LG G4 H815 32GB $569 with Free Express Post from QD eBay

680

I ordered this on Saturday and it delivered yesterday from Taiwan to Brisbane.

They've got an office in Sydney so if there is warranty issues you post to Sydney and not Taiwan. Phone is going great. Slightly more expensive than the Kogan EBay deal but if you're interested in a good phone now I highly recommend this one.

It is missing the 2300mhz band for Optus4g+ but has 700mhz.

Happy with it so far.

Always had great experience with QD_AU

    • Yeh have to admit they've been good. Responded to my EBay messages really fast along with delivering the phone in 3 business days from Taiwan.

I think this is the standard price from QD. It was this price 4 days ago without any kind of sale on. Red leather $10 more :(

    • Yeh it's their standard price for a couple of weeks now I think.

mine is having wifi problems how to fix it? this is so annoying. its a brand new phone i just got today

    • What kind of issue? I was planning to grab the black one today… I just can't make up my mind :(

      • +1

wifi isnt working keeps dropping out and but it says its connected but its not

        • Wish I could help but mines working fine. 5ghz or 2.4ghz?

        • Is it because you wifi hotspot got problems? Your phone will still show it is connected via wifi even when your wifi hotspot have lost internet connection. My NBN at home sometimes lost internet when there are storms and heavy rains and my phone still show connected to wifi but can access internet.

        • Don't have this phone, but check wi-fi settings IN DETAIL. There can be a setting for 'High quality WiFi' (sorry my words, can't remember the setting) that can cause this type of symptom. Or contact where you purchased it and describe problem.

    • Seems to be a common theme with new android phones, similar issue with my HTC M9 .. try the below see if that helps :)… the smart wifi bettery setting things arent very smart from what i've seen so try those first and also make sure there are not software updates that need to be applied.

      http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/lg-g4-problems/6/

      • HTC M8 had that issue after the lollipop upgrade, and the fact I could not connect to Telstra 4G while in the CBD was a concern too. Switched to Samsung S5 on lollipop and no issues with that yet

    • Just got mine this arvo and have no issues with wifi, connected at work using Cisco Wireless Access Point, and now using an Apple Airport Extreme Base station set to 5ghz. Do you have access to a different WIFI access point for testing?

    • I would first try logging into your modem and change the WiFi channel for example from. Channel A to E. I had huge problems before that getting more than 4 WiFi devices connected before the changes

'It is missing the 2300mhz band for Optus4g+ but has 700mhz.'

Is this significant? Would it make a difference in the long term? (I'm with an optus reseller)

    • Basically 2300Mhz is the main frequency in Canberra - otherwise you may lose a little bit of fill in capacity, but nothing serious. 700Mhz helps more (since it has greater range/penetration capability - its the old TV frequencies)

      • In WA, I guess the 2300 doesn't apply over here? (With Optus)

      • I'm not sure if that is so true anymore. They have rolled out the 700Mhz band quite widely across Canberra now (I called Optus and spoke with one of their engineers about it before pulling the trigger and getting a G4 via the Ebay Kogan deal…and I've been to Canberra over the weekend and got 4G+ just about everywhere I went.

    • Basically yes and no cause they run dual frequency in most places but not every where from what I know so 700mhz will be used in the city and higher bands are used for more distance but don't penetrate as much

These guys are awesome go my last LG G3 from them and just ordered the G4

  • hmm… G4 or Moto X?

    • Good question. Moto X play or style? I can't decide either. Moto X style will be significantly more expensive, though.

      • My personal pick would be the style - for the screen size and the better chipset being used

SD615 (used on Play ) looks good on paper , but the devices I used them on had a lot of lag compared to 8xx series

    • I'd go with the g4 for the camera and dual window software…

But if prompt Android updates and a Stock Android interface is important for you, get the Moto.

    • G4

    • Strong rumours that the new Nexus phones will be announced on 29th September. Huawei one will probably be pretty similar size/specs to the Style. Will be interesting to see how they price it.

      • +2

So it's probably not the worst idea to wait another few more weeks?

        • Indeed.
We are likely going to get boned on the dollar conversion though with the nexus. I think it's likely that the nexus 5 2015 will be around 600AUD, maybe a bit more for the one with larger storage (esp including delivery).

I have no idea about the larger HUAWEI model though.

  • Does this version support fast charging?

  • We got the H818N from another company for the a very similar price. We have been happy with it. The 818N has different bands also but includes the bands we need and we are able to connect LTE with TPG Mobile, so no problems. As long as you have one band that is compatible, it will work.

    • +2

For anyone considering the dualsim models H818P or N be aware they are missing B17 700Mhz which is used extensively by Telstra and Optus for 4G.

      • Yep. They are missing that. However, for people travelling to China a lot, like us, it has the 2500Mhz band, which is used extensively in China for 4G/LTE.

  • How is the G4 compared to the G3? I hate my G3 with intensity of the sun. But don't want to write off LG due to a single bad experience.

    • +1

Well I can't give you a definitive answer as I never owned a G3. My sister has a G3 and she likes it. That still doesn't help though..

What was it about the G3 you didn't like? So far I'm enjoying the G4. Only downside to my One plus one is I've lost some screen due to on screen home and back button only with G4.

I believe this is rootable now so can put CM or another OS on instead if not happy with stock OS.

      • Why did you go to this from the 1+1? Didn't think there was much difference.

        • Just outside the year warranty and am now having battery issues/people can't hear me on the phone (which is important..). Never dropped it and wasnt due to an update either. Shame as I really enjoyed my OPO. This is a little bit better having an interchangeable battery, MicroSD, better camera and slightly newer tech, I guess.

      • Having quite a few issues and most seem hardware related.

Phone itself overheats quickly and too often, and the phone itself stutters more than our PM in an ABC interview. As well as being incredibly laggy in almost every single task

Currently experiencing a boot loop at least twice a day that needs the battery removed or connected to a PC (using stock ROM).

I "upgraded" from a Nexus 5 (also LG) and loved that phone.

        • Doesn't sound good. I only have the G4 a day so I can't really give you any indication just the I've read it's an upgrade to the G3 and generally excellent phone barring the battery going quite fast.

Albeit today I had the same usage as my OPO just home from work and sitting on approx the same percent battery as I normally did on OPO.

        • +1

I've had my G3 for a few months and it's been working perfectly. Maybe it's some of the apps you've installed? Have you tried backup + factory reset or flashing a custom rom?

If there's still a problem then it's hardware otherwise it's software related

        • @JiGa:

Do you have the proper g3 and not the beats. 16gb ? Is a totally different phone.

          Mines been working flawlessly

  • They've lowered the price like a week ago. Bought one right away and received it 3 days ago. It's a brilliant phone with nothing to complain about.

  • How much are the G3's these days anyway?

    • not worth buying G3 anymore.

      • I only got my G3 about 2 months ago (for about $363, deal I found here on ozb) and I couldn't be happier with it - if I could find one for that price or close to it still, I'd be grabbing one for the missus too!

    • Still holding their value, T-Dimension sell the G3 (32GB LTE model) for $451 and the G4 for $591.

      I'd spend the extra..

      • mine cost $400 a few months back, not worth more than that, but was good at that price.

    • I bought a G3 during the last ebay sale. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/200398

Was comparing this to the G4 and I wasn't prepared to pay 50% more for the G4, so went with the G3 which was great value and cheaper. Ultimately it's personal preference.

  • How is the battery life? I read battery life is weaker than G3. My G3 would only last 6hrs under normal use.

    • It is going to depend on what you call 'normal use.' For me, browsing the internet on the train in the morning and evening (45min each way) while listening to Spotify for most of the day (saved tracks) plus a few calls and some facebooking and emails will leave me with about 50% battery. Mind you this is approx 12 hours after the phone is taken off the charger.

More than half the price less than the iPhone 6S. Much better phone too

    • Less than half the price? More than half price? I'm lost. Agree it's a good phone though

      • Less than half the price, Much less than 6S…

  • +1

    Dont forget cashrewards

    • Indeed. I'll be getting $14.42 back I think from this purchase. Got an email yesterday about it.

  • If the screen wasnt curved would have bought it straight away!

    • It's not noticeable if that helps. Probably 1-2mm curve.

    • It's considered to be an advantage - it both fits the face better when talking on the thing, and the curve helps keep most of the screen off the table if you put it down face first - saving it from scratches.

Got mine delivered today, very solid upgrade from the G3. Camera is awesome and now you can also remove most of the LG apps.

    • Hey that's good to know about removing the apps, cheers.

  • Does anyone know how much better or worse this screen is compared to the Nexus 6? I'm having trouble deciding.

    • To me the G4 screen to miles better than the old G3 which could feel washed out, this has a more OLED feel about it. I'd say G4 is better

      • I was talking about the nexus but I saw the G3 in demo mode before, it was pretty good..the G4 must be way ahead then!

  • Whats worse about the LG G4 Beat?

  • Does this come with the beats headphones?

    • +1

      No, LG headphones

  • Finally got myself to buy one (brown leather), ordered Monday morning, got the DHL tracking Tuesday night and it was delivered today (Thursday) around 2:00pm here in Sydney even though on DHL tracking says estimate delivery date was tomorrow. Box wasn't sealed but everything inside was brand new, all the plastic protectors were still intact.

    • Yeh mine was a day early too. Mine had a seal on it though. Not sure if it was manufacturer seal or their own.

      • Mine had a seal too but pretty sure it's not a LG seal. I seem to having touch screen issues with random touches on the screen,

        • +1

Not good. Mine seems to be running fine at the moment. If you have to RMA keep us posted!

        • Been playing all arvo with mine and haven't noticed any issues with the touch screen. Just about to put in the tempered glass screen protector, hopefully it doesn't cause any issues.

        • @imolared:

Battery is a bit poor from what I've seen but I got a second LG battery and charging cradle. Works a treat. Got home and swapped the batteries out back to full battery for the evening. Personally worth it!

        • @geo365:

I actually had the F400K - original LG G3 from Korea until a few months ago, it came with the extra battery and charging dock but never really needed to use the spare battery even a full day out shooting video and pics while on a holiday in Thailand last April. Now if the wireless charging strip would arrive then all will be set for me.

        • @imolared:

Yeh I'll probably get a wireless strip too. You can get an NFC and wireless strip right? Don't want to lose the NFC. Was pretty great transferring everything from my OPO using it.

  • So been using it for a few hours now, touch screen is screwed. I turned on development mode and show touches and can see phantom touches randomly all the time, they're getting so bad I can't use the phone. Also the wifi seems to have big issues on 5ghz network. Youtube buffers and apps won't download but when I switch to 4G all issues are resolved. I'm on Optus cable 100mb so it's not the internet. Pretty disappointed so far the G3 was awesome!

Similar to the issue here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxA-CcgtaWo

Going to ask for a replacement now will update how it goes.

    • +2

      Hope you get sorted mate.

    • +1

i think its pretty common problem with LG G4 screen touch issue, just search lg g4 touch issue on youtube

    • This is a software issue, update to the latest OTA update (for unbranded H815, it is probably up to v10e or f by now).

I had similar issues with 10b on my H815T but updating it to 10c has solved it.

      • thanks I'm on 10c though.

        • well, then its a hardware issue. :(

    • +1

Updating: Seller was quick to respond and is processing it as Dead on Arrival, posting back to warehouse in Sydney which they will refund for, then will send me a new phone

      • Great news. Sounds positive. Impressed by these guys.

  • i GOT THIS PHONE FROM kOGAN a few weeeks ago.. Its pretty mad.. the camera is awesome. I went from a xperia z1 to this..,. pretty happy with it. love the IR blaster! Still getting used to it. there i a fair bit of LG bloatware, but you can uninstall it. nice phone.. Camera is awesome sooo much better than the sony.

    • How would this compare with a s6? Or LG vs Samsung in general?
