  • awesome…awesome…awesome

      3 x "Awesomes" doesn't equal a positive vote?

        Voted the deal

        • Thank You!

DPS-DMK (direct) $160 return, makes a $400 return flight to Bangkok.

DPS-Kota Kinabalu (direct) $56 return, makes a <$300 return flight to Kota.

    • Can you transit in DPS to avoid the otherwise Indo VOA x2 at $35US each way?

      • Ill let you know next week haha,

Going SYD > DPS > VTE with carry on luggage only and online check in already done. Hopefully i can avoid that $35USD.

        • im pretty sure man you can just transfer to other gate without actually entering the country

        • I doubt the gate staff will accept a printed at home boarding pass. It means that the passenger's passport hasn't been checked by the check in staff for identity and visa requirements.

      • or use your non-Aus passport - if you have one :)

        • +1

Lucky you. I know in KL if you book 2 separate flights you need to go through immigration even if you don't have checked in luggage. They only let you transit on a fly-thru ticket.

          @davehatcher pls keep us posted.

        • @Obs:

The boarding pass for the second flight instructs me to proceed straight to security or immigration and arrive at boarding gate, nothing about having any documents verified at the check in counter, which is usually the case for International transits. Will keep you updated.

        • @Obs: I had that at Singapore, because the discount flight/airline for the Thai sector was viewed as domestic.

"How long is your intended stay in Singapore?"
          Huh? 1hr?

      • Not with point-to-point carriers like Air Asia - You will be required to pass through Immigration and then check in for your next flight.

        • That depends on which carrier and airport. For instance, Jetstar Asia allows online check-in and straight to the gate on a lot of their routes without having to clear immigration.

        • @zappy32:
If you have checked luggage then they don't send it to your final destination, you need to pick it up and clear immigration to check it in. Haven't tried Jetstar asia, but this is the case for all I have flown.

          @singlemalt72:

Ahh yes, usually will need to go out through immigration if you have checked bags. I was more thinking of when you just have carry on luggage.

    • what are the dates

dps -kota kinabalu is giving me 150-160 return at the cheapest

      • 12-24 may works

when i looked earlier there seemed more dates at cheap rates.

  • Even though i prefer Air Asia X, lets hope Jetstar freaks out again like last time and has a sale this afternoon to compete $88 OW

    • OfficeWorks? :P

Nice deal. Make sure that your hotel bookings are refundable in case AirAsia 'pull' the flights like they sometimes do when new routes do not work out for them.

    • Or in case the volcano erupts again and your flight gets cancelled.

Price beat it with Jetstar for a further 10% off.

    • can you do it? air asia depart from sydney 12.40, jetstar depart arouond 5 pm, more than 3 hours of their price beat guarantee

      • +5

International flights Price Beat is same Day

Leaving at a comparable time. Both flights must leave:
Within one hour of each other if they’re domestic or trans-Tasman flights
Within one hour of each other if they’re intra-Asia flights
Within the same calendar day if they’re international flights (excluding intra-Asia and trans-Tasman)

        EDIT
        Confirmed. Book Price matched Fare.

Be determined though as the Call centre tried to tell my brother that they wouldn't price match, then they "reluctantly" agreed. Whereas my agent agreed straight away and booked it for me

        • What agent do you use?

        • @Dnkei: Jetstar direct is the way for PriceBeat, but given they have reduced prices to $109 there is no Price Beating needed

      • +1

For Jetstar price match on international flights, I believe it's same day rather than within an hour of departure like domestic flights.

        • Yep its same day. I did jetstar price match few days back.

        • Covered above

    • Thanks OP & extremist, just booked for flights during anzac long weekend next year, all up 650 for 2 people (compared to original quote of 3.5k by jetstar).

  • Interesting to see what Virgin will now do, as they switched to Tiger, except Sydney and Brisbane to DPS. Now AirAsia is flying direct I cant see Virgin holding on to SYD-DPS

  • +5

Air Asia time is very good departure time. arrive 3.40 pm, just in time for check in, not like other airlines that arrive at night, it just wasting first day to see sunset in Bali :)

  • +2

    Nice one.
Going there el-cheapo $119 ($72 Kids) and return business $366.
The return in business is worthwhile as the flight departs at 1:00am!
    And in the school holidays
Ordered some strange looking food…hope it tastes better than it looks.
    Thanks

    • Agree - Its a nicer one, with $107.40 with Jetstar each way Priced Match October Fare Plus no booking fee

  • Anyone know any good dentists to go to whilst there?

  • Also, dont forget the prices advertised on AirAsia don't include any chosen seats, fees or luggage or meals, this is where they slug you.

  • great deal. it was like $700 return to bali the other day.

Did a round trip from Bali to Kl and back for under $400 :D

  • When I look up Jetstar flights for June 2016 there are none? How has everyone else done this black magic price beat…

Jetstar listing flight price as SYD -> DPS $109 for dates until May 31st.

For Air Asia bookings, this is how it goes.

    1. Pick the fare.
    2. Then pick seating. If you buy 2 persons together, you could be scattered.
    3. Then baggage. And meals. Entertainment. Double up meal if it's a long flight. It's savings to pre-order.
    4. Then travel insurance. And bus transfers. Phone SIM card. Hotel option. No, no, no, no.
    5. Then to save further, have a PayPal account ready. No card fees this way.
    6. Do online check-in. Print out boarding pass. Show up at airport.

Just to say their economy seating on Airbus 330 is 3-3-3, whereas Qantas is 2-4-2.
AirAsiaGo is the Indonesian Air Asia arm.

It should award Ozbargain Frequent Flyer points so that we can buy more Eneloops, power banks to use on the long flight. :)

  • Pulled the trigger on this Jetstar deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/206167) and now I regret… Do they price beat for existing bookings?

  • +1

Jetstar's travel dates are not as spread as this , so still some may like to use price match.

I've been doing some fiddling on the air asia go package deal site, and managed to come up with this :

    SYD > DPS 6th December
25 Nights (yes thats right folks, twenty five) at Sapta Petala Kuta
    DPS > Syd 31st December

2 PAX (yes thats right folks, two people)

    Total cost : $1088 AUD

Yes its just a guesthouse, but looks quite decent.
Yes in the real world I think its crazy to spend 25 days in Kuta.
But I am an ozbargainer, I have to look for these things.

  • sigh can't get time off work… :~

  • anyone has experience with DPS transit from international flight to domestic? booked SYD > DPS > JKT with only 2hrs transit time (silly me!).. will that be enough time to pay VoA, going through Indonesian custom and run to domestic terminal to catch JKT flight? (assuming the flight from SYD is on-time).. thx for the info.

    • Last time went to Bali - May this year, the Jetstar flight, was out within a hour of landing Baggage was the greatest delay. Hope that helps. Maybe worth talking to the crew and see if they can help you deplane first. And or Alternatively purchase a seat up towards the front.
