  • Is this the Chinese version that support microSD cards?

    • Hello,

This is the worldwide version so it doesn't look like it supports microSD cards. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks.

      -Chris

      • +2

How much for the Chinese version? The microSD card support is essential.

        • +3

Yup. Awesome price, but now we know why… Without microSD, its dead to me.

      • +2

Damn, why is there a version without microSD??

      • "it doesnt look like"?

        • +3

forgive me, the international version does not support microSD cards

        • @JDglobal: Thanks

        • @JDglobal: I just got my phone, sd card works fine in it.

        • @awinner:

Assuming you bought from JD, how long did it take for for delivery?

      • +1

        Hello,

I just spoke with the merchant and they confirm that there is a microSD card slot. Sorry for the misinformation.

"Flagship phone the choice of the young. And always go beyond their second."
Sounds like a Chinese version to me.

  • +2

good price, cheaper than your competitors!

  • Shipping time to Melbourne? Will it have play store installed?

  • +3

Does the phone have any 'Note' related functionality? or its just the size which matches the early Galaxy Note phones?

  • +2

Do you sell the micro SD version? thanks

    • +1

      Hi,

I just spoke with the merchant and they confirmed that the version we are selling does have a microSD card slot.

      -Chris

  • +1

Hi OP - any chance you could list the Chinese version (that supports the SD card slot)?

    • +2

      Hi,

Just confirmed with the merchant that the version we sell does have a microSD card slot. Sorry for any confusion.

  • +4

Op, are you sure the 2nd SIM slot does not support microSD?

  • +1

It's really good phone, I'm currently using RedMi 2 with 2G Ram version, working perfectly with Telstra 4G. I'm also looking for upgrading to RedMi Note 2

  • I'm also for a microSD version!

  • +1

According to Gizchina.com they have confirmed a micro sd is available (max 32GB expansion) card http://www.gizchina.com/2015/08/13/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-hands…

I wonder how long shipping will be? I just got my Redmi Note 2, I ordered it last week from eBay because I dropped my G2 the same day the RN2 was released.

I paid $255, but I don't mind that this deal is cheaper, it is a lot of phone, either for $212 or $255.

It 100% has an MicroSD slot, I have a 32GB in there now. 4G works with Amaysim (Optus).

Play store is NOT installed. There is a beta for the Global MIUI 7 ROM, but the list of phones does not include the RN2 as yet. They say when there is a global launch in 2-3 months there will be a global ROM.

The phone has no "Note" functionality, there is no stylus. I think just because it is 5.5" they called it Note. And now, Galaxy 6 Edge+ has no stylus either.

    • It 100% has an MicroSD slot

There's 2 different versions; one version definitely has a microsd slot, but maybe they both do.

And now, Galaxy 6 Edge+ has no stylus either.

No one ever thought it did,

    • Is it easy enough to install Play Store? I just ordered an RN2 today and haven't messed around with Android much, so atm I have no idea how to do this. I noticed on some Youtube vids that people seem to have it installed.

      • I am having issues the way I have tried it following a few guides.

I have to upgrade from MIUI 6 to MIUI 7 first, then install TWRP and then install the GAPPS file. That should work.

The ROM download is really slow, and I stuffed it up the first time because my download manager auto-extracted the .zip and when I re-zipped it, it said it was corrupt so I have to download it again.

      • download and install google installer.apk, it has all google service app.
I did this way on my redmi 2

      • Its an international version. It should come with Google apps preinstalled. If not just download Google play services and install Google play store.

  • +1

Their return policy states that you don't need to pay for return shipping cost if the product is defective. Are they for real?

    • +1

      You shouldn't pay.

  • Ordered for my niece. Thanks Rep.

  • -1

16gb with no micro sd option kills the deals

    • Hi,

I just spoke with the merchant and they confirm that there is a microSD card slot. Sorry for the misinformation.

      -Chris

  • Whats better? Paying with credit card or PayPal? The last time I ordered from JD PayPal charged about 6$ or so fees plus the shitty AUD to USD conversion with PayPal. I am about to pay for this order but would like to know what people in here think.

  • +1

Its actually $222 paying with PayPal. Not the $212 exchange rate price listed. 5% fee for a 200$ phone. F@#$!!

    • In Paypal, there is a setting where you can use your bank's exchange rate.

      • +1

Would be nice if you can point it out to me please? I spent ages on PayPal website and I can't seem to find that option anywhere in the account settings.

        • Add a debit or credit card to your PP payment options. To effectively save money, it will need to not charge currency conersion fees and have a good exchange rate, e.g. citibank plus debit, bankwest platinum, 28 degrees.

Currency conversion fees are factored into the exchange rate given by PP, e.g. today`s rate is 0.688

        • @kusala:

I've added my debit card as the primary paying option and credit card is the secondary. The credit card is the debit card. It is a debit card that can be used as an EFTPOS transaction or Visa Credit transaction. The OP stated that "Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, 4G Phone $212.57AUD ($152.99USD) with Coupon, Free Shipping @ JD" However when payment is made using Paypal. The final price was $221.25 instead of the $212.57 that was advertised. My point is why did PayPal charged another $8-9 extra? Werent they supposed to charge the seller for all transactions fees?

        • @HandsomeMonkey:

          That's paypal's currency exchange rate.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/LifeProTips/comments/12n47q/lpt_if_…

Can't find the setting anymore in the Paypal website as it has changed, but read the 3rd comment there.

        • +1

          @HandsomeMonkey:

To obtain the final AUD price when purchasing in USD with PayPal is a convoluted process. There were less steps in the former PayPal web layout. Anyway, here is the process: Log in to PayPal → My PayPal → PayPal Balance → Manage Currencies. Then in the right hand column under Currency Exchange, replace Balance Conversion with Payment Conversion, select From Australian Dollar to US Dollar, enter Amount & Convert [For fewer steps, the Currency Exchange page could be bookmarked in your browser]. Currently, USD 152.99 converts to AUD 222.22 with exchange rate 1 AUD = 0.688481 USD

Using this method, I always check the final PayPal price before making a payment in USD. As I mentioned in my previous post, to pay less, you need to use a card linked to an account that doesn't charge currency conversion fees [typically 3%] and a better exchange rate, if possible. At present, the AUD is very low, so it is difficult to save much money, esp. on small purchases. In my PayPal account, I have different payment options: bank account, a visa debit card linked to that account & a citibank plus visa debit card. With the citibank card, there is no currency conversion fee & exchange rates are at least better than the PayPal. For example, today's citibank USD selling rate is 0.7072. To calculate the AUD price of the Note 2, USD 152.99 is divided by 0.7072 = AUD 216.36. The amount debited from my citibank account would probably be a dollar or so more than this - at least, going by yesterday's small purchase using the citibank card via PayPal, a USD 6.99 ebook. Using straight calculation, the cost would be AUD 9.88, but on checking my citibank account the amount debited is 9.92 [PayPal cost would be AUD 10.16]. Generally, the 28 degrees card has better exchange rates than citibank plus visa debit card.

        • @kusala:

Thanks for your details information. Clearly PayPal exchange is about 3-5% more than the OP price posted. Might just shop with Aliexpress next time.

  • 2).Most dual sim mobile phone only one sim slot support 3G WCDMA network.

Owner of this phone (FDD 16GB / Prime mainstream editions) please confirm 1/ mSD expandability and 2/ ability to properly alternate toggle Au 4G networks.
+ is the glass film sufficient durable? +2GHz clocked yield best SoT?

Seems like MIUI 7 doesn't arrive until later in any event.

    • +2

I have 16GB Chinese version and it has mSD slot for sure, just it doesn't work with my 64GB card (even with FAT32), so I had to order a 32GB Kingston with the eBay deal yesterday for under $14.

There is no "worldwide" version so I don't know why the Store Rep mentions this. There is only the 2 Chinese version, cheaper one for China Mobile and the one I have which is for China Telecom and works on 4G in Australia.

The glass is not Gorilla Glass 3 or anything like that, but it probably has a similar thing because I saw a story on the news about this billionaire woman, it is probably from her factory or similar: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/02/business/international/how…

Anyway, my LG G2 had GG2 but that didn't stop it being smashed to smithereens the other week.

I don't know what you mean about +2Ghz yield, but to be honest the extra 200mhz of the Prime version would not make much difference for me. I play games on my iPad anyway. Let me just tell you, Google Maps, moving around, zooming in and out, even with Satellite layer - all I can say is that the speed is amazing on this phone. It loads the app quicker, everything is just so much snappier than my G2's Snapdragon 800.

MIUI 7 is here, China Developer Beta ROM v5.8.27, I upgraded to that already.

I also got Google Apps working: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/general/how-to-…

      • Where did you buy it from and did it have Google Play pre-installed?

      • I am having trouble discerning all the difference miui versions.

Can you tell me if the latest rom is based on android 5.1.x or 5.0.x?

        • The latest is 5.0.x for MIUI v7 (which just came out) however handsets older than probably 18 months are still running MIUI v7 with KitKit.

      • Thanks for the clarifying firsthand information, appreciated.

Yep give/take .2ghz need not matter; overclock for lowered battery life.

Penny for your thoughts MIUI aficionados: Has it been Xiaomi's past practice to Update 1-2yo eg v3/v4 devices to later MIUI 5, 6- ??
(I 'm pleased to have just recd 5.1 on oneplus w Sony sensor NFC etc)

I've too a S64GB EVO card but ridiculous I cannot move this into one 80gb- power Xiaomi. Company stance on limiting, or much worse ommitting, expandable storage is outrageous that I would sooner ditch some arrogant brands.

But splendid news https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SI13qTXcfE that at least XRN2 came out undrownable/ unscratchable. Do not need a tempered glass perhaps.

Even more compelling, if indeed accurate, the MIUI 7 India launch video showing their optimised phone have 34% battery over S5 & G3 when those had drained to zero already from I think 11hours!

  • I'm very confused by the conflicting comments. So this does or doesn't have a microSD slot? The gizchina link above implies that both 16GB and 32GB version should have microSD slot? I didn't even know there was a version without microSD slot.

    • I think the store rep is wrong, and hasn't bothered to update the misinformation. The FDD LTE 16GB model I have has three slots inside, two for SIM cards and one for MicroSD.

      It looks like this: http://www.gizchina.com/2015/08/14/yes-the-xiaomi-redmi-note…

Yes you are right. I just spoke with the merchant this morning and they confirmed that there is a microSD slot for the phone we sell. Sorry for the misinformation and for the confusion.

    Hello all,

I was misinformed so forgive me for any confusion caused on this thread. I contacted the merchant this morning and confirmed that the phone we sell does have a microSD slot. This information has been updated to the original post. Thank you for your patience.

    -Chris

    • Does this phone come with Google play store?

      • Yes, this was confirmed by the seller when I made contact a few days back.

  • Anyone in Melbourne would like to buy this together and post with DHL? The express post is much cheaper when you got more than 1 it seems..

    • DHL costs $USD63.11. Holy crap

      • Yeah, but if you get 2 it comes down to 20+. Pretty weird to me

    • +1

I bought two from an ebay seller, my brother didn't want it, I sold it on Gumtree for $280 in less than 24 hours and made $25 :D

If you explain how good the specs are, I am sure you can flog it quickly.

  • Hmm can't find cashback for JD.com on shopandmint, pink or CashRewards. Still good!

          @dcnguyen82:
see the copy paste you replied just now.

It is showing on their English website still sharp's display and samsung sensor.

In China, JD already repays everyone with a 5000mah powerbank for covering their cheat.

You can check Chinese news about Xiaomi's cheating.

  • Hi, still confused with this phone, Can you please conofirm? Is it China Mobile 4G version or China Telecom/China Mobile Dual 4G version? Tried buy one, but can't see where to put the coupon when check out. Which step to put the coupon? The JD website accepts free shipping the Australia, but other guys mentions only DHL available. how many days to arrival Sydney if choose free shipping option.

    • It is not the China TDD only version, but rather the FDD & TDD version. I was informed by JD that the promotion ends today, 15:00 China time - 17:00 AEST, so you'll need to purchase quickly. There is no guarantee how long free delivery will take - it may be as long as thirty days or so.

Steps to purchase: sign up for JD account (will only take few minutes); on item page, under $172.99, select shipping country Australia & then free shipping and OK; add to cart; then checkout; on checkout page, left hand side, you'll see Coupon; enter JD888 & apply; final price $152.99 will show on right hand side; submit order & pay.

      • Use coupon code "JD888" for $20USD off (exp. Aug 31). New $20USD coupon will be available in September so this price will last! (deal will be updated with new coupon)

I think the OP will update with a new coupon.

        • The information I have given is correct - coupon still valid now - expires in 45 minutes - expiry time is midnight US central time 31 August.

From JD:Regarding the coupon JD888 you mention in the email, we have verified with our relevant department that the expiration date is at 15 pm China time on in 1 sept.

        • @kusala: Ozhunter is just saying that OP mentioned this current coupon code is set to expire today (as you mention) but he will release a new one and update this post once the new one is active, AFTER this one expires.

        • @illumination:

Yes, but that information may have confused chenqc who was wishing to purchase today, it seems. On a tablet, it took me some time to type the instructions for him. Anyway, the coupon has now expired. It is good to be aware that Chinese promotions are not necessarily based on Australian time, but rather international.

I also decided to wait for the next coupon as there may be more choice of colours & hopefully, the AUD will be stronger….

        • @kusala:

JD999 is new $20 voucher code

  • Is this pre-order? when would they be sent out?

    • No, the phone has already been released to be sold. It would ship out within 5 days of payment

      • Damn, just saw your reply and it looks like it's sold out! any chance of more stock?

        • Just spoke with the merchant. They have more in stock now.

  • The phone is currently out of stock. Will it restock soon?

    • Just spoke with the merchant. They have more in stock now

      • 1/ ETA date expected to arrive in AU NSW?
2/ which HW test app to check for SHARP/AMSUNG
2/ availability colours yellow blue pink etc. when

      • Thanks mate. Any chance of other colors? even black? :)

  • Hello all,

The new coupon code for $20 off for September has been updated to the post.

  • Xiaomi Note 2 Vs Xiaomi Note 2 Prime
    What shall i get?
Is Xiaomi Note 2 Prime worth payoing another $50 for?

    • -1

TransFlash worth = $0.5 per GB for extra storage. Then imo, not before XN2P has '128GB itself.

Add an mSD card instead($14*32GB), then 48 GB total.

For those negging, not sure why you would neg a useful comment that would help save people money.

Is Xiaomi Note 2 Prime worth payoing another $50 for?

      • I think because your comment is pretty confusing to read

      • +1

        Fair enough.
I'm pretty dubious about an over clocked and otherwise identical processor, so only considered storage
        adjustment i.e TF card.
Key difference is 16gb so have thought of this as "$50" vs something I'll add in at a few dollars cost to myself. Top model close to identical.

  • Store Rep,

Are you sure about the micro sd card slot?

Does this phone support all carriers in Australia?

    Thanks

    • Yes, we confirmed with the merchant that it does have a micro sd card slot.

      www.willmyphonework.net

If you go to this website you can see if your carrier supports this model

  • OP, any idea when the black version will be available?
