Very different.. the NX500 is far larger. Much bigger/better sensor on the NX500 as well.
@Thrawn: True. Different categories so get what will suit your kind of shooting.. I prefer the mirrorless cameras and can't justify the cost of a compact camera like the rx100 iii.

I starting wanting the RX100 but ended up with NX500 once i looked at it properly and for the type of photography I typically do.
Awesome camera, did not regret.
An interesting feature: you can automatically geotag the photos in the camera using the smartphone GPS positioning when connected via BT. It also synchs date and time on location (phone gets updated via mobile network), very handy when traveling across timelines
There are many other things you can actually do from the corresponding app on the smartphone, with BT or WiFi connection.

Pretty much the same guts as the NX1 without a viewfinder and video out.
I got this kit(http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/category1531_1.htm) for $698 last week, so I'm pretty chuffed with the price hike.
Works out cheaper with the lense and extra's, so not a great deal from JB, but better than what it was.
Lenses arn't too expensive either.

I have both the NX500 and the NX1. The NX1 is my main and the NX500 is the backup. The quality of the images are amazing, and tho the lens selection is small on the Samsung eco system, they are quality lenses.
Note the NX500 crops the sensor when doing 4K video.. Makes that feature kind of pointless
Yep. 4k gets a little impractical for normal use as it crops it again by 1.6x (on top of the 1.5x crop of APS-C).

There is a persistent rumor going around that Samsung is going to close its camera division. Hopefully it's not true.

They only have black I think. If you are in VIC, it is pretty much out of stock everywhere as of yesterday evening. I was lucky to grab the last one in Chadstone!
Thanks for the tip, I was going to wait until Sunday but got it today instead. I added to cart on the website and selected pick up to see which stores were showing stock, got one at Fountain Gate. Stoked with this deal considering I already have NX lenses and they never go on sale.
