$200 of Orders for as Low as $45 Shipped @ COTD (Club Catch Membership Required)

910

I thought this was good enough to deserve a separate post.

  1. Sign up to COTD using a referral link (which will give you $10 credit). Sign up to the free trial of the Club Catch membership (and be sure to untick the auto-renew).

  2. Make your first order worth $50 through the iOS/Android app. You get 50% off for the sale in the link, $5 off for your first purchase on the app, and free postage for orders >= $50. This will come to a total of $20 delivered and should get your account credited with the $10 for the referral. On your order confirmation, you will get a message saying you get $20 off on your next order for visa checkout. Which brings us to…

  3. Make another $50 order, with the 50% off, free shipping and $20 off for visa checkout (you don't need a visa card for visa checkout either, it lets you use all the major credit card types), this will come to $5. On your order confirmation, you will get a message saying you get $10 off on your next order for visa checkout. Which brings us to…

  4. Make another $50 order, with the 50% off, free shipping and $10 off for visa checkout, this will come to $15. On your order confirmation, you will get another message saying you get $10 off on your next order for visa checkout. Which brings us to…

  5. Repeat (4). But sadly, the fun ends there.

However, you should have made 4x $50 orders costing $20, $5, $15 and $15 each delivered. With the $10 referral credit, this should come to $45 all up if my math is any good (However I fear the referral credit might auto-deduct off the $5 order, which would mean it would cost $50 all up, but that's still great).

I don't think I can add the referral link to the bottom of this post because I haven't been a member long enough, but if someone else could do that it would be great.

Edit: Sorry I didn't make that clear, you can use whatever payment method for the first order, on the order confirmation for that first order a message will pop up saying you will get a discount on your next order if you use visa checkout on that next order

but then this would be a dupe.

  • What is the criteria for $20/$10 discount via Visa Checkout because I'm not getting any discount if I choose that payment option.

    • Sorry I didn't make that clear, you can use whatever payment method for the first order, on the order confirmation for that first order a message will pop up saying you will get a discount on your next order if you use visa checkout on that next order

    • Warning: Highly venomous..

  • I dont have the option for visa checkout in android app?

    • Sorry I didn't make that clear, you can use whatever payment method for the first order, on the order confirmation for that first order a message will pop up saying you will get a discount on your next order if you use visa checkout on that next order

      • +1

You can only use the Visa Checkout credit via web as per T&C

  • -1

You can also make an order, get the $20 visa checkout thing and then cancel the order. Make another order and get the $20 off it.

Doesn't that mean they hold your money on for that dummy $50 order for 3-5 business days?

Edit: This does work and instant cancellation. However funds are held under Outstanding Authorisations.
Also only got $10 twice (and used twice)
Cancellation also resets the per customer limit, very useful when using this for free postage

Looks like not everyone is getting $20 off offer over $50 spend :(

      • Also cancelled my first order after confirming getting the 2nd $10 off (to be applied on 3rd order). Made my last order the same as 1st.

        Ended up with 2x WD N900's (for the 2x 2.5" 1TB HDDs) for $15 each. :D
Gonna grab some cheap USB3 SATA enclosures to put them in for some cheap storage.

  • I didn't get any voucher using visa checkout. Only after the checkout was 10bucks voucher to be used within seven days
Btw mine is an old account

    • Sorry I didn't make that clear, you can use whatever payment method for the first order, on the order confirmation for that first order a message will pop up saying you will get a discount on your next order if you use visa checkout on that next order

…… anybody bought the cat mask?

  • so the best way to take advantage of this is to have at most $50 in your cart each time?

    • Definitely :) Once you add around $300 worth to your cart ($75 each transaction) the total savings drop to about 66% off. $300 worth for $100 is still great value though :)

      • +11

problem is i can't find 4x$50 worth of shit to buy lol

  • when did the visa offer pops up? after payment?

    • yes , not sure it's for first purchase or for new account . but my account doesn't give me that email offer :( end up opening new account to get those offer

      • edit

  • I cant seem to get any visa checkout credit in step No.2; even after creating new account I don't see how to get the checkout to be $20??
can of or anyone kindly elaborate how to get the first checkout to be $20 as mine came out like $47 even with the android App$5 bonus!

    • +1

The discounts don't apply until you reach the checkout. After the first purchase check your email for a confirmation that includes the $20 Visa discount.

    • +1

Your first purchase should be $20 if you apply the $5 signup ($50-50%=$25 , $25-$5=$20). Just make sure your selecting items from the "50% off in cart page".

  • What if there is nothing you want to buy in the Club Catch 50% off section? How to use on items you actually want?

    • Or the thing you actually want has a purchase limit of 1.

  • So any bargain?

    • -1

Nope, just junk, but another mans treasure for sure.

      • Depending on which way you swing, treasure is another man's junk…

        • Lol +1

  • OP can give/send referral link?

Up the top mate (under the description) :)

    • I added it to the post, thanks

  • So as long I create new account and follow the instruction it will works?
Actually first step is to find $200-ish stuffs.

    repeat1,2,3 again?

If you cancel the order to get the credit, I'm afraid that they will trace down the history and cancel all your orders :(
I wouldn't say they all junk. Just don't need any of them atm…

    • Nvm

      • It's a pity they don't put lots of children books for this event :-(
just wondering if anyone will renew the club catch (I'm assuming it's expiring very soon?)

    AMAZING DEAL!!!

Razer Taipan Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse, 8200 dpi 4G dual $49.95
    milka chocolate $4

gets me over the $50 free shipping

msy sells the mouse for $55 and it's a decent gaming mouse too :)

the $10 referral will auto deduct from 2nd purchase so it will be

    $20, $0, $15 , $15 = $50+

it won't be exactly $50 since you have to get over $50 for free shipping but close enough!!!

also you can stop at second purchase meaning $100 worth of items for $20!!!

    • Oh referral $10.. Op didn't include on his calculation

      • +2

        Nope first order is $20 ish read the description $50 x 1/2 = $25 - $5 app credit = $20 with free shipping

        second on is free because it is $50 x 1/2 = $25 - $20 visa checkout credit = $5 - $10 automatic referral credit = $0

        :)

I've done this already so it's 100% confirmed!

        • yeah got it. in this case better stop at second purchase, ie $100 worth for $20 and rinse and repeat.
if you need to buy $200 now you can get them for $40, less than OP ($45). and the referal etc etc are instant, right? i can just follow the steps right away?

  • I don't get the free postage unless the order after discount is more than $50

    • not for me

I've gone through 4 orders already :D and followed what op wrote :)

      • +1

Maybe because I used my existing COTD login to signup for the Club Catch Membership.

      • Actually even after discount more than $50, it still didn't give me free postage eventhough the Club Catch term says free postage for >$50. I need to contact COTD on this.

        • Happened to me as well. You have to fill in your address manually in your profile before hit checkout.
Once you do this, go back to your cart. It should now calculate things correctly.

  • Is there really $200 worth of stuff worth buying?

  • -6

Does manipulating a system constitute a bargain within the ozbargain guidelines? I thought ozbargain was for identifying a good price on a particular item or items or service.

    • +2

Yeah, I reckon the more people that do this shit, the less likely COTD will do decent promos in the future.

    • +1

Visa checkout pay the promotion, not cotd.

Does Anyone want to sell me WD router or does not need one? Its out of stock on the website. I was looking for N900 router similar to the Netgear WNDR4500.

    • +1

I can sell you one with no hard drive for $30?

  • I got only $10 from my first time visa checkout and another $10 from the second time.

    • Same, as a result I have no interest in spending more money there.

  • Free post for order >= $50 must be from club catch items, items from clearance not included. Please correct me if wrong.

    • i thought its for any order above $50..thats been my experience

      • No you're right, I was wrong.

      • It's any order with Pre-discount $50.

  • Decent deal, ended up with a sandwich maker for $21, logitech marathon mouse for $15, and some miscellaneous filler items (to reach the $50 shipping amount).

    • +1

So you spent an extra $14 to save $10?

      • Nope, i wasn't clear - i meant to say that the the miscellaneous items were effectively free and i spent $36 in total.

made 2 orders as per ops instructions. Mouse and sandwich maker were $40 each before discount.

So i spent ~$5.50 (~$11 before discount) on filler items to save the $10 shipping fee for both orders.

  • +3

    What a bargain! Thanks OP
    Bought:
Hush Puppies Men’s Locksmith Oxford Shoe - Navy Multi $60
Vision Men's Suede Hi Top Shoes - Charcoal $50

    Total damage: $25

not getting the $20 visa payment voucher. oh well. got $10 credit for "my friend's" sign up plus another $10 from someone using mine in the random referrals.

    • If you used the app , $20 discount applies automatically on your next order via Web.

If you use used Web, $10 discount is given on next order via Web

      • Didn't know that. Thanks :)

      • +1

My first order was Web and got the $20 visa checkout voucher, back on 1st Sept.

  • +2

    Ended up with 3tb for $15, $10 and $10

    Tine to upgrade my nas

    • how did you manage to do that?

      • +1

the WD wifi router has a 2.5" 1TB HDD in it

IM going to salvage those and sell the router itself on ebay. Going price seems ~ $30 - $40 on ebay

        • Wow really? Gonna sell the 2 of mine too!

On a side note: The HDDs are WD Blue right?

        • @grab_ur_freebies:

the 2tb wd version has a green in it, so not sure

        • @easternculture: So you did some research, you were quite tentative to buy it initially :P

          I have one, its a 2.5" 1TB WD Scorpio Blue 5400RPM 8MB Sata 3Gb/s Drive (Manuf Date May 2012) Model : WD10JPVT
Most importantly its a 9mm standard drive and will fit laptops/notebooks and also a PS4

        • @regenade:

Did my research and then realised it was the cheapest way to upgrade my nas hard drives Lol

        • @easternculture: Ya initially you were thinking to stay away as they might be 12.5mm drives, they are one of the best 1TB 2.5" 9mm drives. I have one from an Old Passport same model HDD WD10JPVT inside, and they are doing great even after 4 years :)

        • @regenade:
Any speed benchmarks on this particular model?

  • Thanks OP, works as described. I got up to step 3 before running out of things worth buying. But $10 visa checkout for each step lasts 7 days so could come in useful later.

And yes you are right - the $10 referral voucher gets automatically taken off in step 2 ($5 step). I just added another $10 item ($5 in cart) to cart and paid nothing. So i think you could even say $210 of orders for as low as $45 :)

  • I've signed up to the club catch, but I'm not getting free shipping in checkout! My chosen item is 'almost gone' so I dont want to pay this extra $10 when I've actually signed up to Club Catch…

    What's going on? :(

    • +1

Order must be $50+ pre-discount for free shipping to activate.
      I.e. $49.95 pre-discount taipan mouse
      Won't work by itself
However add this in cart $2 torch
      And it will

      • Yep, im with you there. I did that. I actually picked that mouse + $5 lip balm, and order was over $50 pre-order.
Yet when I go to checkout, I have the discounts applied, but still have $9.99 shipping to Melbourne address.

        :/

        • +1

The $9.99 will still apply, but the discount after actually compensates it.
I.e. if you order the mouse by it self it will look like this

          SubTotal $49.99 [BF4 version]
          Standard Postage $9.99
          Discount -$24.99
          Total $34.99

However if you add something to push it over the $50 pre-discount amount in cart, the discount shows in the Discount.
          Adding this to the cart
          SubTotal $54.08
          Standard Postage $9.99
          Discount(inc. Club Catch) -$34.98
          Total $29.09

Postage doesn't disappear, it gets compensated in the Discount.

        • @cwongtech: ahhh Yes I finally worked out that it was included… Also, one of the additional $6 dollar items I ended up adding wasn't 50% off, so that was confusing me.. Finally worked it out and now im a Club catch member!

  • +1

Thanks OP, ran out of stuff to get at step 3 but great find.
Is there a way to cancel the club catch membership now or is unchecking the 'auto renew box' sufficient?

  • +4

Phew, it's over. Didn't have to spend money on discount junk

    • hehe I guess im feeling the same way. I made one purchase… for stuff I didnt really need… was about to make another!

  • How and why did it expire? It wasn't made clear in the OP whether this was a limited time or limited amount of offers (so I assumed I could wait do it in a couple of days).

    • +1

You can still do the coupon tricks, the 50% off members selection is over.

Don't worry, they'll have another sale in 3 days tops.

    • The sale was meant to go for 7 days. I think they closed it early when they saw everybody taking advantage of this discount.

  • +2

Razer gaming mouse, 2 cotton bath towels, 2 bras, a set of scales, 3x milka chocolate, key-ring torch, and 28 cuppa soups for the low price of $36. Thanks OP, one of the best deals in a while.

  • This is complex,
but it seems that if items that were in the 50% off group are searched directly, they still go into your cart with the 50% discount. Even though the sale has ended.

As a demonstration here is a batch totalling $53.89 that I just bought for $6.97 using a VisaPay $20 off option.

    "Have a coupon code?
    Sub Total$53.89
    Standard postage - $9.99
Discount (inc. Club Catch) - $56.91
    Total $6.97

    My Cart
    Faulding Remedies Vitamin C 500mg 500 Tabs
    2 x $4.99 = $9.98
    The Balloon Ride Pop-Up Book
    $7.99
    Explore Victoria's National Parks
    $9.99
    3 x Hamilton Family SPF30+ Roll On Sunscreen 50mL
    $4.95
    Tiny Smarts Flower Power Rattle
    $8.99
Meet Snugglepot & Cuddlepie Board Book
    $11.99"

Snag is, you need a record or a recollection of what was in the 50% off sale. Or perhaps find themjust by trial and error.

    • No,
seems not to be working now.
Just tried to do some more and they are not getting the 50% discount anymore.
I must have just scrapped in.
      Disregard that method above.
Even though I did juggle my cart for 15 min or more after the sale closed and the 50% off held up at the time, it seems the window of opportunity has now closed.

      • +3

        They found out,and fixed it….
