        edit: delete.

      • Thanks for replying and for the information.

        • no problem buddy :)

  • Well cuckolded, sir.

  • Would this work fine when connected to a dvd player with HDMI output?
Wouldn't need anything else, such as speakers, as there is already inbuilt speakers?

    • That is true, but generally speakers attatched to monitors aren't very good. But if you're happy with it that's all that matters.

    5ms is not good

    • I think this 2ms opposed to 5ms is a gimmick to me… And if it even does matter, I think a better graphics card will provide a better experience than that.

      • +3

I've had a 8ms monitor for 3 years before upgrading recently, although I mainly play FPS games the 8ms was never too slow to see any tearing / blurring.

Anything under 8ms would work fine.

Wikipedia reports anything below 10ms begin to become imperceptible due to limitations of the human eye .

I always wanted to turn my monitor into a tv..

Besides purchasing the tv box thing what else do i have to do?

Also how much is it ??? OLC can you help?

    • You need/should buy a HDMI Set Top Box.
There are plenty to choose from.
I used my DGTEC HD 500GB PVR with a monitor and it worked fine.
The picture was not the best because I was sitting 2+ metres away from my 27" Viewsonic monitor.

  • .

  • just placed an order, am going to pick it up on Sunday. Their website says pickup is not available on Saturdays.

  • How much is the profit margin for this LCD? LOL

  • Good price but if you don't need HDMI I would rather have a SAMSUNG 2333SW+ from MSY for $16 more.

The SAMSUNG 2333SW+ is a more tried and tested monitor and comes with the SAMSUNG Zero Dead Pixel Policy warranty for 3 years.

The PHILIPS pixel warranty says up to 5 bright/black pixels is acceptable:

    • Looks like a POS and has shitter viewing angles.

Btw, this monitor is on sale as it's an EOL product… so get in fast, there will be no restocking, by the looks of things.

      • I'd be suss about their claims since it's still a TN panel. Monitor manufacturers have a history of fudging certain product specs.

There seem to be no thorough reviews out there for this PHILIPS monitor.

One review I could find says it's a terrible monitor for films and gaming with major ghosting:
        http://www.digitalversus.com/article-357-5177-53.html

        Still, a good deal.

  • whats the difference between having HDMI and not having it? Would it make much of a difference? Obviously i have a good graphics card but would it be a better experience if i bought HDMI then??

also investigating this further (even though this monitor has VGA/DVI/HDMI Input) - would I have to get a DVI to HDMI cable to experience the HDMI quality? also sounds like DVI to HDM cables are expensive too

    • actually they pretty much the same, i never use HDMI myself if i connect this monitor to Computer. Most people prefer to get HDMI to connect to their console or they want to use speaker from the monitor.

    • I need a monitor with HDMI input because it's to be connected to a laptop with only HDMI output.

    • HDMI = DVI + Sound

The video quality of HDMI and DVI is identical.

  • this is worth the price; I bought it a while back.

  • Sorry guys sold out, Thank you for your purchase

    • +1

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :(

      • are u going to order more olc?

  • For those who have this monitor, is the stand removable? Picking mine up on Sunday, but would like to know beforehand.

    • The stand base is removable. I don't think the stand column is removable.

It doesn't have VESA wall mount.

  • Ah, right, thanks for the info. Even if it isn't vesa compatible, I would still be able to wall mount it, right?
    Thanks

    • From the pics I have seen on the net, I think you're going to have trouble wall-mounting this monitor.

      • how do you know how hard it is mounting the monitor when you havent even tried it you just seen it on the net.Is there any option or good deals i can buy same specs as this monitor camelgrass

        • Look at all the pics here:
          http://product.pcpop.com/000163881/Picture.html

I’m not saying you can’t, but it doesn’t look easy.

If you don’t need HDMI, MSY have the SAMSUNG 2333SW+ with 3 year Zero Dead Pixel Policy for $195.00. It is also VESA 100x100 compliant.

There are probably quite a few monitors available with HDMI and similar specs as the PHILIPS in the low $200’s.

          • @camelgrass: Does that Samsung one have speakers?

            • @ShortyX: No.

The speakers on the PHILIPS are only 2x2watt. Most people would get/have a decent pair of computer speakers anyway.

              • @camelgrass: hi are you chinese i can not understand a thing in that website u showed me…
