Problem is, their first policy will set you back so much in $$$ that it'd negate any savings made from the second half-price policy.

    • +1

Not really. I thought woollies would be competitive but they aren't. Woollies was 2.5 times the Coles quote ( before the half off).

  • Down down prices are down

      • Probably does not apply to Coles Insurance "Little Red Quotes"
      • Try it online. Works.

I find coles are always the cheapest and put great values on cars. They seem great (though I haven't made a claim with me).

    • i'm looking to get my first car.

Can you give me some points on why Coles insurance is good? =]

      • One good point is that you can choose your own repairer. Allianz also have this

      • Not sure about your age, but first car … I assume young?
I thought Coles does not insure under 30?

        • ah yea im young.
looks like I cant get it, if so =]

Coles is underwritten by Wesfarmers / WFI. If you're over 30, rates are pretty good. Have one policy with them, hence this offer which is well timed. Been with them 2 years, have always been the lowest price. Current quote was a third of the highest quote I got and half the lowest BEFORE THE DISCOUNT.

Also both Cars with Coles - also made claim - all good - and were the cheapest for the cars by atleast $150

    • +1

Cheapest even when compared With Bingle.

      • ** The Previous Year*** I do the Ring around - usually Starts with Suncorp - as I have been Insured with them over the years many times Cars and House
Budget smashed anything anyone else could offer, Sun, Youi, AMMI, W-QBE, Allianz- ( Bingle Not Checked) RACq NRMA

So we had 1 car with Coles and 1 With Budget -and both policies due - Coles rings and asks if I would like a quote for 2nd car or House n Contents
        Offer 2nd Car
They beat Budget by $150 on the 2nd car and 100 cheaper on the 1st car .

I made a claim for a not at fault - cause I CBF dealing with other peoples insurance companies.

        All they ask for is
        1. Name of other person, Licence # address contact and Insurance# Rego#
        2. They must have some DB with all rego's and Insurance # as they said yup ok no claim or access go get it repaired
        3. Take your car to where ever you would like

Other than the normal - wait 15 min to 30 min for someone to answer
and accent of person answering all was good

Thanks for this. Just got a car and we already have another vehicle on coles insurance in the family.

  • Tempted to move to this as the price is comparatively cheap. But the reviews are rotten. Maybe others could chime in with how they got on with their claim process.

  • Any one had any claim experience with Coles?

Looks like this works for house & contents too.

    Nice one OP!!

Great find OP. Just brought a new car which i am picking up later this week. Even with a 20% off code thru woolworths insurance coles were about $200 cheaper. My current car which i will be trading is with coles insurance. So if i purchase the second car policy before i pick up my new car and then cancel the policy that i have on the traded car next week it should work out great and save me about $500 on my new car + what gets refunded on the traded car

    • That's an awesome plan!

  • Link to website would be appreciated in the deal not text

I have claimed with Coles Car insurance twice. One at fault, the other not at fault. To raise the claim, just call them and they will take all the details. Then they will give you the claim number which you can bring to any repairer* of your choice. They can also give you their preferred repairer. *The difference is that with the preferred repairer, you only pay excess (if required) to the repairer and the remaining amount will be paid by Coles. But with non preferred repairer, Coles will send you the full amount (either by EFT or cheque - your choice) then you deal with the repairer by yourself. Then the repairer will send their quotation to Coles with that claim number which Coles will either get back to you within few days or the repairer will ring you to let you know that the claim has been approved so you can bring your car in for repair. You will need to be proactive in this case. If after 3 working days you didn't receive any phone call, ring Coles and check with them (please be advised that you may need to wait between 5 minutes to 40 minutes before you can get through to Coles Insurance claim section).

At the time of not at fault one, I hired a car with lesser class then the one being repaired and the other insurance company only paid the base cost (car only, excluding extra insurance), Coles Insurance tried to do their 'best' to get me the remaining cost, but they failed. So I have to called the other insurance company and told them that I hired a lesser class so I have the right for the remaining cost. And they just realised that, so they gave me back the remaining cost.

Overall, though Coles Insurance is not perfect (as other insurance company), but they are the cheapest and reliable (though it is a pain to keep chasing them as I have also claimed for paint protection - which was done 2 weeks after repaired and not replying to my email). If you are over 30 and have a rating 1 (I think), you can have price beat deal, put any low price beat in their quotation and they will beat it by at least $75. If they accept it, revise the low price beat to even lower, then then can beat for another $75. And that's it, no further price beat, unless you do the whole quotation again. My renewal cost $650+ but when I do it online, it came down to less than $350. What a bargain !

    Hope it helps.

I managed to get the first policy to price beat and then added less excess, windscreen cover and the price did not change - worth a try and it accepted it. Paid for and done - all other policies use the 50% code - thanks OP

    • Don't you have to call them for the price beat?

      • no happens online - you enter what you are currently paying (or less) and they let you know online straight away if you qualify for the price beat with the amount that they will offer the insurance at. If they say they can't beat it as what you currently pay gets lower - just go through the process from the start until you find the sweet spot.

        • Cheers, will give that a try again then.

    • Could you please explain the process in doing this? I'm not quite sure what you meant and how you got them to price beat.

      thanks

  • +1

I just renewed by Car Policy (very competitive price), then using the link provided at the end of the process was able to create a new quote for my house and contents for the same period, values etc and saved 50%. overall a great price for another 12 months. T&C's seem to suggest that you can renew and get the deal but website does not support it so I think i'm still playing in the spirit of the T&C's. Thanks OP for the post !

  • Do I have to cancel my old policy with RACV or is it done by Coles automatically?

    • +2

you have to cancel your own policies

  • +1

    Great deal. Thanks OP.

  • Is the deal still there in 12 months? Or, do you go back up in price/have to shop around again? I had a hassle cancelling & getting money back last time I switched…

What do most of you do each year?

  • If i have an existing comprehensive car insurance with coles, can i buy a new one with half price and cancel the old one later?

  • If I go for the car ins. alone, I save money this year- but if it weren't half-off, it would be more than I'm paying now…

Asking again— do most of you swap insurance continuously to save money temporarily?

    Cheers

    • I do - insurance companies have no loyalty to you so why should you reciprocate?

  • I've renewed with them this year. Better than past dealings with NRMA and RACQ. The 50% off may not be there next year but they will price beat to keep you. NRMA would only do that for new customers.
