Panasonic TH-55CX700A 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD LED TV $1698 @ JB Hi-Fi

946

-4K Ultra HD resolution
-Twin HD Tuner- watch or record two TV broadcasts at the same time
-Quad Core Processor Engine

Been looking at these recently and saw the sale price on the 65" one posted earlier…

JB have been selling these for around $2300, and they were on sale for $1996 at JB and appliances online about a month back…

$1698 seems to be a great price for it right know considering the $AU doesn't look like climbing anytime soon…

Just noticed, it's also in the description, but not the title of this deal by TRENT86

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/212521

    So possibly a DUPE

    Still, a great price…

    • +4

Definitely a dupe, but great price nontheless.

You're awesome JV. Nit everyone has the courage to point out their own mistakes.

      • +1

        Nit > Not :)

      • jv's not a nit, buddy.

        • +9

          gnat at all

        • +1

Nit sure how to react now. Time to hand in my Grammar Nazi Certificate me thinks..

      • +1

Yeah I know it's so courageous to admit a mistake on an anonymous internet forum. That's some 911 first responder type courage action right there :p

        • +1

I think it has been well established that we actually care MORE about ourselves when we are anonymous online. Various TED talks and some forum talks here also suggest the same.

No deal, $1650 with free delivery (to most metro) at Appliance Central. Has been that price for weeks.

    https://appliancecentral.com.au/shop/index.php?route=product…

    • -1

      you win the prize…

    • +1

Free del to Melb too. Thanks Qbagger.

      • +5

I've been watching Panasonic CX(UHD) and CS(FHD) series prices like a hawk for the past 6 weeks :)

Best deal I saw (and this was only up for a very short time) was $2050 delivered for the 65" FHD TH65CS610A at Appliance Central (currently $2180)

Rest assured, I'll post any cracking deals, as long as they last more than a few hours!

        • I have also been looking at upsizing and i noticed at my local betta electrical they had the 65" cs series for $1999. But the other deal posted on the 65" uhd.. Mmm.. Decisions

        • Do you think that it's a good deal?? I need a new TV and ideally it should be 65" (at least!).

          https://appliancecentral.com.au/shop/index.php?route=product…

        • +1

@gasman70: That price $2180 delivered is pretty good but Appliance Central did have it at $2050 last week but only for a very short time.

    • +1

Bet if you went to Jb and said you'd buy it then and there with cash for $1600 and take it away they'll give it to you without much of a hassle. So arguably (depending on your bargaining skills and demeanor of the salesman) this may still be a better deal based on haggling skill.

    • $87 delivery for me so a + for the JB deal

  • Cheaper by a dollar than Bing Lee.

If getting it delivered, 2nds World maybe able to beat this price depending on where you live.

  • +4

    According to: http://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/size-to-distance-relationship
To get the benefit of 4k on a 55" TV you need to sit 1.52metres or less to the tv.

    • +33

When you get to my age, 480p and UHD looks that same at 1.52 metres…

      • +2

better sit .3m away then ;)

      • Who said that?!

    • I can easily tell the difference from 1080p and 4k from a few meters away.

      • +12

        Reading the price tag?

        • +6

Nah, just watching the only 2 hours of 4K in existence on a loop :)

      • yep same here and my eyes aren't that great either. go in store and I can tell the difference. whether i buy one or not who know, but i can see the difference.

    • -1

Yeah you know what AV nerds keep waving this dumb formulae around for determining where you should sit and what size TV you should be getting.

If you think there is no difference between a 720p screen and a 1080p screen at the same size and distance when it comes to mobile phones I say get your eyes checked. And yet according to le dumbo AV nerds there should be no difference because the formula says they can't make out seperate pixels. And then for some reason they act as though the formula doesn't apply to computer monitors and so 4K sitting 1m away from a 34" screen is making a huge difference in spite of the formula.

It seems to me the mistake is assuming that this is the be all and end all measure of screen quality.

as per mrdavedaves comment below, apply code ebay10 to bring the price down to $1529.10

  • +27

    Any bargains?

  • Great deal.. As usual. :)

  • +3

Does it come with a remote?

    • +6

No. You need to pair your phone or tablet to the TV in order to change channels.

      • +1

What, $1600+ and no remote, that's like a $3000 bicycle without pedals :)

        • +3

          Remotes are so 1970's
Anyway the app to use in place of the remote is amazing
It even has a feature to record live Tv straight to your phone using the camera and if you are lucky and rich enough to own the iPhone 6s the app allows you to record Tv in 4K
I was put off slightly by the in app purchases to unlock vol+ vol- channel+ channel -
As you have to pay for each one but it's definitely worth it as it only cost an extra $4 to unlock those 4 necessary functions

        • +2

Actually, every good bicycle comes without pedals.

        • @thelastnoob:
So what do you do when you go out with your phone or tablet, every person needs to have a phone or tablet to control your TV? Visitors? Guests house sitting\baby sitting?

Wasnt even born in the 70's but seems to me they didnt overcomplicate things, give me a remote anyday….

        • +1

          @worthy1:
Can't let others use my remote phone as you need to pay an additional $5 per user who has to sign in with facebook or fingerprint via touch id so i just leave it on abc

        • @thelastnoob:

          Unlock

More like 'wait 4 hours for channel button to recharge' because they want you to watch ads and you can buy gems to use the button 10 times.

      • are you guys serious?? no remote?>? wtf

    • Does it come with a remote?

      Two

Included Accessory : Touch Pad Remote / TV Remote / 3D Glasses (1 pc)

  • +3

No offense but is this the first time jv gets the most upvotes?

  • How many HZ is it? i don't understand

  • Not sure if 55" is gonna be big enough !!

      Maybe not for a bedroom…

  • +14

$1529 at Bing Lee with ebay10 code

    • Thanks for the code!

    • +1

      Now that is a bargain!

    • Thanks. Jb declined to reduce single dollar. I purchased from binglee with code. Saved money. Thanks for the code.

    • free delivery?

    • what is this ebay10 code? is it targeterd?

  • I think we should all stop talking and watch the Star Wars trilogy in HD (the prequels and not the boring original trilogy).

  • +11

how is this a bargain when you can get it cheaper at bing lee or appliance central. why so many positive votes?

    • -2

Many of us would not have known of those cheaper prices if jv had not posted this.

      • +12

So I can post anything and people will let me know if its cheaper elsewhere and still get upvotes?

        • +5

          Only if you're "OzBargain Famous"

    • agree. not a bargain. just a popularity contest.

    • how is this a bargain when you can get it cheaper at bing lee

Costs more at Bing Lee. I wasn't aware of appliance central's price when I posted, as I wrote and acknowledged the better deal in the post by Qbagger above. Which is obviously the only way you found out about that deal too…

      • as mentioned previously - binglee for $1,529.10 after applying ebay10 discount code

        • -2

You wouldn't have known that until you read this post…

        • +1

          @jv:
Using that mentality we should all post deals that are not the best value at the time of posting and hope someone will post a better deal is the discussion

  • +23

Cheaper at other retailers. jv would have downvoted this if another member had posted it.

    • -1

Cheaper pick-up? I think it is cheaper delivery, so still a valid option on there somewhere… I think.

      • People who down voted, can you link cheaper store to pick up from?

        • as mentioned previously - binglee for $1,529.10 after applying ebay10 discount code.
binglee is a physical store if you didn't know.

        • @MountFranklin:

And the eBay deal is for collection? Because that was my point, if you can then this deal should be closed and the Bing Lee one should be made a deal, if not then perhaps people should take it a bit easier.

        • @FabMan:
It is NOT a eBay deal. The coupon is applied to Bing Lee website. The code is ebay10 but has nothing to do with eBay. As mentioned previously you can buy from Bing Lee with coupon code ebay10 - the code could has no connection to eBay.com.au
So yes you can collect in store

        • +2

          @MountFranklin:

Then this is a terrible deal and Bing Lee one should be the only deal!

        • +2

          @FabMan:

          Glad you've come around :D

    • I'm going to neg this deal as it's available cheaper elsewhere and JV would be the first to neg it.

      • -3

JV would be the first to neg it.

        You are wrong…

You actually downvote more than I do…

    • -2

      jv would have downvoted this

Really? How many posts have I downvoted ????

      • +2

OK, in fairness I have no idea.

        I'll re-word to:

jv would have dismissed this deal in the comments given that it is available at other retailers at similar or cheaper prices and then referred the poster the posting guidelines which ask that members CHECK competitors pricing before posting

And I shall revoke my neg!

        • -2

jv would have dismissed this deal

          you are wrong…

If that was the case, I would have done it at Trent86's original post about these deals…

        • +1

          Oh lordy. OK jv.

        • +2

JV, this is exactly what you would have done.

  • Can it do 4:4:4 ??

  • +2

Sucks they don't make Plasma anymore. The only option for a great picture these days is OLED and here in Australia they are curved, so designed for one viewer.

  • +1

This year's generation of LG OLEDs will have them 'flat' again, though the price will not be any better. Especially when you consider the struggling AUD as well as Australia Tax…

Panasonic is getting into OLEDs as well, though those will be curved for the first generation that is about to be released and they will be double the price of LG.

4k HDR blu-ray players will only start coming out early next year and who knows how long it will take for enough decent quality content to be released as everyone moves to HDR and HDMI 2.0a, still a couple of years away by the looks of it.

    • I'm holding out for the Pana OLEDs. (Unless I can get a 65in GT series Plasma for dirt cheap before then).
Really looking forward to seeing how they compete with LG.

For those interested, here's a link regarding Panasonic predicting the OLED price will drop in 2 years.
      http://www.cnet.com/au/news/oled-will-be-affordable-in-2-3-y…
Also a good video explaining the tech when you scroll down.

This deal (And the cheaper free shipping deal posted withihn it) is a great one though.
Hopefully actual 4k content (and a good price drop) will be in abundance by the second release of the Pana OLEDs.

I prefer the picture quality on the Panasonic.
