  • Any deal on 5-30W engine old?

    • Nop, not that I can see.

      If you're an auto club member the repco 30% off deal should make Shell HX8 $35 ($50 RRP, 30% discount)

      http://catalogues.repco.com.au/catalogue/top-gift-ideas-for-…

      Magnatec 5w30 a bit more, and then the Castrol edge about $49.

      5W30 is too expensive in Oz IMO - it seems very cheap in the US in comparison and is very heavily used there

    Some other items also heavenly reduced

    Heavenly?

    • hahaha, I wish it was that much reduced. Fixed typo ;) Cheers!

  • Oil drain pan $2 that's a bargain.

    Too bad I don't service my own car/bike anymore

    $259.35 is a good price for a CIGWELD mig welder

      That's VERY cheap!

      Typically Ebay specials no name junk would sell at that price, but not Cigweld.
      I just wish they had the next one up for more power… but I am very tempted at this price to make do (the 150 is pretty much the same welder, just a few amps more 'powa' :) )

      Edited: Even Masters (who are running almost at a loss to break into the hardware market share of Bunnings) is selling this for $379.

      Yep, that's it I'm buying one :).

        you do know masters will beat it by 10%. You should get it for $233.

        • Thanks for tip mate, but 10% off excludes appliances unfortunately.

          And whilst a welder isn't normally referred to as an appliance, technically it is one by any definition of the word. They'll match it though- but I won't support a retailer who matches the sale price of another. You want my business, beat the price!

  • if you need more than ONE of anything ( qty) you need separate orders.

    • Now i understand what you mean :)
      If not, for 2 Oil Pans you will get charged $15.00

  • Got a drain pan, will be collecting the rest of the kit for an oil change over the next few months. I realised a few weeks ago that the Ford dealership have been putting 10w40 in my car for the last 3 years instead of the recommended 5w30 and now it's out of the capped price servicing period they are not going near it ever again.

    • But, just curious to know is there a big between these 2 types of oil?

      10w VS 5w —-> -25 degree C VS -30 degree C
      40 VS 30 —-> 14.5 VS 11

      • You're looking at the extreme numbers, and not considering the viscosity it will maintain at the normal operating temperature.

        A 5w30 oil is noticeably more 'water like' than a 10w40 when coming out of an engine hot. I'd be PISSED if a dealer was using thicker oil without my permission.

        They are sacrificing my fuel economy and performance for the sake of cheaper oil during capped price servicing, a quieter sounding engine, and potentially less oil leaks (equaling less work for them when their apprentice doesnt do a bolt up correctly).

        Unless they had a very good reason to use that different oil (like I lived in Saudi Arabia or towed with my Ford every day), I would be very angry they arent servicing it as per log book.

        • Pissed doesn't even cover it. Absolute bunch of charlatans with a litany of errors, omissions and outright lies is closer to the truth. All for the precious stamp in the service book. Never again.

  • Is that Jerry Can worth buying? Do they on 50%OFF special often??

    • No they don't, and yes, it's a good price if you need one.

    • 5L jerry cans are normally $10 from bunnings so $7.50 is pretty good.
