  • Where's the freebie?

      • +18

Free upgrade is not completely free. Don't abuse the freebie tag.

        • -4

sorry @m9 i'm new on here thought it meant there is nothing extra to pay.

      • -3

Same price as exetel and others. Make it 70 and ull get more customers

        • +8

Exetel don’t even offer to opt out of CGNAT and no Static IP.

  • -2

I’m with Leaptel now for 500mbps and $80

    • +7

then its $92.95 ongoing after 12 months.

      • +34

This is ozbargain m8. If any of us are with an ISP for longer than that we’re doing something wrong.

        • +1

I've been with Future since 2020 and the price hasn't changed, so I've remained loyal.

  • +29

Free upgrade just like every other provider, no?

  • Hey @carboncomms, deal looks good! Just confirming is the static ip or switching off cgnat free or would that be a paid add on?

    • +13

@Ibz Static IP and No CGNAT is free

  • +6

Guys just here to help and extended our nbn services to OzBargain

    • How many POP do you have in Oz and there locations?

Do you have a looking glass?

      • One Sydney POP.

  • +2

    No love for opticomm :(

    • Not even a response from the rep :((

      • +1

Waiting for better pricing for opticomm services. Once we get this i'll be passing on to new customers and existing

        • Hmmmm..

Just signed up with Superloop last night instead - $85 pm for 6 months, 1000/50mb.

Might be worthwhile reaching out to opticomm ;)

          • @SlifSlif: we are working on it i can assure you.

The are using aussie bb, service seems to be decent but relatively new ISP still sorting out the kinks by the looks of it. Will give it a try

    • Been in business since 2018.

      • Ah okay sorry! When did you start NBN services via Aussie wholesale?

        • -1

          Since 08/06/2025

          • +36

            @carboncomms: So relatively new…..

          • -3

@carboncomms: Right, so what part of

service seems to be decent but relatively new ISP

didn't you understand? No one commented or asked how long you've been in business.

            • +2

@KangaDrew: We understand your comment, however we just wanted to clarify that Carbon Comms has been in business since 2018 and has been providing all our services since then.

  • Has anyone tried these guys before? How do they compare to superloop and leaptel in terms of service quality and reliability?

    • +11

I signed up last Monday. Service was activated quickly on a second port as requested for me to give it a try before I gave up my other service. Initial hickup with my name being botched on my account but the service itself has been perfect. Customer service response was ultra quick in sorting the issue. For the price of the service, the included static IP and not having to worry about churning in 6 months when the honeymoon price expires it hits the spot for value for me. It's worked well enough for me that the other service I had is now disconnected.

      • +1

That’s some good insights. Thanks 🙏🏽

      • +1

        Thanks for sharing

      • +3

Not having to churn would be amazing.

  • +2

30 plus people recently signed up since our last deal post. More than happy to help.

    • I'll sign up at end of Oct.

    • I’ll sign up if you make it $10 cheaper than what everyone else is offering

  • would you consider joining some of the cashback offers e.g. via econnex or shop back? Keen to then give you a go

  • what backhaul network Carbon Comms uses for their NBN service?

    • +6

Aussie BB backhaul. Carbon Comms doesn't have IPv6 yet and higher latency due to one Sydney POP.

      • No Melbourne PoP?

        • Not yet.

        • +1

This is what I'm waiting on.

      • +4

How to find out how many POPs an RSP has?

        • Would like to know this to when comparing RSP is there an easy way to find out or a list somewhere?

          • @Spizz: No easy list, the larger providers have POPs mainly in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, sometimes Brisbane but not always.

Smaller providers it's not uncommon to see only Sydney or Melbourne (sometimes both). No real list that I know of, some have looking glasses which indicate their PoP's (if they have a looking glass there they like have a full POP there).

  • +1

Will this be always available price wise? I.e including static IP even when the new speed upgrades arrive? I'm cautious that some providers will bump prices when the new speeds arrive. I'm on 250/25 already so dropping to 100/20 doesn't make sense til 500/50 plans arrive. I'm auto bumped to 750 but I don't really need that..

    • +6

Yes price and service won’t change

      • +1

Hi mate, any similar offers on opticomm plans?

        • Nothing at the moment. We are waiting for better pricing for Opticomm. As soon as we get it we will be passing on to customers new and existing

  • +1

Excetel 500/50 is $80 on going

    • +5

No idea how good this mob is, but a few things about Exetel (from their live chat)

Just to let you know, The One Plan:

      -Is fully prepaid
-Supports CGNAT only (no Static IP or Dynamic IP)
      -Offers live chat support only
-Does not support VoIP or Exemail

      • Plus Exetel supports IPv6 and has lower latency.

      • Swapped a week ago, all good, don’t need any of that.

    • +1

Exetel $80 plan has CGNAT Ipv4 that you can't opt out of, not ideal for some.

  • +1

I am in Perth metro. Is there any issues for us here in WA?

    • I wouldn't use them since you live in WA.

Carbon Comms doesn't have IPv6 yet and higher latency due to one Sydney POP.

    • Well they use Aussie Broadband, so it could be fine. Rep, can you confirm?

      • Carbon Comms uses Aussie BB backhaul. The network is not the same as using Aussie BB direct.

    • I am in Perth Metro. Just joined them, no issues at all. Smooth transition, took them an hour to set up everything. I was with Aussie Broadband

      • and is there a PoP in Perth? Can you ping and traceroute to 1.1.1.1 and post the results here?

        • Not in Perth. One Sydney POP.

      • +2

…did you mean to click associated?

        Your profile also says Adelaide?

        • VERY SUS

  • Exetel one plan 500/40 for 80 ongoing right now.

  • That is great for right now, but they have CG-NAT, not a Static IP.

    • +8

They being Exetel who don't give you a Static IP and CG-NAT is on.

Carbon Comms includes a Static IP and CG-NAT is off.

  • Can I sign up for this same deal in September after the speed upgrade has been implemented?

  • +1

this is not a deal, now we have companies coming out stating amazing new speeds and charging prices that are not in line with the costs of the actual wholesale rate. Everyone please wait. I promise better deals are a foot next month

    • +3

What stops you from churning to a better deal if it comes?

      There are NO LOCK-IN CONTRACTS.

  • Normal RSP price at the moment.

    • With Static ip?

  • Just to clarify your wording OP, Is it a free speed upgrade in September only? Or from September ongoing?

    • 500/50 ongoing from mid September.

  • got disappointed learning all the NBN upgrade is from 14 September and not first of September.

  • Any upgrades on the other plans or just this one? i.e if I signed up now to the 1000/50Mbps plan does that improve in Sept?

    • 1000/100.

  • +3

    100/20 to go to 500/50
    250/25 to go to 750/50
    1000/50 to go to 1000/100

    • +1

What does the Carbon Family nbn™ go to?
      100/40 to go to?

      • 100/20 would be your best deal it would go to 500/50

        Nothing planned for 100/40

        • I am FTTB. This being the case, if I signed up for 100/20 would it also upgrade to the maximum capacity? Being 100/40. You mention there’s no changes for the current 100/40 plan but this seems a bit odd given the pricing. I understand these plans are for HTC and FTTP customers but it creates a bit of unintended pricing disparity for FTTB and FTTN users.

          Current FTTN and FTTB:
100/20 is $80 (change in Sep’?)
100/40 is $85 (OP says no change in Sep’)

Then in comparison HTC and FTTP:
100/20 (massive speed upgrade in Sep)
100/40 (OP says no change in Sep’, not sure if offered to FTTN and FTTB customers)

          I may have this wrong.

          • @dann: No, 100/20 doesn't change to 100/40. 100/20 and 100/40 is still going to be available on nbn FTTN/FTTB and the price stays the same.

nbn FTTB doesn't have a free upgrade path to FTTP yet. Many homes on nbn FTTN/FTTC can get a free FTTP installation.

            • @Twix: Thanks Twix. So in effect FTTN and FTTB are paying more for less than HFC and FTTP. I get that this is unavoidable where network speed limits are reached but this is not one of those situations.

It sucks enough to be in a position of having shittier options for internet, I don’t see why providers need to kick us when we are down.

              • @dann: That's right. Unfortunately politics got AU into the multi tech mess. nbn has to rebuild the network to FTTP again and it's going to take into the 2030s.

You're stuck with nbn FTTB 100/20 and 100/40 until FTTP comes along (ETA unknown), maybe Vision Network FTTB, maybe 5G internet or moving to somewhere with nbn FTTP.

              • @dann: @dann it does suck. unfortunately the nbn is in a mess when they went multi tech like @Twix ios saying. Some FTTB Or FTTN services that are in a multi dwelling maybe eligable for FTTP once the landlord submits a New Development Form to have this done. But you could say in some cases your internet is in the hands of the owner of the building. To give you an idea why they don't do it sometimes is the following: It costs the landlord $600 per apartment/tenancy so lets say its 50 apartments it would cost landlord $600 x 50 = $30,000.00 crazy right.

  • +2

When will you have other POPs in states other than Sydney. This year, next year etc?

  • +1

We just moved to ABB on 08/06/2025. I don’t think it’s far away. We’ve been told it’s on the roadmap. Unfortunately not our decision but it’s been raised.

  • When will the deal end? my current ISP deal is ending end of the month, considering switching over.

    • Happy to honour the deal. I believe it kicks over 15/09/2025

      • I believe it kicks over 15/09/2025

        14th Sept 2025

        • +1

          sorry typo its 14/09/2025

  • For the static IP, will you also setup reverse DNS aka PTR record?

    • I believe this is a yes

  • +3

Just signed up for 250/25. will see how the service latency is for in-land and oversea and share once connected.

    • @zionarc Let me know how you go :o)

  • Interested in this, if a user downloads 2-3TB in 1 month will there be an issue with any 'fair use policy' or will you be put in another bandwidth 'pool' which sucks during peak times? I did that with exetel a few months ago and I noticed my peak time speeds went to trash for the following month or two.

    • -1

@c0dingmachine haven't had this problem before

  • Is it free upgrade to 500/50 in September and onwards, or just one month? Wording a bit unclear.

    • NBN will upgrade the speed for everyone regardless. Expect no more speed 100 in the future I guess.

      • +2

@bcYield i have a feeling they are aiming to scap the lower end plans.
They have to keep probably 50/20 and 100/20 and 100/40 for existing FTTB, FTTN and FTTC customer. I feel like they might force everyone to do the FTTP upgradde when it's availabe. But thats my opinion and i could be wrong

  • What I can do the static IP? I might give this ago. Superloop offers a free phoneline. I also want to try that.
