    • Seagate purchased the Samsung HDD brand some time ago AFAIK

  • Anyone know if this drive is fine to be removed for use inside a laptop/PC ?

Why don't you have a look at that YouTube ^^^

In the time it took you to type that, you could have said yes it works or no it doesn't. Maybe he doesn't have enough mobile data to stream the YouTube link you provided.

In simpler terms: yes it will work. And don't throw away any of the components as they are useful

        • In the time it took you to type all that why didn't you just read the next comment and see he found his answer.

@King Tightarse: wasn't there when I typed it. But never mind… He's found the answer. Let's move on

There is almost no difference between these drives. This is the usual marketing tactic that all companies use to make people pay a premium for usually irrelevant features. However, there are some small differences, which I shall list. Whichever one you choose should serve your purposes.

Form factor - Expansion drives are bulkier. Backup Plus drives are slimmer and more portable. Both come in both 3.5 and 2.5 inch models.
Software - The Backup plus line has its own Backup Software, providing automatic backups, scheduled backups etc. Whether this software is better than any of the many other similar utilities, I cannot say.
Warranty - The Backup Plus has a 3 year warranty, while the Expansion drives have a 2 year warranty. This may vary depending on where you buy it.
Price - The Backup plus is generally more expensive than an Expansion drive with the same capacity. This depends on the dealer, of course.
Marketing - The Backup plus is marketed as a safe place to store important files. The Expansion is marketed as an easy way to add storage for frequently used data to your machine.
