Lol this is is crazy time to post bargains. But +1 for effort.

  • I'd be worried if he wasn't posting bargains at this time ;)

  • I assume he works in Arvo shift.

  • +9

We'll return the favour by posting some Sleepmaker bargains for you.

  • +1

The price of the Panasonic Tv comes up at $2696 not $1996.

  • +11

I'm holding tight to my Panasonic plasma until OLEDS become affordable. Each to their own of course but I really hate looking at the LED TV's.

  • +2

"Panasonic TH-55CX700A 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD LED TV" is $1998 not 60"

  • +1

60" still coming up as $2696

  • Big difference between $1996 and $2696 - $700 to be exact!

  • Anyone been down to check if JB lists the Panasonic at $1996 instore or if the poster made a mistake and mistook the 60" for the 55" that's on the page?

    • +1

      Pricing error.

I went down to Melbourne Elizabeth Street Store, saw the TV with the ticketed price of $1996. Inquired about it as I was in a market for a Panasonic 60' TV. Wasn't looking at 4K TV until I saw t then decided I would ask about it.

The guy searched on his PDA, found it as a pricing error, immediately took the price tag off. I thought OH? PRICING ERROR! I buy it NOW!

They obliged and gave me for $1996. They said it's $600 below cost price. #winning!

I hope its a good TV, I was originally going to buy the Panasonic Viera 60' Full HD LED TV.

      • edit

Not a pricing error as of today. The sale is meant to start today instead of yesterday for the Panasonic TVs.

Sale ends 28/09. Now go! :D

  • Does it support VP9?

  • +1

My father-in-law has been looking at buying the LG for some time now. You've just saved him $1200 and made me the best son-in-law ever for finding this.

    • +1

the LG 65UG870T is one awesome TV

  • +2

They pulled it, I managed to get the 60" at $1998 with shipping made it $2048, however it got pulled…

It may have been a mistake however if you want it delivered for $100 more check this out:

    $2148 for the 60" UHD
    https://appliancecentral.com.au/shop/index.php?route=product…

Or if you want the 55":

    $1650 for the 55" UHD
    https://appliancecentral.com.au/shop/index.php?route=product…

I'm looking to get the 55"…

    • Not sure if this helps, the Panasonic has passive 3D (polarised 3D glasses)…

      • Only in the 60" model I believe, not passive on the 55"

  • +4

i think this LG has better value than the Samsung few weeks ago?

    • +6

much better value.. the LG passive 3D $1 Hoyts/Event Cinema glasses no battery needed is so much nicer then the Samsung active 3D $60 flickering headache inducing glasses

      • +2

        and we get negged.

        • +2

Plus don't forget. This LG supports full 4:4:4 Chroma for 4K PC Gaming over HDMI 2.0

        • @shadowarrior:

How do you find this out from the specs?

        • +2

          @carlitos:
          HDMI Port 1 supports HDCP 2.2 and 60fps @ 2160p

  • +1

    Disappointing that a $3k TV doesn't have h.265 support.

    • My Samsung 4K TV does…this should be standard on all 4K sets?

      • +1

I definitely think it should be standard, with video moving to h.265 it's not acceptable for a current generation TV to not be compatible - especially when the TV is worth $2k+. Good to hear that Samsung have adopted the format.

    • Interesting…. and unusual! I would almost be inclined to take a USB stick in store with a h.265 video and test that.

EDIT: It claims to support HEVC in the web browser.

      • Hmm interesting, hopefully that means you can also plug in a USB stick with HECV and it will work. Would be great if someone was able to test.

  • -5

    Who needs it.

  • Any reviews on the panasonic?

  • Anyone have any experience with these large curved screens and viewing angles or depth distortion when playing games.

  • +1

I have access to 7.5% discount on jb gift vouchers thru work too which puts this LG at roughly $2590

    • Nice!

    • +1

I only get 6%. No fair!

      • I get 0%! Lol does that make you feel better?

  • anyone know how is it compare to samsung 65ju7500?

    • +1

Although i haven't used the LG set listed on this page, i do have the Samsung 65JU7500 of which i purchased in the July period for $3990.

If you are looking for picture quality, this set is the one for you if you cannot fork out extra for the SUHD model.

This television is awesome, picture quality is great even though our broadcasting stations don't support HD. People say that you don't need a 4K TV if there's no 4K content, but really, the HD content is 'up-scaled' to make it seem so. "Gimmick" or whatever people call it, it works, and i would assume so with LG. Although not RAW 4K content, It does look HEAPS better. The curve isn't as annoying as people state… but it may for you. Samsung JU7500 has tonnes of features, dual screen, recorder, etc. The only con with this TV is that it does stutter when you use the web browser or open apps and forget to close it, other than that, it's an awesome piece.

LG's television set seems really worth the price and i would definitely buy it if i didn't have my Sammy TV right now, and, comparing it to Samsung's JU7500 range, definitely LG for its price.

      • Whats the curve/viewing experience like for people sitting on a 45 degree spot.

        • The curve is VERY subtle. To be very honest, the curve is so subtle that it seems that i am viewing it on a flat screen TV when viewing it from the middle. Branching to the sides you will see the curve, however the picture is not distorted or anything, the viewing experience is the same from anywhere i view it, except, you'll just will notice the curve. My parents didn't like the curve feature on paper, but when they watch TV or so, they didn't complain or anything, they like it.

I've read posts of distortion and all that so i went in stores to test it out. I viewed it from different angles and distance, and i don't know where these people get their ideas from. There is really nothing interfering with your picture quality from the curve.

TL;DR: The experience is normal from anywhere, and it shouldn't be a deciding factor. The curve is for aesthetics, that's its sole purpose, and it won't ruin your experience.

I suggest you go in-stores and did the same as what i did to see if it will really bother you (:

        • @Aced21:

          Thanks

      • thanks for your advice. i ll come to jbhifi asap. the first time i saw the samsung ju7500 . i love it so much. the curve look so ssexy, but the price is too high for me.

        • Yes! GOGOOGOGOG! At the time when i bought mine the RRP was $5.3k… and Bing Lee sold it for $4990; using Ozbargaining skills i managed to get it down, but this LG is a must buy since you're looking for a TV. Good Luck and Enjoy :D

        • +1

@Aced21: just bought. :') ask for a cheaper price but they said that is final price.

        • @thanhliemduong: Congrats on your purchase!!! Feel free to update me on the experience later (:

        • +1

          @Aced21:
thanks. just finish setting and watch youtube on it. so happy. but im not able to watch 4k from youtube app.

        • @thanhliemduong: I bought in $2720 + delivery

        • +1

@nisarg: lucky you. i read on whirlpool, a guy there got offer $2500 :(.

  • Dang. I just bought LG 70"refurbished one for 3.3k a week ago.
    This deal is even better.

  • -3

So the 55" is $1998 and the 60" is $2696

  • +2

Sorry bout the Panasonic guys, stupid pricing error! Good on the ones who for it for that price :)

  • Any way to find out about the input lag on the LG? I assume its got a game mode.

    • +1

Am researching that right now as well. They market this model in other markets as UG8700. Let me know if you find anything.

  • Cheers. My old lady bought the LG on my advice. Said it was the quickest TV purchase ever. Got the last one as well.

  • +1

Pretty decent tv with nice extras for the price.

  • Thankyou op. Finally upgraded my old plasma

  • Bought the lg this afternoon, fired it up and it's magical. :) worth every penny. Bundled it with a soundbar, super awesome!

  • Anyone know the screen latency (XXms) so we can determine how good it is for gaming?

  • Purchased!

  • Damn I bought that 65ibch Samsung a few weeks back but would have preferred this! Never mind

    • How is it and what's your view on the curved screen?

      • Love it.. The Mrs was sceptical on curve but your hardly notice. It is gimmicky but don't regret it one but. Still a great TV but prefer the LG

  • +2

Looks like they have put the Panasonic on special guys

    • Damn! Hahaha I was dancing on the pricing error for like a day!

The guy said the price is below the cost price. Not sure about that now! Hahaha but it's still cheap! Hope it's a good TV. I'm not picking up the TV till Nov. Wanted them to ship to my new place. Hopefully they won't have an even bigger sale on this!

      Cheers Trent86!

    • +1

Superb price on the 60" UHD model @ $1996 - you're a visionary! Ahead of your time :)

      • hahaha cheers!! I won't open it till I move into my new place… So fingers crossed that I'll get blown away by the quality of it when I unbox it in nov!!

  • I got myself a LG 65UF850T for $2450 a while back on special… not sure what the difference is between that and the LG 65UG870T .. apart from the curve .. but I'm very happy with it and input lag is non existent.. I think its because of the quad core CPU.

  • +1

I noticed the panasonic 55" is cheaper at appliances online for $1650
    https://appliancecentral.com.au/shop/index.php?route=product…

  • To anyone who picked up the LG TV, can you try a H.265 encoded clip via USB and see if it works? It should.. But the specs suggest it may not?? But it says the web browser does? lol

  • +1

Looks like the LG is back at $2798 which would appear to be normal price now from the website. It doesn't say that it's on sale.

    • was a one day only sale for that one.

    • Looks like they have extended the offer to while stocks last.

      • I was this close on purchasing the LG…then got side tracked looking at the Samsung JS9000 series. Anybody who has bought the LG yesterday have a 9 series NVIDIA card (HDMI2?) had few questions to ask.

        • Thats the New Samsung SUHD One which is said to be bloody fantastic

        • @TRENT86: Yeah. Tbh, I couldn't see any heaven and hell difference between the js9000 and the lg when I looked at them side by side. So bit confused.

        • @shadowarrior: Guess it depends on what you were viewing, was it 4k content?

        • @TRENT86: Yeah they both were playing 4k demo. Checked the 65js9000 to compare the lg. There were some TVs and as soon as you looked it stood out, but not between these two.

My use will be pretty much as primary display for my gaming pc.

        • @shadowarrior: Well compared to the price difference I wouldn't go near them yet the 90000 I mean :)

        • @TRENT86:
Hey Shadow I also weighed these two up. Picked up the LG for the price and you couldnt tell the difference really since here is the real difference. Samsung does 10 bit colours while the LG can do 8 bit but 8 bit is the norm and theres no real plan to go 10 bit content. It can somewhat introduce extra colouring though like upscaling but not a big deal I think for 1000-1500 more.

        • @carlitos: Thanks carlitos. Did you hook up your PC to use 4:4:4 full chroma yet in 4k? How's the input lag?

@Trent, yep exactly my thought. I couldn't see anything that would justify the extra $ to go for the 9000, still had some ifs and buts hence posted here :)

        • @shadowarrior:

Yeah input lag is perfect. Infact while no lag, I found the 'game mode' too be too limiting in quality and blurry, so added some post processing effect/sharpness and still was playable latency.

          Very happy with it.

  • How does the 65ug870 compare with the 60uf850? Apart from the curve, and 5" difference.. Is it worth the upgrade?
    Cheers

    • +1

Just the Curve, Star Rating & size so it will depend on price whether you get the curve or not, How much is the 60UF850 you're looking @?

      • I bought the 60uf850t 3 weeks ago for $200 less. Thinking of getting it returned..
I guess picture quality should be similar? Wondering if the 5" and curved is worth tge extra $200?
It's not much difference in price, but I'm more concerned if curved TVs are more proned to issues over the long term.
        Cheers

  • Nice post!!! Makes it hard. I was thinking to buy this on the weekend. http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-58-inches147cm-uhd-led-lcd-…

Lg 58UF830T which I find might be possibly the same as U.s model spec 58uf8300 but I can't seem to find any details in regarding to if it uses an IPS panel. We can't seem to find too much info as different countries seem to state that it uses IPS panel but some don't. Very confusing. Also note though it may be a goodguys special model too which is probably why not on LG website.

Maybe it might be worth just buying the 65ug870.

  • lg tv back to normal price now

  • Saw it at reduced price Saturday, Jumped up to full price again online Sunday morning!
Bought mine last Thursday when first on special and awaiting delivery :-)
