  • no deal.

      Why is that?

      • +2

$70/mo for first 6 months, then $80/mo afterwards, for 500GB, no deal for me thank you.
TPx - $59.99/mo, DoDx - $59.75/mo (can provide through Telstra DSLAMS with no offnet cost).

        • +2

          So don't buy it.
i think this is more directed to us NBN users rather then the ADSL2+ users.

        • -1

yeah… for the "first 6 months"… on a 6 month contract, lol… only $80 a month if you stay with them after (and I imagine calling them and telling them you want to disconnect would possible result in it staying $70 or if you did another 6 months)

TPG and DODO are potentially cheaper yeah - but do either have month to month or 6 month contracts?

I would if belong provided service to my exchange. Belong (Telstra) seem to only choose exchanges where they have cheaper competition from iinet or tpg, and leave the Telstra only exchanges forcing customers to use Telstra or an offnet reseller which costs an arm and a leg.

If they are ging to offer a service using Telstra DSLAMs at least offer the service to everybody

  • So, I got an email from Exetel saying they'll be porting me over to an Optus DSLAM next month.

Does Belong Broadband provide services to those that are on a RIM and can only get Telstra/reseller?

Been with them for a few months. Speed isn't great on ADSL2 but that could just be the line. There call centre at the moment is woefully understaffed. I have called twice and been on hold for 40-60 mins each time.

They were trying to blame the slower internet speed to the telephone line. They even sent 2 technicians to my place and I was told I've got the best line in my area.

In fact, it is the congestion. I've changed to TPG and I am getting decent speed all the time.

At least I've learnt my lesson, you get what you've paid for. Free installation sometimes cost you more money and time to figure out the issue.

Let's say no to advertisement for substandard product/service here on Ozbargain!

Bjdchwr, exactly the same here (had to take 2 mornings off to faciliate the tech visits), tech showed me on his professional modem a solid 21Mpbs came in. I always had great speeds during the day but in the evenings I would hardly get more than 2Mbps (tried 3 different modems). At the end they acknowledged it was an issue on their end, something to do with their 'virtual layer'. I would be put on a different layer within 2 business days. 4 weeks later, still nothing. Friendly staff to talk to but pretty hopeless when it comes to improving things. Glad I moved on to Telstra cable.

        • I think they have some 'extra' layer AFAIK.

When I made a complaint to TIO and got my 6-month-contract cancelled (without paying penalties) the other day, I was getting fairly good speed in the evening. However, I had made the decision to change to TPG as soon as I got my plan cancelled.

When I did a trace route, it shown that one of the route went through 202.93.111.149 instead of 202.93.111.150. I believed this was the so called 'extra' layer as I had no speed related issues any more (before I got my service ported to TPG).

        • @bjdchwr:

          Here is the proof :-)

          No longer with Belong, yay!!!

I've just been connected on Belong's 100/40 mbs NBN plan and am a little disappointed with the speed - here's a speed test from late last night http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4609217144, and another just now http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4611125347. Knowing what I know now, I'd recommend going with either Exetel or TPG.

    • +1

      That is definetly a problem.

      im 12/1 on TPG Unlimited.
call them and complain and you are simply not getting what you are paying for.
this isnt adsl when they can turn you away aslong as you are getting the minimum allowed which was normaly 1 down or something.

      • I probably will, when I have an hour or so to be left on hold. It's likely this is an oversubscribed backhaul, if that's the case I doubt much will change in the short term regardless of whether I complain or not.

        • Then cancle and go to another company.

The modem that comes with this is TERRIBLE. Put a new modem/router on top of your estimated price.

  • Recently signed up with Belong from Exetel. Speeds are erratic but support have been helpful. I contacted them via twitter instead of the phone as it seems to be better response time. Anyway here is the OzB forum for Belong users & anyone wanting $20 after this 'promo' PM me.

  • +1

That's the normal price and discount is not more than the usual referral as per wiki. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/belong_referral_links
