      Photo quality and ease of use, i.e. How do they compare using the auto setting?
      Manual is not really needed as it will be a gift for my mother.

    Optical zoom is hard to find on a smartphone though. 20x is great.

  Believe me, this item is not a very good camera. I have a LX7 and long time ago i went to JBHIFI and compared mine with it. I do not suggest buying it.

    Yes, sensor size matters. Canon G3X would be my recommendation if you need super zoom camera.
