i3-4030U, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dell-Tablet-Inspiron-11-3000-…)

Just a little bit of research here for a touchscreen AIO.

Was looking at the HP Pavilion x360 at JBHifi's 15% off 2 weeks ago, but missed the boat ($508.00) due to hemming and hawing.

Saw a father's day promo on DELL website for this alternative (DELL Inspiron 11 3000) which seems heaps better, thinner, better screen, etc.
Father's Day promo is 10% off for Dual-core Celeron/Pentium version and 15% off for i3 version. Not much savings.

Remembered CTREAT20 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/208273) and checked the DELL website, not expecting the father's day promo, but lo and behold, it was already discounted without voucher.
Looked at the i3 version because that's what caused the hemming and hawing in the first place.

Applied voucher and brought price from $799 down to $543.20, savings of 32%.

Cheapest on Amazon is US$519.99 (~A$727.92) so appears to be a bargain.

For the non-i3, savings are thus:
1. Intel® Celeron® Dual Core N2840 Processor - Fathers day promo $549 ($439.20 with CTREAT20), savings of 26.67% from RRP$599
(http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dell-Tablet-Inspiron-11-3000-…)
2. Intel® Pentium® Processor N3540 - Father's day promo $599 ($479.20 with CTREAT20), savings of 31.15% from RRP$699

  • Could you link to the product directly. For some reason i can't find that exact configuration

    • EDIT: Dang it, I didn't see the comment below.

  • So I believe it is possible to run some app on these so the user can run android apps right?

    • +1

You can install a program called Bluestacks that runs android apps. It's much slower than running them natively in android though

      • DuOS I've heard works well too.

        • I heard it does…..didn't wanna work on my laptop tho :(

    • You can dual boot Android if you want. there is also a very clumsy method of running Android apps inside Chrome using ARC Welder. Touch is not supported the last time I read about it.

      https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/arc-welder/emfinbm…

    • really? can make it dual boot win and android?

      • Not difficult to do. The chinese tablets and Windows 8 TV boxes already have dual boot set up out of the factory.

You just need to install GRUB bootloader.

I dual booted Android and Windows on my crappy Acer N270 Atom netbook years back. Most things worked fine.

  • I almost bought the Inspiron 11 few weeks back. I looked up the reviews on the dell site and amazon - there are loads of complaints regarding the touch pad. Read them before you buy this. Also went to DS/JB, they have this on display - they build quality on the outside is good, but the keyboard din't feel right. The whole keyboard sinks in if you press moderately.
The form factor is well thought, price is good, fix the build quality.

I returned one last month as it developed 'phantom touches' on the screen along with an unresponsive touchpad also worth noting the 'rubberised/soft touch' coating is a scratch magnet.

  • had one last year from the outlet. refurb looked.like it had been used as a Frisbee! ghost touches from the off, and on replacing hdd with ssd USB 3 went out the window completely! shame as other than being a bit heavy for an 11 incher it had promise. maybe a mark 2 version will be better!

  • Hi Folks - OP thanks for the posting - I am seriously considering getting this product. I just want to put it out there - what do you folks think, this 2-in1 or wait to get a cheap Surface 3 or the Surface 4? (I am giving my 2014 Macbook air to my sister for uni)

  • +1

Surface 3 doesn't come with Stylus or Keyboard. Adding either or both would bring the $699 price up to $900+.
It DOES have a better processor and screen but it IS twice the price - so, ball's in your court.

If you miss the CTREAT20 bargain, then it might just pay off to see what Surface 4 brings. However, it is still TBA as only Surface 4 Pros are scheduled to launch next month.

    • Thanks for reply. I got the i3 version last night - it was a really good price. I think the i3 is a better processor than the Atom in the surface 3. I spoke to the Microsoft rep in Jb Hi-Fi and he said I can't go wrong with the i3 processor for that price. Thanks for the post Op!
