  • We had one like this before:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/17081

Also, if you have MS Office 2003 with MS Office Document Imaging, you can print the pdf to its virtual printer and then click the send to Word button. Not sure if that works better than this.

FYI - my Norton Internet Security 2010 detected suspicious activity at installation and reported the program via SONAR. While Giveawayoftheday may be genuine and claim it is spyware/adware free, I tend to trust Norton this time.

I would personally call this a false-positive. Just downloaded and ran a scan with NOD32 which it passed. http://virusscan.jotti.org (an online scanner with uses the definitions from 20 different anti virus applications) also passed the file as virus free. http://virusscan.jotti.org/en/scanresult/1798639e27854baf99c… to see the results

      • nice scanner site …
it even has at least commercial scanner which i recognised which is Sophos ..
will have to make a note of that site for future reference ;)

    • FYI — Norton is utter garbage!

  • Look I know this is free but lets be realistic - there is a new one everyday and also a free game of the day giveaway of the day. This plus Steam and we have the front page of the day covered with these daily deals. This one stands but no more this week.

Mods will have to discuss how we handle these types of bargains

    • True .. and i agree a lot of the times. That means all the deals from sites like CoTD, DailyGizzmo, one day sale etc. etc. etc. shouldn't be posted either ….. (?)

Thats what dealdump is for i suppose … but then again OzBargains did point me to some good deals which I would have missed as I don't look at dealdump as religiously.

    • just add them to the wiki, and make it a bit more prominent?…
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/list_of_one_deal_a_day_site…

  • what is the registration code?
mine says it only does 50% of the document, then said only 9 conversions left

    • reg code is in the readme.txt file in the .zip file you downloaded
you need to "activate" it, then put in the reg code that is in the readme.

  • How about - just as everyone should know that most of the things listed on here (I'm thinking more the hardware) you can most likely get on ebay cheaper if you're willing to wait - so then - only list from sites like Giveawayoftheday if it is something extra good (i.e. unusual), or not usually available free.

Maybe ban reps from such sites from posting as they are not best placed to make that judgement.

I'm pretty sure Open Office (www.openoffice.org) has the same functionality, and more. And is ALWAYS free.

Really, it can open PDFs and save them as Word, Excel etc?

      • The OpenOffice Wiki currently states that it can't.

"Unfortunately, OpenOffice.org is not able to import PDF documents back again, although this is one of the more often requested features."

        • sorry, my bad. I really thought I had used it to do that before though. I'll check when I get home (where I have OOo installed).

  • I would love to get this but the webpage now states "This giveaway is not available any more." :{

      How about this:

      http://www.pdftoexcelonline.com/

Its free and there's no app to install (upload your file and they email the result to you). I used it recently with some good results. There's also a page for PDF to Word etc.

    • There's never any shortage of free software tools on CNET, and there's 225 free ones that come up just by searching pdf converter.

  • thanks, just what I have always wanted.
