Apple iPad Air 2 16GB Wi-Fi Silver $481.78 @ Kogan (Other Models Highlighted)

CTREAT20

Original 20% Father's Day deal

Was just checking the iPad deals from Kogan for no reason. Seems like the cellular models have the best discounts. It's being compared to Australian stock RRP. Now if you were to factor in the occasional 10% off Apple deals from DSE/JB/etc then the % Discount figures would be about 8-9% less for eg the $619RRP Air 2 16GB WIFI only would be $557.10 after 10%, Kogan's current price of $487.38 would be 12.51% cheaper than such a deal.

Don't forget 2.5% CashRewards for a further discount.

Do keep in mind that this is Kogan - not the best rep for delivery and what not. I do not know Apple's warranty with these grey imported iPads. You have been warned :)

Model Colour Cellular RRP Price after 20% % Discount
Air 16GB Space Grey Yes $659 $492.04 25.34%
Air 2 16GB Silver Yes $779 $581.80 25.31%
Air 2 64GB Gold Yes $899 $696.38 22.54%
Air 2 16GB Silver No $619 $487.38 21.26%
Air 2 64GB Space Grey No $739 $589.96 20.17%

In people's experience, what would be the chance of this arriving before fathers day (so Friday 4th September at the latest) if purchased today.

  • Last time I bought iPad off Kogan, took about 2-3 weeks to arrive

Or try this seller. Only iPad Air 64Gb WiFi available but great deal at 20% off.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-iPad-Air-2-64GB-Silver-Wi-F…

They at least sell Australian stock. Would recommend over the Kogan ipads from Hong Kong with a power plug converter.

    • looks like the stock i linked to has now sold out.

  • why are the prices so expensive with kogan? hmm the gold ones cost a premium with them…

    • What is really concerning is that they are pretty much charging retail for Grey Import stock from Hong Kong.

  • Last time I bought something from Kogan with 20% off deal .. they cancelled it 2 days before ETA after waiting almost a month for it.

  • negged for not being a deal for grey import and plus being more expensive for the gold model

    • +1

The Gold Model is the cellular version, Silver is only WiFi

thanks, I'm a tool for not being able to read a table :S
still, not really a deal for grey market

        • +1

what would be a good deal for grey import then? genuine question..

          (i didn't neg you)

        • @CVonC:
well, seeing that you can easily get a 10% off at apple stores and most retailers. I would, personally, say 20% savings to begin with for a grey import.

no probs for the neg, haters will be haters

aren't the ones i listed at least 20%? or do you mean 20% on top of the already discounted 10%?

          @nerd1:

Mhhh … considering the iPad Air 2 16GB Wifi Version costs here AU$ 589.96 and in the AU Apple store AU$739 … you might consider importing it from the US … a grey import costs there only US $599 … which is roughly AU $832 … !

So you considering the US price you get a AU $832 (US$ 599) item for AU $589.96 … now you have around 29% discount! WOW … makes it a far better deal! ;-)

Maybe I should compare the price at Apple Germany … which is in EUR 589 ( AU$ 944) … makes our deal of AU$ 589.96 a 37% discount deal … OMG … it gets better and better.

I agree that the FUTU deal on eBay was far better (as it is the AU version … charger, warranty and eligible for TRS). But I expect the prices of the iPad to go up in the next round and so consider this a great deal … A grey import can only be cheaper when the item gets sold for less money in a different country. I doubt we will see these prices again when our dollar gets weaker and weaker … The iPad is one of the last Apple products which has not been adjusted in price.

Around 20% off the Australian price is pretty good.

          64GB* :)

        • @mini_wombat:
For me to consider a grey import Apple product, I'd want it to be at least 20% (maybe 15% for big ticket items) less than local product. Kogan is charging the same price as Futu was charging and Futu being a local product is what I would buy.

          this is my opinion

Ooops … all these calculations and then this basic mistake … thanks for correcting!

          @nerd1:

I would love this too and I also think that around 20% make it a good deal … (refurbished from Apple is always the other option as their refurbished products are usually in perfect condition and have a similar price tag to the grey imports or cheaper).

As we have around 20% I wouldn't say the neg is necessary … but agree the Futu deal was much better (purchased it myself :-).

        • @nerd1:

Yeah this wouldn't be a bargain at all if there was no 20% eBay discount. But the fact is there is :S

  • Will this be eligible for tax refund scheme at the airport?

    • +1

No as it's a grey import.

  • Can't comment on iPad delivery time, but I had super-fast delivery on a set of suitcases purchased on Kogan's recent "appsclusive" free shipping deal. The app order wouldn't give me free shipping, but a whinge to Kogan got me an instant refund of delivery charge. Very happy with Kogan!

  • Looks like the prices went already up (the AUD is in free fall right now!) —> 64GB WIFI is now $604.42 after the 20% discount

    • Lmao GG
