduated just over a year ago and my Office 365 only has Mail/Contacts/Calendar "Apps".

On the plus side I didn't realise I still had access to my student email address, which on its own is worth a bit :)

  • Ain't no working mail. :(
    Graduated 4 years ago.

  • Hey OP,
    Good tip!
Works with UQ students email address too (@uqconnect.edu.au)
    Cheers!

  • i have office 2007 Enterprise SP3 installed on my comp, is it worth upgrading to this free version of office 365 for student?

by the way, confirmed works for graduated QUT student, grade in 2009/2010

Edit: Am i missing something, because well its pointless since i only get mail, calendar and people.
