    That's a big 10-4

  • what's the use for this?

    • Old grey nomads use them when towing the caravan. Good to have as you can tell them to get the hell out of the way when they clog up the country roads when driving at 60km per hour.

    • to chat to all the YL's that be out there on the airwaves…

      • Ha, you don't get YLs on CB, they're more OM than the OMs.

listening to truckies can be entertaining on long drives

      • truckies conversation is not what I consider entertainment.
unless you want to listen to a bunch of redneck yobbos

        Rather just use my iPad…

        • unless you want to listen to a bunch of redneck yobbos

          precisely

  • What's the acceptable range on these things?

I'm fearful of rusty nail & candy cane situation…

About 16km in good conditions, flat, and appropriate aerial for distance. Most dont run that way. For hilly country a 3db aerial, for long flats 9, and a 6 is a great all rounder (most 4wd run this), or have a 3 as well tucked away in the car. Its a tad more complex, but in a nutshell, that'll do.

The handheld, good for car to car, spotting for a 4wd on tracks, about 2km in best conditions. Probably realistically, under 1km.

Price is good without the handheld, so with it its a bargain if youre in the market and like this particular radio.
