  • Nice price and with speaker too! :)

  • Do monitors make good TV's?
I am thinking of saving some $$$ and buying a monitor and adding PVR or something to it.

    • Definitely. They almost always have higher resolution compared to tv of the same (or even bigger) size.

You need to find a SD/HD box or PVR with DVI / VGA out (or use an adapter), then typically the ratio ie 16:9 or 4:3 will be out of whack with a monitor so people will look either slim or fat, also speakers on monitors usually aren't up to the task of being used as a TV.

      All up - bad idea

This monitor is 16:9, and it has HDMI, so chances are the set top box or PVR he gets may have HDMI out. As for speakers, it's got a headphone jack, so all he needs to do is get a decent pair of comp speakers and plug em in.

The trend in recent years though is for monitors around this size to go 1920x1080, aka 1080p. This is FullHD TV resolution and there should be no reason why this would not make a good TV panel.
