Average price and none in stock? Great deal!

    • Without listing the price..

      Could be anything like

      $200 to 500 per tyre..

    • Do tyres last about the same, no matter what brand or country made in?

      • +1

No. But more importantly, they don't grip the same. Stay away from cheap tyres.

        • How about korean and china ones?

          I got the following quotes

          Korean - $90 for hancook

          china - about $70+

          Bridgestone - $105

Would korean - hancook brands be good enough?

        • +1

@tyler.durden: Not sure about hancook, or unnamed China tyres. I have bought many Bridgestone tyres, and found them very good. Also had good experience with Pirelli.
My experience with tyres in general is that you will notice the difference if you suddenly have to break hard, or corner on a wet road. I have had scary experiences with cheap brand tyres, even if they still had thread on them. I have had such tyres taken off my cars (put on them by a previous owner) to replace them with proper ones after such experiences. In fact, the tyres with thread which seems to last forever are often too hard to have any decent amount of grip.

        • @Make it so:

I think in the rain, all tyres have poor grip.

The key is not to be speeding or driving too fast that you need to break suddenly.

Depends on the driver, some have a lead foot and need to break hard constantly.

        • +4

@tyler.durden: From my experience, wet grip is the biggest different for safety between premium and cheap type, even for same brand. Performance type can be vary depend on their purpose.

        • +1

          @tyler.durden:
Like leetec said, wet grip is probably the most substantial difference, the test conducted in the video below shows a difference of around 20 meters, that's at least two car lengths. Another thing i've found with cheap tyres is the rubber compounds are generally harder, whist this can provide longer life, it does in my experience produce more noise, something you will have to deal with everytime you drive. Best to research the tyre before purchase as are many great and terrible tyres out there.

Tyre maintenance is also important, try to ensure your tyres are at the correct pressure as this maximise fuel economy, grip and tyre life! lastly don't forget to rotate your tyres as well ensure they're aligned, misalignment can drastically reduce the life of a perfectly good set of tyres.

        • @tyler.durden:

Some more expensive tyres have excellent wet grip (on certain vehicles). I have used Bridgestone Ecopia PZ-X and Continental ContiEcoContact 5's on my small car. Neither aquaplaned. Both handled equally well on wet or dry road. But reading reviews I would choose differently for a medium or heavy small car.

Can't believe I actually have to leave my details to "request a quote".
Not sure this is a valid deal without pricing or availability.

    • I had to contact Bob Jane to get a quote on a set of 4 tyres for the Continental 4 tyres for the price of 3 deal. I was also asked if I wanted a wheel alignment when I spoke to the salesman, and he said it would cost $50 an top of the price of the tyres. I said yes, thinking it was something that needed to be done, but after speaking to friends and family who are better versed with tyres, I told the salesman I didn't want an alignment. The salesman then chucked it in for free :) I will also get a free tyre rotation, tyre pressure check etc. in 5000km. I could rotate the tyres myself but they will do it for free so I'm happy.

Why did your friends talk you out of an alignment? I find it interesting because as a car nutter I've always subscribed to having an alignment/rotate/balance done every 10,000km. I appreciate that I'm a bit more anal than the average when it comes to my car, but if you can't recall the last time you had an alignment done (which I presume is the case for you), I'm not sure why someone would talk you out of getting one. It's cheap insurance to ensure that your new tyres aren't going to wear unexpectedly.

      • +1

Don't fall to this trap. If you replace all 4 tyres at the same time, wheel alignment is compulsory and should be free.
If the sale tells you otherwise, haggle or find someone else.

      • You guys have to be very careful with these free or cheap wheel alignments, the tyre shop I used to go, their wheel alignment machine was calibrated in such a way that on paper it was showing the alignment within factory specs but I was wearing out sets of tyres like there's no tomorrow. After a bit of research, I found that the tyres should be lasting me a lot longer then they do and found a tutorial how to check toe with a piece of string. My mechanic sent me to a place where they setup race cars, for $70 they did a wheel alignment and the car now rolls without much resistance, handles a lot better and feels much safer to drive. If anyone was wondering, the toe was out 3mm on each side.

If your car is needing a wheel alignment every 10,000km something's very wrong with your car or driving style. I had mine done about 70,000km ago and it is still dead perfect now. Wheels don't magically go out of alignment on there own unless you're driving into gutters or have some sort of defective car.

    • Well i had only rang one store as its something im looking for in the next few weeks.. I am pretty sure there will be plenty of other sizes that will benefit others.

I got the serenity plus back in April and am very happy so far. Great tyres and you get free checks at Bridgestone every 10k km

    • What sort of free checks? Just for them to look at them or rotations?

      • Not the OP, but I think the wording is that they'll look at the tyres for free and rotate "if necessary" (or something to that effect). Truthfully I never bothered with the little discount book they gave as I'd take my car to a suspension specialist to get an alignment/balance/rotate done at the same time.

Got the Serenity Plus in 215/60/16 for $400 end of August with their buy 3 pay $10 for the 4th.
Fantastic so far…quiet and grippy on our Ford BA wagon.
The free check includes rotation and balance for life of tyres, unlike most other places that put you on a tyre plan that cost you money.

  • Great deal. Great tyres. I would highly recommend going to Bridgestone excellent service. I went to the Oakleigh store last year and got Bridgestone Potenza tires for both cars with the buy 4 get one free deal.

If you're looking for tyres in size 225/40/18 check out the Goodyear Asymmetric 2. They are one of the higher rated tyres and you can get a set of four at the moment from croydon Goodyear for $630 which is an excellent price. They buy that size in bulk which is why they are priced so well. I got a set for my car last week.

    • +1

Ah yes..will have to give them a call as i remember them from that rather lenghty posted deal from march last year. $630 is a great deal..well done. Many years ago i remember paying a lot more for the eagle gsd3 tyres in a size smaller.

    • @itsak do you have a direct contact there to get a better deal, or is it just best to call them up?

      • +1

Speak to rubal I believe he is the owner of the franchise. I originally saw him advertising those prices in a vw forum which is what I mentioned when I called. I don't think you'll have any problems if you say you saw the price advertised online. He has actually posted a deal on ozbargain in the last.

          Thanks for that

  • Had some Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002s previously. Was pretty happy with them, and thought they were good value even at the usual price (paid $220 each for 225/55/17). When my current tyres wear (Michelin Pilot Sport 3s) I'll probably give the Adrenalin RE003s a go.

EDIT: Just noticed this particular deal isn't for the Adrenalin range - rather they're offering $100 cash back.

      Hi,

How are the Michelin PS3's? I currently have the RE003 on my Audi A4, great tyres. But I am looking for 205/55/16 for my Golf. I was thinking about the PS3's or even some conti's.

I was gonna go with Bridgestone but thought give others a try :)

      Thanks,
      K.

      • This is actually the second set of PS3s I have. Very happy with both sets - they offer noticeably more grip than the RE002s I had previously, in both wet and dry.

The sidewalls are a bit on the soft side, so while they won't make for quite as sharp steering as other tyres, it does make for a relatively comfortable ride.

        Wear is pretty reasonable also.

My only complaint is that they are a bit noisy on coarse bitumen. Probably more an issue for me because I live in a regional area and there's a lot of single lane highways with coarse bitumen. They're smooth as silk around the city.

All in all though, considering the price, performance and comfort I think they're hard to beat - I'd recommend them in a heart beat.

Still wouldn't mind giving the RE003s a go though - I don't think they'd offer quite the same level as performance, but my driving style has become more sedate over the years so I'd probably just get whichever was cheaper.

        • Thanks for the info. I will give the PS3's a try on my golf when the tyres are up for changing. Also the Audi I may give them a go too when they are up.

  • Can anybody provide more first hand experience with the Turanza serenity plus. I thinking of Michelin Primacy 3 ST but our local Bridgestone Centre is closer and has provided good service on our other car so considering this offer.

    • +1

Serenity plus are fantastic based on the 1000km I have done on them so far.
      Grip well in the wet.
      Very quiet.
Paid $400 for 4 x 215/60/16's, which was much cheaper than similar tyres I was considering.

      • Was the $400 using this offer? Where was this? I'm considering getting them (same size as you mentioned)

    • Also for anyone considering the Turanza Serenity Plus. Got 4x 205/55/16 for $414 from Bridgestone Tyre Centre.

Had them for 2 weeks. They are doing fine. Quieter than my previous tyres but they were close to end of life.

Grip fine in wet for me.

  • Don't forget that Kmart Tyre and Auto (KTAS) are the Officeworks of car tyres. They beat any quote and often don't even ask for evidence.

So price up your 4 for 3, then give KTAS a call.

    • do they beat it by 5%?

  • That logo almost looks like NZs new flag

  • Guys, currently have Bridgestone Turanza ER30 (from factory) on the Corolla; done about 35k in them so looking to change tyres in the near future.

Any recommendations? Quiet/comfortable and fuel economy is at the top of my list (not sure if I can get all 3!)

  • I've currently got bluestreak tyres on my turd car and they have performed just as well as Bridgestones and dunlops. I admit I hoon around a bit and they hold up to abuse pretty well. The dealer said they were made in the same factory as Bridgestones but I dunno how valid that is

  • Just bought 4 x 195/65R15 Bridgestones Serenity Plus for $387 with the 4 For Price of 3 Offer. Also decided to spend $100 for a lifetime wheel alignment plan to cover 5 years of wheel alignment to meet the 50,000 km guarantee provided by Bridgestone.

My friend also paid the same amount $387 for 4 x 215/60R16 Bridgestones Serenity Plus with $100 for the lifetime wheel alignment plan after I suggested him to speak to Simon from Bridgestone Select Cheltenham (302 Bay Road, Cheltenham).

  • Nice.. How are you finding the tyres.. Though im guessing they would be all shiny and new
