Damn.. I bought my D7 about 4 weeks ago for $165 at MSY which at the time was the lowest price. Really good modem. Got dual-band and my DSL hasn't dropped out in well over 2 weeks (since I made some changes and rebooted it). Good buy.

  • AEST 10PM I assume?

    Thanks for the post TA.

      Yes it's 10PM AEST

      • Cheers!

  • Bought this in the last deal when it was $1 more. Glad I did.

Same here. I have been very happy with it. I'd suggest updating the firmware first before you set it up. The one I got had quite an old version and when I updated it, it lost it's config and wouldn't restore from the backup config I made before upgrading.

  • Is the AUS branded with local warranty ?

    • Australia Stock with Manufacturer's warranty.

  • Thanks for confirming.

  • New version or old version?

Or old stock or new stock?

  • What's the good about it compared to netgear ..

how are the VPN settings on this? can push everything to run via VPN via the router with all the bells n whistles?

I captured this GIF of the modem in action… https://media.giphy.com/media/Kz420G0aGw5mU/giphy.gif

  • Duh! Just bought one from MSY yesterday for $167. Good deal!

Officeworks price match EBGames would make it $142.45. Think I will go buy it from officeworks in the event I need to return it for warrant. Extra $8 for piece of mind =]

As per the store rep's comment above, this is Australian stock with manufacturer's warranty.

      • +2

Do understand, but does buyer pay return shipping costs or the seller?

    • agreed with R3x, you can't fault OW when it comes to return.

    • I think I might do this too! Thanks for your comment haha

    • Just picked up my own one from OW with price match.. Didn't have an issue

      • Does your box say 3 year warranty?

        • Yeah, right on the front in red, you can't miss it

  • I have an Apple Airport Extreme router + Dlink DM111p v2 modem combo getting sync speed of ~9.5Mbps 1.9km from the exchange. Would something like this help?
According to Internode I should be getting ~14/15Mbps - http://www.internode.on.net/residential/broadband/adsl/easy_…

Chipsets in the modem can make a significant difference. Some chipsets work better for distances under 2.5km from the exchange and others work better over 2.5km from the exchange. This is some detailed information here with various modems and chipsets and how they perform at the different distances http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1954308

      • Thanks mate, looks like I have some testing to do! Cheers.

  • This or pay extra for the D9?

    • Currently $229 @ i-tech atm with free shipping. Expires midday Monday.

  • I bought this last week from wireless1. It's a great ADSL modem router. Definitely good value for money.

  • Do you guys have any issues using this modem/router with Skype?

I've noticed that as soon as I cam, my whole internet goes down and I have to restart the router before I can access other sites again. As soon as I get back on skype and do a video call, it goes down again…

Yes I know I'm ugly, but surely my looks shouldn't bring the net down?

    Ideas?

    • Firmware update? Vaseline on the lens?

Doesn't do VoIP else I would jump on it

    • Think Billion is going to release a new VOIP ADSL router with wireless AC soon. So probably hang on to that until then.

  • hey guys, i was wondering if you knew whether with this router i would see an improvement in my internet speeds compared to my very old NetGear DG834G?
based on my research i know that distance to the exchange is probably a greater factor in determining my speed. Unfortunately i am very far from the exchange and with the current setup i only get about 1.2 mbps…. also could my old ADSL filter also have an impact on my speed? (im currently on adsl2+)

edit: arrgh. just found out iphone 5 doesn't support this new wifi standard. not good :(

i have the same modem earlier before i bought D7. In your case, i would say it wont effect too much due to you are far from the exchange. ADSL filter wont be the issue, unless you keep dropping out (i.e. possible noise on your filter).

the most noticeable different from me after changing to D7 is 1. distance and signal strength 2. usually with the old modem despite the signal is good on ur wifi, it get lags or dropping here and there.

      for $130ish, I would buy.

  • deleted.. old offer

Asked Officeworks to price beat the EB deal, and purchased the modem for $142, however, for few bucks more you get 3 years of warranty as marked on my modem box, instead of 1 year from this deal.

    • Nice even a more better reason to purchase it from OW. Just hoping that the D7 is the best modem/router for me. I am less than 100 metres from the DSLAM.

    • +1

I got it price beat against shoppingexpress deal and got it for $127.30 from OW :) and that was yesterday when the deal even hadn't commenced :)

  • I bought one about 6 months ago when it had the free USB wireless dongle on rebate. Great router, but there wasn't much of difference really compared to my el-cheapo TP-Link router speed wise. Nice to have dual band wireless but it still has issues going through concrete. I wouldn't upgrade for speeds alone IMHO. The Hard drive support and DLNA is nice, but for some reason on my Samsung TV it won't allow fast forwarding video files and it also drops out from time to time.

  • I am looking at this deal and noticed that the manufacturers warranty is only one year, but on other websites / competitors, the manufacturers warranty is 3 years. Can someone verify that this is correct? Or is this an error?

  • Is it available yet?
still showing as $169 for me

    all good now

  • was going to purchase this, however when in the process of checking out, it charges a $10.05 fee for shipping.
At this rate its cheaper to buy off ebay, has longer warranty too.
    anyone else getting this?

    • sorry read below..

its ok it auto applies the postage discount

  • Done!

  • when i finally chekced out all worked out

  • I am running home wifi in N protocol with a TP-Link W8960N, is there anything this one can provide more than what I have now?

    • Wireless AC will give you like 300Mbit if you're close to the router.

      • Thanks, not planning to run AC wifi protocol in the mean time.

  • nice, just purchased this too. hope its good. got a weird 'Special Discount 'Epic08PM-27092015' is invalid.' however it still came through!

  • Cheers, purchased.

  • Been thinking about this one for a while.
Couldn't resist the serendipitous login with the exact timing of the offer.

    Got one. Cheers OP

  • Bought… Really meant to do some research first but it had me at VPN and DDNS

  • PUlled the trigger on this one!
Cheers TightArse! My modem has been playing funny buggers with me (I think) so it'll be good to have some new kit, so if it is the exchange, I knows its not on my end.

  • Got one myself too…been waiting for a long while!

  • Mine just came in today took about 10mins to update and set up pretty happy so far. Replacing my old 4yr old 7800n

    • Thats exactley what i replace mine with.
