Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus are out, so expect these to drop in price very very soon

Note 5 (grey stock) can be ordered for around 1k and AU stock for 1.1k

Im guessing Mobi citi is trying to clear there existing stock before the price drops to sub $700

    • Hi easternculture

S6 Edge plus is bigger screen and RRP price for 64GB will $1299 (http://www.samsung.com/au/galaxy-s6/)

      • +15

But the release of these 2 new phones nearly always mean that samsung will drop the RRP of older models to market the newer ones.

I predict that the S6 will drop sub $700 in ~ 1 months time

S6 Edge plus is bigger screen and RRP price for 64GB will $1299

Well the S6 128GB is selling @ Samsung for RRP $1148 and your selling it for $848. SO RRP doesnt mean a thing

        • +2

Don't know who was negging you but you provide a very valid point. People don't pay RRP for mobile phones anymore except Apple devices. Would be good to see the s6 plummet further especially with the immenent release of the 6s.

          @ShamelessBargains:

Don't know who was negging you but you provide a very valid point

Because for some people, reality sucks :)

        • -1

@easternculture: Too true, even if I don't agree with someone, I would rather tell them my point of view rather than hiding behind a negative vote. I have my suspicions on two people it could have been…

        • Can't agree more!

          6s?

          Which device is this?

        • +1

@nismo: Next iPhone will probably be called the 6s. Apple plays it pretty safe with it's naming of devices.

There should be a high demand for new iPhones at the end of the year and to combat this Samsung will cut prices further to stimulate their own demand.

        • @ShamelessBargains:

Gotcha, that's what I thought you were referring to but since the discussion was mainly around Samsung, I had to check :)

Samsung Galaxy S6 S is almost a tongue twister!

        • +2

@nismo: Way too many S's. I sounded like a snake hissing try to say it haha!

  • okay @tightarse, give daddy (metaphorically - not for father's day) a new phone.

PS I'm not looking for a the S6…something a little bit more reasonably priced (no comment on the deal just the price of the phone)

  • +5

Been a lot cheaper in the past. Genuine Australian stock too. I don't understand why MobileCiti don't post these deals? They have been very mediocre lately and they are probably hoping TA's exceptional credibility on Ozbargain alone will get it to front page.

    • To be fair that's with 20% off.

I wonder if those kogan oz stock ones came with a tax invoice though. Nobody confirmed in the thread unfortunately.

      • Still it's a good indication of where the prices are heading. Samsung has been reporting poor sales of the s6 so they should be dropping further in price soon. I reckon the 128gb model will down to $700 by Christmas at this rate.

        • ha, beaten by CVonC.

but you can't say a ebay discount on store prices is where the prices are heading.

what happened to all the webber bbqs that was 50% off? I wanted one and missed out. Those prices are pretty much never going to be repeated. (fingers X'd, hope I'm wrong).

        • -1

@nerd1: eBay discounts are not all covered by eBay and the store accepts some of the costs. Regardless $850 isn't a great price for this device, it probably should have been the RRP…

        • @ShamelessBargains:
          kinda missing the point…

        • -3

@nerd1: I don't think you get the point either. This device is heavily overpriced and the Kogan eBay sale reflects this. Even with that discount, they didn't sell many further highlighting how unpopular Samsung phones are probably because it's hard to distinguish amongst android and the designs are pretty similar.

        • i got my Samsung S5 for $420 at one of the Kogan / eBay sales, so it's not that Samsung phones are unpopular, people just don't like paying above a baseline price unless they are desperate one a floor price has been established.

    • +1

not really the same, kogan's price is more than $950. The deal was ebay offered blanked 20% off for participating stores. so this deal if it was part of that becomes $680. Granted you could've bought it at a better price then but it wasn't a straight forward offer from 1 retailer.

      • -1

I highly doubt MobileCiti would price it at $848 on their eBay store. There's a lot more profit to be made for them from consumers buying direct from their own online store as opposed to their eBay store. Even though they could prove me wrong?

        • kinda missing the point … but never mind.

        • -2

@nerd1: yeah I don't think you understood either yet you upvoted the deal?

  • Same price as your old deal… Where's our additional Ozbargain saving MobileCiti?

    • +1

Doubt any more savings will be offered

As i pointed out earlier, rep is most likely trying to clear out existing stock before prices plummet further and rep would be forced to sell at a loss

      • -1

That's when the Ozbargainers strike! Rep is clearly trying to hide the fact that every product in this sale has been or is about to be preceded by a newer model. Maybe $250 for a moto x, $350 for a nexus 6 and $450 for the s6 and then we will be happy. I know I'm dreaming but these phones are still going to be powerhouses in years to come due to the declining increase in processor power, amount of ram and software in today's phones. Like people aren't even getting hysterical about the next iPhone yet, this market has really reached its climax.

        • yeah, my old Samsung S5 has full 4 G band coverage, 1080p screen, so for me to upgrade what does a newer phone have and how much does it cost. doesn't seem to be a market where a manufacturer has a "disruptive" product in either price or functionality.

So glad I sold my GS6e when I did!

  • Any sugar daddies here getting a new phone present?

    • Sugar daddies would probably buy iPhones. Main benefit of iphone for some is, "look I spent $1000 on this phone and just use it for texting and Facebook"

      • Heh, I am sure you are correct in at least some cases.

Meanwhile I have an S6 which is essentially "defashionized" by spending the vast majority of it's time inside a plain black Otterbox Commuter case, and the rest of its time attached to a Gear VR headset where it's specifications are basically in babyland with respect to what is needed in order to really make this VR thing fly off the rails into properly incredible awesomeness.

        • I thought the Gear VR was optimised for the s6?

        • @ShamelessBargains:

There is an S6-specific version of the Gear VR so I guess you could say that they are optimized for each other. But what I'm getting at is the fact that as high-end as the S6 is in terms of its hardware specifications, it is still essentially decidedly low-end in the context of emerging VR tech. All phones are.

The next few years are going to be incredibly interesting though.

    • What do you expect from OZbargain sugar daddies? LOL.

      • A Nokia 3310.

    @tightarse:

Can you give us an example of the sort of conversation(s) that it is necessary to have with retailers in order to get them to sign-off on creating coupon codes such as "DADSARSE"?

    Heh.

  • Hurry up September 9. These phones are all due for more price drops with new iPhone coming out.

  • Never pay full price for a Samsung phone, soon as you walk out the door it has dropped $200, and with in 3 months $400, 6 months worth 1/2, and 1 year give away.

Vodafone have a catalogue out now with Moto X Play for $528 and Moto X Style for $792 outright. Rumour is that phones will be in store on 14-Sep.

I would expect the Moto X (2nd Gen) to drop in price further with the general availability of the new phones.

    • +10

      Hi mathew42

For this deal I am happy to offer 30 days price protection for moto x 2nd gen if price drop below this price or someone selling cheaper for same stock, to claim the price different just simply contact our customer service([email protected]). (ref to this comment)

      • +1

Any deal on Moto X Style (AU stock)?

        • Sorry We don't have Moto X Style in stock.

      • good on ya for offering price protection.

+1 for the deal because of this.

  • Read this as "DatArse" haha

  • Can store rep confirm if Moto X 2014 White comes with a bamboo back like JB's?
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/phones/Outright-Mobile-Handsets/mo…
Or whether the black comes with a leather black back?

    • +1

Yes white come with a bamboo back same as JB's, update image on our website too.

Black is dark plastic (not leather)

  • Damn it. Just got the Nexus 6 for $575 last week.

Extremely fast delivery and Excellent phone

      • +5

        Thanks TA.

I felt bad asking though, I got the phone in real quick time and been very happy with the experience and the phone. Mobileciti has also been good to the Ozbargain community so I won't ask anymore from them :)

        • +1

Definitely an amateur…..hey, mobileciti can you please refund the difference of his/her order, as price protection, to me? Thanks. :)

    • +2

Damn it. Just got the Nexus 6 for $575 last week.

Another reason why we shouldn't be rushing and buying phones this month.

Wait a month for the Note 5 to saturate the market and the new iPhone to be released and we will probably see the Nexus 6 for sub $500 and S6 for sub $700

      • Good advice. I'm waiting for the Moto X Play and Nexus 5X/6X before deciding on which one of those or a Nexus 6.

The danger is that the current phones will be sold out by then.

        • Highly unlikely, should be plenty of stock available everywhere

        • @easternculture:

Never seen plenty of stock of Nexus before, maybe 2-3 months after release

        • @aldoduco:
He means plenty of stock of current models, not upcoming Nexuses.

          $450 and I'll bite.

  • Please be aware that some of the mobile only have 12 months warranty.

  • Plus without reading deal just because of code.

  • +1

Good on Mobilecity who are able to offer local product at cheaper price than Kogan. And to Tightarse.
