All stores have cheaper BBQ Chicken at times, however, most times it is because the chicken is slightly overcooked and they just want to get rid of it.

As far as i know Coles usually discount their BBQ chicken prior to closing on a daily basis. Or thats what I have been told at least.

  • In the past, my local safeway used to sell bbq chicken for half price around 8pm if there was any left (usually there were).

  • Walk in to any Coles/Woolworths/Foodland under an hour before closing time, and their BBQ chickens will be on special.

    Only 1 chicken ???

I'm sure someone would have bought it by now…

  • Yeah closing time at Woollies or Coles is famous for reduced BBQ chickens. One 'bargain' that they do have all the time though, if you don't mind 'poor man's bread' (though it's still bread all the same really), are their $1.09 factory loaves from the bread asile rather than the bakery. I think Coles also has english muffins 6pk for $1.70.

  • My local woolies puts their extra large chickens at half price if they have been in the carousel thingy for more than a few hours. So you could walk in at any time from about midday onwards and get a $5.50 extra large chook, if demand hasn't been high for the day.

  • How much is a Regular BBQ Chicken normally at Coles or Woolworths?

  • small approx $7.99
    Regular approx $9.99
    large approx $12.99

Im guessing it would vary state to state slightly maybe?

  • I work at Coles, and I'm pretty sure they discount their BBQ chickens very heavily about an hour or so before closing time.

I usually come at about 10:30-11:00 on weekdays. I've picked up a large BBQ chicken (usually about $12) for $2 before. There aren't always ones there but if you are near a Coles, it's probably worth checking out a few times.

  • I know Safeway discount their BBQ chickens if they've been sitting there for about 3hours.

If you want a freshly cooked chicken it's best to go around dinner time 4pm-7pm. As that is when they will cook more chickens to cater for people who cbf cooking.

And it is also true that they will discount chickens at night on a daily basis before the store closes or they will just dump them.

  • Having just compared the BBQ chicken from Coles and Woolworths, I prefer Woolworths'. It's so moist whereas the one I got from Coles was dry :-(

  • When i worked at coles, we just took them home at closing time for $1 :)
