  • I have an earlier version of this pasta maker. Its pretty sweet. The only thing is, its such a pain to clean that it has permanently taken up residence in the shed for now. I'd love to test out a model like this to see if its a bit better (the draw for the attachments is a winner) but I don't have the coin lol.

  • I hope we can hear from people who have used this model… I am interested but slightly wary.

If you're wary treat yourself to the Phillips Noodle and Pasta Maker, which you should be able to bargain down to less than $250. The Bosco may be as good, I don't know but I have the Phillips and its excellent. Plenty of reviews at ProductReview as well. I had a cheap one that was dodgy and sat in the cupboard, in comparison the Phillips gets a good workout.

      • thanks for the tip, that looks pretty good!

      • just bought the Philips
        :)

        • I'd be shocked if you're disappointed with it.

I've used the same machine under a different brand before and now have a Philips one. a few things that stood out are:
    - The plastic spiral that pushes the dough in this machine creates more friction thus the pasta come out very warm and becomes dry and crumbly very easily. Philips have a metal spiral with non stick coating and comes out cooler.
    - The tray is open at the top, so when you dismantle to clean the machine, left over flour/dough will fall into the tray and you'll need to clean that.
    - The tolerance for water/egg and flour ratio is quite narrow. I got it jammed quite a few times as it could not push out the dough. I put the same dough in the Philips that pushed it out fine.
    - Dough sticks to the plastic paddles and quite a bit of dough is left unused. You can of course stop it and pull off the dough with your hands but the Philips with the non stick is a lot cleaner.

Philips was more expensive, but worth it.

    • I have the Phillips machine (not the Bosco). The Phillips one is easy to clean, leaves only about 30-40grams of unused dough (there is always some stuff that can't be pushed out of the extruder).

You can make fresh pasta very quickly (you the noodles out before the water has boiled).

  • I also have the Phillips Noodle and Pasta maker. It is a great machine.

  • Might buy one if it comes with a 5 year warranty.
