Travel Sims Clearance Sale for Japan & New Zealand Starting from $19 ($1.95 Postage) @TSD

800
OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT OF ALL SIMS AT 23:49 3/9/15. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS, HOPE TO STILL BE AROUND AND ON HERE AGAIN SOON. IF WE DON'T, WE LOVE YOU GUYS! KEEP ROCKING!

Hi all,
It is with a heavy heart and some sadness that we have to say that our business has faced a lot of diversity recently: the Australian dollar has ruined most of our great price strategy we came with and our biggest seller (USA Travel SIMS) is currently going through a current landscape change with their SIM cards that again confronts us with some very hard decisions!

Our focus is still to take care of all our customers! It is in this spirit that we are doing what very well may be a one and final clearance sale on our prefunded cards that have incredibly high reliance and need no activations ect. These are going at a steal and dare we say it these prices will never been seen again! Only while stocks last.

We will do our best to survive this tough time but if we don't, OzBargain it has been a pleasure. TSD signing out!

Hey. I'm looking for a data SIM for Japan, but I arrive on 18 November :(. Any chance of a Docomo 14 day for this start date? Anything else you can recommend/sell me?!

    • I bought one for $44 last time
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/204643

This is the cheapest offer yet.

I am traveling in October, (feel dooooped for being proactive)

"To celebrate our brand spanking new site we are selling our pretty popular DoCoMo Japan 14 Day Unlimited Data SIM Card for the lowest price yet! $45.95 including shipping!"

I suggest you purchase in October (TravelSimDirect seems to be posting their offers here monthly)

    • Same here! I arrive Nov 17th… See what TSD says.

      • +1

Hi guys, Ok this is going to likely be a tad confusing but here goes. The 14 day cards expire completely on the 30th of November i.e. even if you first use it on say the 28th you will only get 2 days of data.
So if you guys landed and first used on the 18th, you will not get 14 days of data, only until the 30th of November.
For simplicity we changed the date early so everyone is covered. Up to you guys if you want a card with less days.

        • How much are the SoftBank 7 days?

        • @Sweet3st: $19

        • @TravelSIMSDirect: thanks, bought the Docomo 14 day. Will wing it with free wifi for final 2 days of trip.

        • What abt the docomo 7 day cards? I'll be in Japan for about a week but won't arrive until Nov 20.

  • +5

Will be sad to see you go if you do…..my recent trip to the US went without a hitch thanks to your awesome service!

    • +5

Thanks for the kind words, means a lot!

      • Hope you keep going, I've just recommended a friend buy 4x USA sims from you for their trip in June next year :)

Maybe you can offer an alert for out of stock sims and let people know when there's sims back in stock that are to be activated by their travel date?

  • Perfect timing! Ordered one, arriving in Tokyo on the 1st November.

  • +3

I have used your sims 3 times in the US and recommended you to friends and family. Never had an issue all the best hopefully things pick up!

  • Positive vote for the deal itself, but sad to hear you might go. Brilliant service and I really do hope I can order from you again in the future :)

    • +2

Thank you, we will do our best to come back better and stronger. Where there is a will, there is a way!

  • Hi Rep, I bought 2 SIM's for my US trip last month and worked great. I am heading to NZ in Jan 2016, would this SIM card still work next year?

    • +1

Yes no expiry on the NZ ones mate!

      • awesome, locked one in.

  • +1

Thanks! I hope you brave this out. Bought one for my first trip to Japan!

  • +1

I'm in Japan for 21 days and want to use a 7 day sim and 14 day sim sequentially. When filling out the form it asks for country arrival date, I just want to clarify that if I put in the same country arrival date for both and I don't touch my second sim until the first one has expired I will get the full 21 days?

The checkout menu sets the country arrival date to activation date and I cannot find on your website what the term activation date actually means.

    • +1

It just means when you will be arriving into the destination country mate! Sorry if it confused. Yes thats correct, don't insert your 7 day SIM till after the first expires and you will get the full 21 days.

  • Any more deals on Thai sim cards Rep?

    • If we can stay afloat for a little while longer a similar deal wouldn't be a surprise mate.

  • any deal on the US sim?

    • Not now and likely not for a while, sorry!

  • Yeah rep what happened to Us sim cards? I need to get one for next week! :(
    Dont mind paying

    • +1

Most carriers are changing the way they sell, activate and make available prepaid USA sims. They are pushing for a system that only supports USA physical retailers being able to sell i.e. if an Aussie wants one ideally they will make you go in store when there and pay full RRP mark ups. We will do our best to stop this but it is out of our hands mostly.

  • purchased two for my trip to japan. awesome thanks!

  • +1

Thank you! Bought two for our trip to Japan in October and a Thai one for the stopover on the way back. Happy to support your business and hope it works out for you.

  • Thanks bought 2 for the Christmas NZ trip!

  • +1

Happy to support your business where possible.. I'm also going to New Zealand potentially later this year.

So what happens to my USA sims that I purchased earlier this year, to be activated in January , do you think you will still be around to support at time of activation ?

    Thank you

    • +1

Hi, we will 100% without a doubt be around to support anyone! Even if the site completely comes down we will still reply to emails and be on OzB regularly. Hope no one feels shy to drop us a line!

  • Hi Rep, my gf is heading to Korea this month for 2 weeks, got anything she can use?

    • Nothing for Korea at this stage sorry mate!

  • +1

Just adding my support for TSD - great customer service, unbeatable prices and the convenience of not having to mess around once you land at your destination. Unless messing around is the goal of your travels, in which case a fully loaded sim card could be handy indeed!

  • Bought two cards for my 21-day trip to Japan in Oct. Thanks!

  • +1

Sorry to to hear about the tough times guys, I used your sims for a recent trip to Japan and everything worked great, wouldn't hesitate to use again!
    Good luck

  • +1

Sorry to hear, just bought Jap 14 days, going in mid October.
AUD depreciated almost 10% in the last two months against JPY which is not doing anyone any good!

  • I leave for Japan on Tuesday, any chance it can be posted tomorrow so it will arrive in Sydney by Monday?

  • Damn.. I am travelling to Tokyo on the 11th of Jan next year and doesnt look like I can get any of these deals.. :( Oh well

  • Damn lol I leave on the 25th

  • +1

got one NZ, save me going there to find one. thanks OP, all the best! AUD may back in another time

  • +1

    Good luck TSD!

  • A mate and I are going from December 1st for 23 days, would it be worth buying a bunch of 7 day sims? Or would we be better off getting ones more suited to the length of the holiday.

    • Really depends where you get them and how much data you plan on using really in that sort of case.

  • Heading over to New Zealand sometime early next year, do I need to have exact date or can I just activate the sim once l arrive in Nz?

    • You can just activate the NZ card once there! :)

  • Can vouch for these guys, currently using Docomo SIM (7 days) from them in Tokyo, with flawless LTE.

    Oh, and they shipped quickly.
Bought for ~$32 and very happy!

    • +1

Glad you are happy and hope you're having a blast!

  • +1

Oh no! Feel sorry for you guys. Hope it works out TSD!

  • Sorry to see you guys go…

I bought some US sim cards last month for travel in a couple of weeks time.
    Will these still work?

    Thank you.

    • +1

Should be good to go mate but in the unforeseen case it isn't we are preparing contingencies to make sure everyone is taken care of BUT everything is still working fine with sold sims, it's sourcing them at good prices for Aussies that's the biggest concern atm.
      Thanks for the support!

      • Thank you for your prompt reply…
Hopefully there will be no problem…

  • +1

Yay you covered my travel period! Thanks TSD. Best of luck with the rough times ahead, I'm sure you guys will come through fine

  • I'm going for 17 days in October, best to buy 2 x 7 day cards, i take it you can use multiple cards on your iphone once youve used one?

    • +1

Yes! Just be sure to not use or insert your second card until the first one has expired otherwise they will both start at the same time!

  • Has the 7 day Docomo one sold out? I can't seem to buy one.

    • Unfortunately it has, sorry!

  • What is the difference in the Docomo and Softbank? Does Softbank still have reasonable coverage? And what is the chance for a Docomo sim activated for 14 days from 4 ?

    • Very similar reception and speeds, just the amount of data is very different. What do you mean by activated for 14 days from 4?

  • I'll be in Japan from the 28/09 - 07/10. This looks like a fantastic deal.
However, at my work I have come across people from around the world who have purchased a "preactivated" sim card for their travels to Australia only to find out that when they get here the SIM doesn't work and they need to contact the carrier's customer service.
IF this were the case, are you the ones to contact them for me seeing as you activated the sim and since I don't speak Japanese?

    • Yes we would be point of contact. One of the advantages of us has been English speaking, fast responding and incredibly high success rate with sims working with Aussie phones.

  • Hello! I will be traveling to Japan from 23rd November to 28th. Does that mean the Docomo unlimited 7 days will still work for me ? Thanks in advance! Otherwise I'll get the SoftBank

    • At the time all DoCoMo is sold out so Softbank is your only chance (though that is close to sold out now too!)

  • Hi rep, I bought a 14 days one but I incorrectly put my activation date by one day. Is it possible to change it? I've also dropped you an email last night but yet to get a response.

    • Not a problem mate, the email guy has been flooded hard, whats your order number and is it a day forward or back? I'll take care for you :)

      • If i am to activate my sim card 5 days after I put as my arrival date, will i still get the full 7 days from when i activate it?

        • Yes, 7 days will start from first use!

      • My order number is 2984. Activation date should be 27/10 not 28/10. Thank you guys.

  • Nice deal. Grab one for my NZ trip coming Nov/Dec. Best of luck in the future.

  • Damn I don't know how I missed this last night. already ozb'd

Hope the softbank ones are ok

  • are the japanese ones all sold out? they are both full price.

    • Yes, sorry. All Japan stock is officially gone!

  • All the best, Hope you weather the storm!

  • sorry to hear mate.. got the US sim card a few months ago; it was perfect! I just grabbed a NZ one as well! Hopefully everything works out well for you guys.

    • Thank you for the kind words, means a lot! :)

      • really appreciated the service as well. I emailed you just before our plane took off from the US to Canada to check whether the US sim would work there and you guys had already responded by the time I landed in Canada!
Once again, i wish you all the best!

  • +9

Hi guys, instead of flooding the comments section with an individual reply to all the supportive comments I thought I would just say a massive thank you to everyone. It is a very stressful period but the kind words mean sooo much, you guys rock!
Have been a part of OzBargain for a long time. I remember deals like free custom calendars from Harvey Norman, insane video game deals when 'Game' was taking on EB Games at one stage, those infamous boxing day listings so we all know exactly where to go at dawn on the 27th of December and when my daughter was born OzB helped me find the best for her with what was a limited budget.
This place has given so much, and it's all thanks to the great community. I hope we have given a little back. The support and response for us in this hard time epitomizes what OzB is really about. This place is one of the best online communities around.
Thank you all so very much!

    • Thank you for the service. I'm the worry partner in the family. Having an active sim card while in Japan gives me a peace of mind.

  • ordered mine today with standard shipping. sydney inner westish.

fly out 15th morning - should i have chosen express?

    • Should be alright mate!

      • sweet cheers.

hope things work out for you guys since ill need this next yr for the US and NZ!

edit, maybe not US if we end up at 58 cents :(

        • Either way we will be around to keep supporting customers who bought previously :)

  • I snoozed .. so I lost. I wanted 2 Japan Sims :(

  • Just got one for my NZ trip. Thanks and hope things turn out ok for your business.

  • Have you got any sim that will work in China?
    Hongkong, Macau, Mainland China?
Would love to buy one from you

    • No sorry!

  • Thank you very much. Bought 2 for december new zealand trip!!!! Now, worry free. Great price

  • Thanks, bought 2 for NZ trip end of the year.

  • missed out too for japan. considering pocket wifi option now. best of luck!!

  • Haven't used these guys before but seems like they run a very good show. Just about to hit purchase on 4 or 5 Thailand sims for our trip with family and friends later this month. Hope everything goes well for you guys and the business can stay afloat.

  • Dissapointingly, given the excellent feedback from other users, I have been sent a different product than ordered.

I ordered the 14 day Docomo sim in micro size. They have sent me the nano size with some dodgy adapters. These ones to be precise: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/155307

There seems to be many warnings to stay away from sim adapters, because they can catch and damage the fragile sim pins inside the phone. Both here in previous deals and on other forums there are plenty of posts by people that have written-off their smartphone using these.

Fair enough, they ran out of micro size. But I don't want to risk it, so will seek an exchange or refund.

    • Great service provided by these guys. Had a response to my refund request within a few minutes.

No problem. I will post back to them for a refund.

      Positive experience!

      Thanks.

  • I on the other hand, have yet to receive sim for Nz, or any response from my email.

    • Hey mate, sorry to hear that. We have been responding to emails, not sure what has happened. Can you inbox us here with your order number and I will send out a replacement ASAP/
      Thanks!

  • Order number #3052.thanks

    • Great! Thanks. Replacement will be sent over this weekend :)
