Just got melbourne to Hobart with jetstar for $32.40 for me and my hubby for his bday with no booking fee :)

      • +3

        $16.20 each return :)

      • Is it only certain dates that you get the discount?

        • +2

Yes only certain dates and there's only 50 seats on that route that's discounted soo the more ppl that have bought it at the $9 price the less dates available for that price I got onto the deal pretty much as soon as it was posted so most dates where avaliable at that price

Go moan at youf local pub…..oh wait, that might cost you more than flying to SA

    • +3

Lots of Adelaideans downvoting you for that joke! lol.

      • -8

I didn't think they had access to the internet to be honest. :)

    • why the hate with SA. even though i am from Adelaide, its pretty great. good affordable housing, nice beaches and great outback life. enjoy your cold weather, or busy cities, or ridiculous real estate prices, or beaches you cant swim in.

SA is great, just don't live up north.

      • +1

He just thinks he's funny with a joke from the 90s and keeps missing the articles where Adelaide regularly ranks as one of the most livable cities in the world.

    • +1

Don't worry we weren't looking forward to you coming.

  • +2

How do they work out $9 per adult & $60 per infant!

    • +1

      free with jetstar :)

    • +2

Because flying with babys is painful.

  • Just got flights from Melb to Coffs Harbour for $38 all up, much to do up there?

    • +2

Yes! Big banana. Go do the toboggan… Just wait at the top until the person in front of is long gone and then don't touch the breaks at all. Crazy fun. Like a rollercoaster but better because there is actually some danger involved ;)

      • Awesome! never new the Big Banana was in NSW, was thinking it was up Mackay way, thanks :)

        • +2

Yeah :) There's a fair amount to do at the Big Banana, enough to keep you busy for a couple of hours at least. And by May their expansion works should be done as well.

The Coffs Harbour marina area is really nice. You can walk out to the island (Muttonbird I think), and on the far side there's a spot where they do whale watching. Dunno if May is the season for it but maybe? On certain days there's a guide there to help identify them and stuff which is pretty sweet.

I'd recommend finding a bike hire place in Coffs, biking around definitely means you can explore more of the area. I brought my bike down with me from brissie and it was definitely worth the effort.

There's a camel ride place that takes you along the beach that I saw when I was there last? Pretty cool.

And if you can get there somehow (rent a car maybe), the Forest Sky Pier gives quite a decent view over the area. Would recommend!

          @astrodude:

Thanks for all that info! sounds like a bike would be great, its just under 10 km to that look out so I could just bike it haha

Did that one, came off the damn thing. Bit of friction burn and a couple of bruises. Still recommended.

I would also highly recommend taking the time to travel out and up to Dorrigo. It's about 45 min drive all up and you can visit the world heritage rainforest and the Skywalk which offers an amazing view to the coast. To get to Dorrigo you pass through Bellingen which is a great artsy/crafty/hippy town.

Also check out the Butterfly House, do the walk up Muttonbird and check out some of the local headlands like Sawtell for some great views and beach walks.

Plenty of accommodation and easting options for all budgets but renting a car is a necessity. (Just avoid the middle of Coffs in peak hour as it's worse than Sydney thanks to the highway running through the centre).

  • Thanks OP, booked return flights for the family to SYD with Jetstar.. :) $50 return pp, not bad.

  • Although it'll be a bit cold in May it's a good chance for someone to see a few destinations on a budget (Sydney -> Coffs Harbour -> Melbourne -> Adelaide one-way for $47 all up if using a Mastercard Debit card and no check-in luggage). Note the carry-on limits have been reduced to 7kg in line with budget carriers in Asia.

It's a shame the Bali specials from Adelaide aren't from May to create an even better tour.

Thanks! Booked return day trip to Adelaide for $18 :)

This is really cool, I haven't been on a holiday in 5+ years. I'm seriously considering getting some tickets! :D

    • +3

You should definitely book : )

  • Thanks OP got two return flights to Melbs for $45ish including seats. Makes up for the heartbreak from yesterday's Jetstar deals : )

  • im sick of being in Adelaide. everytime i go to price match with Jetstar, they never have flights between any Adelaide > * routes within the price beat timeframe of departure/returning.

Hey guys, i am trying to buy tickets from MELB to HOB for some reason it is not coming up with the cheaper prices? I was putting in that i wanted to leave on the 1st of may? got any idea what i am doing wrong?

edit: don't worry i am an idiot

    • I'm stupid too! How did you figure it out?

  • Not working for me :/ still comes up as normal prices instead of the $9. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Nice deal, thanks OP

  • +1

    Never mind.

  • +1

You have to look through the dates to find the $9 flights. I'm on mobile. I had to choose my dates, see if there were $9 flights on that day, and if there weren't I checked three days later then the last day I checked. I assume that if you are seeing the high prices then that day is out of $9 flights. :(

  • ehhhh It's hard when you have to choose their certain dates that are on sale. Ive already booked heaps of leave…. have to give this a miss!

  • Since SA seems to have it's own "SA tax" (probably more likely just due to a smaller economy ;) at these prices I might pop over to Melbourne or Sydneu to go clothes shopping :).

    • +1

You'll pay more to get out of MEL airport than the cost of getting there!

      • Dang, foiled again :|

      • The downside :/

  • There are some cheap melb - Bali return tickets. ~$250

  • Does anyone know how you get Jetstar to match and beat by 10%?

  • +2

I guess i'm going to the Gold Coast in May… haha

  • Can't find any dates so far syd to melb on sale

    • Because there is none. 50 seats 11 hours ago, 9,000+ clicks? not a chance now.

  • Damn i didn't make it in time, but i want to know what i missed out on, what departing perth deals were available?
