Keep the old credit card. Otherwise no.

It should be easy as banks are required to provide switching service, not many people are aware though

  • Applied and approved in 5 mins

Perfect! My next stage of pilot training is exactly $7500. I'll now have enough QFF points to fly first class return to Europe, dream :P

"To be eligible for the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black you must:
Be 18 years of age or over
    Have a good credit rating
Be a permanent Australian resident, earning a minimum annual income of $15,000 if applying for an ANZ credit card account (minimum $50,000 for a Platinum credit card and $75,000 for a Black credit card) or $50,000 in Australian Authorised Deposit-taking Institution (ADI) accounts." ref "or $50,000 in Australian Authorised Deposit-taking Institution (ADI) accounts." anyone without 75k income and 50k in deposits with anz successfully get the black card? might make a big cash deposit into wifes anz account to see if they will issue her a black card?

  • Will they credit you the points once you spend 7.5k or will they wait until the 3 month period to make the minimum spend is over? Anyone found this in the T&Cs?

    • The bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your ANZ account within three months of the eligible spend criteria being met.

  • Quick question. Could I buy something from my work for 8k, return it to a different card (buyers remorse), then pay off the ANZ card with the other?

    • +1

Paying off one card with another is going to count as a cash advance.
Since you carried a positive balance you should not pay much interest, but I believe in the fine print there might be something about getting charged at least one day's interest on a cash advance, plus the cash advance fee.

Might end up being like $15 for the privilege in the case.

      ($8000 * 20ish% interest / 365 ~= $5 + $10 cash advance fee.)

For people who spend more than $7500 in 3 months, is getting this card a no brainer? Provided this person has the time and effort to spend to apply and cancel the card in 12 months.

75,000 free points is about $500 in rewards … so even if I spend a whole hour doing the application and cancellation it is well worth my time it seems?

Are there any drawbacks to applying for this card?

    Thank you.

    • Application takes about 5 minutes. I spent another 2 minutes emailing them my pay slips.

      • Hi Sween64,
Are you aware of any drawbacks if I apply for this card if my plan is to get just my free $500 vouchers and then cancel?
I'm not planning on keeping the card with it's hefty annual fee.
        Thank you

        • Nope. That's what I plan to do.

        • @sween64:
          Thanks mate!

  • you get 2 visits to the amex lounge, anyone knows if i can bring spouse in free of charge?

    • +1

A spouse will use up one of your 2 visits i.e. you're using the "quota" of 2 visits in one hit.

I was also told it's per calendar year and not anniversary year, which is awesome for us who plan to cancel within a year to avoid the annual fee, because that means you could use it before 31 Dec, and then use it again Jan 1 2016 until you cancel in July/August 2016.

      • cool cheers mate, good to know. applied online got approved within 60s, too easy, waiting for the cards now.

when i tried using one of the lounges overseas (for the priority pass), it is per car holder - so you would want your +1 to have an additional card so they can enter too…

  • Any suggestions guys where to buy and get refund for 7K ??

  • OMG guys too much to spend! )) thats crazy! unless you are going to Bora Bora on holidays! Like true OZ bargainers)

I just had my 75k bonus points awarded. That was shown on the second month's statement and have appeared in my QFF account. I reached the minimum spend within the first month.

  • Has anyone been successful applying for the Black card with income under 75K?

  • Anyone else received their points now? I have spent the minimum now and I'm wondering how long it takes to receive the points. The T&C's say it could take up to three months after the eligible spend criteria being met.

Also, how does the Qantas club membership offer work? Does it mean I can get it for free?
