  • i am using 5050 model, its great price

  • I got the the 5050 from jbhifi when they where clearing them out at 125. Wonder what went wrong with them?

Images from inside for anyone curious
    back of front
    front of back

  • Does anyone know if i need a harness adapter as per this link: http://www.doggy-online.com/how_to/how_to_corolla_head_unit.…

I have the exact same model car. Thanks.

I'm advising you people to not to buy any reconditioned stuff from greysonline, you will be regret..

    Trust me

    • This has a manufacturer warranty, so you don't need to deal with Grays if there is a problem. (thank deity!)

BTW, you would not know it from Grays, but this has a built-in amplifier, not just a pre-amp out. 55W x 4 (Sony watts)

And I would not bother buying those ISO harness adapters - it is very easy to just use a packet of clamp connectors to connect the supplied wiring harness to your car.
Its all colour-coded. Even easier if you use the RCA out to your existing amp's aux-in.

  • These will be the dumbest questions ever but please

    1. This doesn't come with speakers does it?
    2. Rough cost of installation?
    3. can some one give me a very brief run down on diff between two models. I just want to play beats from phone or usb stick via usb or bluetooh.

Its for a 94 corolla so yeah.

    • I hope you are not paying a car-audio shop to install it - might cost more than the '94 corolla is worth.
Its an easy job, because you don't need to run any new cables through the car.
Anything wrong with your old speakers?

hahahaha. Classic. Mum handed it down after paying like 2k for it. Fool.

Ok cool, ahhhhhhh, the speakers when im transmitting off fm transmitter cant handle normal bass.

So if speakers suck after buying it there would obviously be more of install running cables etc?

So you basically unscrew the face and then replace it with this? I can build a computer but never entered the car realm.

        • Thank you for your response.

        • Might be your FM, but bass in a car will be limited, unless you install bogan doof-doofs in the back and use your boot as a resonator.
This will definitely sound better than your old FM-transmitter setup.

if you are not afraid to assemble a PC, I cannot see how installing a car radio would be too challenging. Your Corolla has a standard DIN unit, right?

        • @manic: din? Standard stereo unit

I had a 4050 and returned it for a 5050. It is better featured, and was the top of the line in this model. The main thing I wanted was the ability to customize the display colour; it is fixed as red in the 4050.

      • pay extra $20 for the color. :)

        • Well when the rest of my car is illuminated yellow/green, then red is the most opposite and annoying colour available!

          @endotherm:

          you win, mate

  • Damn, missed out on my 5.5% cashback. Too excited to buy this and too quick off the mark to realize it.

  • Darn I was juggling browser windows and ordered the 4050 when I meant to get the 5050. What are the chances they'll let me amend the order?

  • Has anyone received their unit yet? I think they've made a mistake on their listing. I've received my unit but it's a CDX-G1050U, no bluetooth and no NFC, basically a lower end model instead of the MEXN4050BT listed.

If that's case, I will return this as I got this for the bluetooth and nfc function.

    • Got mine a couple of days ago, no problem.

    • I received mine and wired everything up to realise it didn't come with the mounting bracket that fits in my single DIN hole. Anyone else with this issue?

      • Mine came with one. It should be the skinny band wrapped around the body behind the faceplate highlighted in yellow. You attach it to the car first then slide the unit in. It should then lock inside the frame, and there are a couple of flat "keys" to remove it again. Of course it is possible they didn't include it when they reassembled it after it was refurbished.

        • Nope, mine did not come with one of those. I gave Grays Online a call and they said they'd check it out for me. Hopefully they send me a new one quick because this is really just not on.

        • @AnneFagit: Good luck. Otherwise, this is the cheapest I could find: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UNIVERSAL-DIN-RADIO-CD-MOUNTING-C… They are outrageously priced, surprisingly, for what they are. Maybe if there is a radio installer near you, they may have the odd one left over from when they install one in a car and they didn't need to use the supplied part.

        • Thanks for your insight! They never called me back but they did send me a new mounting kit in the mail express post which was really nice. All sorted!!!

    • i got mine last week. it is MEXN4050BT and works well.

Out of interest 00.com.au has this for the same price but shipping is a 25% cheaper

    • http://www.oo.com.au/ not 00. No cash rewards with oo though.

      • Yeah you get my drift. The speakers also were $4 cheaper (300w sony ones). I get 5% through some work program so its same same.
