  • Does this have micro sd slot?

    • No

    • +4

      No.

16GB ROM + No SD slot is a deal breaker for me especially at the 500+$ price point.

      • +7

        Plus crappy 4g bands selection

  • +5

I feel like the Oneplus idea was a flagship killer until all these cheap high-spec Chinese droids came about… Now I'm pretty meh about spending $500+ for something like this. Is it just me?

    • +3

OP2 isn't worth the money, they lost the plot.

      • I didn't think they got it with 1+1, lots hype, low stock, making limited money, now 1+2 at this price, it's one of the flagship phone been killed already at launch by some models mentioned here, let alone other Chinese droid

    • -1

Mediatek processor is what kills them all…..

    • +1

I'd definitely go for the ASUS Zenfone 2 4GB RAM + 64GB over this and its about $100 cheaper too and with more 4G bands.

    • The cheap high-spec Chinese droids have been out for years and years now.

      • Us Ozbargainers have only seen it pop up on our screens within the last year. Or maybe I just didn't notice them before..

  • +13

Missing the days of USD parity :(

  • Very expensive in AUD.
Other Chinese brands are cheaper and bettter.

    • Cheaper yes. Better?
You mean slower SOCs and ugly skins with less ROM compatibility?
Not saying this phone is perfect by any means, but unless you want a slow clocked 8 core A53 with less RAM there isnt much cheaper coming out of China…

      • Keep an eye out for the Umi eMax Mini. They still releasing details, but if it doesn't suck, might actually be worth getting….though no idea on price yet.

        • 5" phone so its not really in competition with this.
Also talks about mid range specs, maybe the Snapdragon 615?
Cant wait for the SD 620 to come out, it will really lift the mid range phones into the performance of recent flagships.

      • I was talking about quality.
I had oneplusone. I returned it within 2 weeks and then bought a Meizu M1 note. Still using M1.

  • +2

I bought an LG G3 with similar specs for $400Aus a few months back, highly recommend this device for similar size and nice screen.

  • Seems like a very expensive phone that wouldn't have the warranty, reliability or build quality to last.

  • Has anyone found that 1+2=3, or is it just me?

    • +4

      HL3 confirmed!

      Sorry.

  • OP2 this time is not even close to worth the money, times have changed much since then

yeh why not just call this phone 3 we're not very good with maths.

  • I feel like this phone is amazing if aud wasn't so weak. You guys will be drooling over it at thathe if it was the case. Amazing camera ,smooth fluid performance and finger print scanner.

    • +1

problem is if aud wasnt weak then all the sub $150 chinese phones would still be killing this for bang per buck, its all relative

      • No those phones are no where close to this. I mean oxygen os is pretty solid compared to elephoon or whatever

  • +3

Redmi note 2 is 95% of this phone for half price. Been using for a few days and it is so much faster than my old snapdragon 800.

Oneplus 2 has extra gig of ram and GG3, but RN2 has SD slot and removable battery.

  • Get a samsung S5 from kogan it has beter 4G coverage for the dame money

    • Shame it's a Samsung but and the specs aren't great.

  • Wait for Mi5. It will be around the same price or maybe even cheaper.

    • I considered waiting for mi5 but I get the feeling it either won't have microSD or won't have dual SIM (or both)

      • This doesn't have MicroSD either.

Xiaomi is a chinese phone manufacturer. In China it's pretty standard to have dual sim. I'd say it will.

Xiaomi makes true flagship killers for a good price.

        • Yea sorry wasn't comparing it to this. I was comparing it to Redmi Note 2 which does have microSD.

I think OPO was kind of a flagship killer as well, but I feel the OPT (OnePlus Two) isn't so much and part of the reason is due to the weaker AUD making the price of it not as attractive relative to other flagships. The weak AUD doesn't seem to have affected other flagship prices as much but because the OPT seems to be sold in USD, it has a much more profound effect on our price.

        • @illumination: That's a bit strange, because whoever you're sourcing your flagships from presumably paid for them in USD, thus them being affected by the low AUD just the same as OPT should be? Maybe those flagships are eating up the loss?

All I know is, LG G4s have been seen lately for below $600 AUD (around $550 actually) so if I had a choice between G4 or OP2, I'll take the G4 because it has Microsd and a QHD screen. And it's not so exclusive and hard to get a hold of.

        • +1

          @lostn:

What I meant is, for example if you're after a LG G4, the "benchmark" price (from an Ozbargain pov) is $550 based on recent deals as you've mentioned.

However, the OPT is constantly being converted from USD and as the AUD has been weakening so rapidly, it literally feels like it's getting more expensive by the day.

To give you a specific example, the price of the OPO and OPT in USD doesn't seem to differ much, but it's really because the AUD is so weak that this is now a "bad deal" from an Aus perspective.

And because of this, I absolutely agree that the LG G4 at a price point of $550-600 is more worth it than a OPT.

If the AUD was as it was last year, the OPT would be about $400ish and it would then potentially be a little bit harder to make a decision, but at the current rate it's a no brainer.
