There's mention of the Pebble Time and Time Steel in this catalogue for those interested. "Coming Soon".

    • What a bargain!

  • Does anyone know if the 4G modem is locked to Telstra?

    • Should be

    • +1

As with most deals. Click on photo of modem above, read previous deal comments. Easy.

    • +5

      ZTE MF90 are on the dc-unlocker list. - https://www.dc-unlocker.com/supported_models_1/zte

      • Thanks!

    • Does anyone know, assuming it is locked to Telstra can I use any Telstra SIM in it? Or does it have to be a prepaid sim?

      • I think it's carrier locked, but no distinction between post and prepaid otherwise.

  • +1

That LG Leon is a good deal for a mid-range phone.

    • Plus the build quality is pretty damn good apparently

    • +2

I bought one during the last woollies deal (same price). Quite happy with it. The only thing I am annoyed about it that the power and volume rocker are located on the back of the phone rather than the side, which makes them hard to reach depending on the situation.

8gb of space rather than the 4gb you get with the Huawei phones which makes a world of difference. The camera is fairly rubbish but that is par for the course. Camera probably still marginally better than the Huawei.

Default keyboard' launcher and skin are all crap as well but that is easily fixed.

Better updates as well with lg compared to Huawei. I do wish that it was vanilla android though as I'm not keen on all the lg crapware that comes with the phone.

      • +4

My LG G4 has the buttons on the back and once you get used to it, you'll get frustrated every time you pick up a phone that has them on the side :)

        • My LG G2 has got the buttons on the back of it too, and it can be pretty easy to reach, depends on the particular situation ;).

        • Agreed! And same with phones that don't have double tap to turn the screen on/off. I rarely have to press any buttons on the LG G3.

      • +2

Having taken phones apart before the reason why LG puts the buttons on the back is because it allows for smaller bezels and thus a screen that is almost edge to edge. (at least, on the flagship G series)

If you have buttons on the side you need about 3mm of extra space to accommodate the tactile switches.

    • Yep looks pretty decent. Supports 850mhz/900mhz on 3G, and Band 3/28 on 4G, so it's great for Optus or Telstra.

can the Telstra 4G WiFi Modem MF90 be unlocked?

    • +1

      see my comment above

        • +2

So why don't you post some bargains yourself and contribute?

          @holden93:
          r u here to fight?

        • @ibtihaj:
          Not a good start 👎

        • if you want free then google it to see if there are options. If there is then come back n share your find.

    • Could try the free (cracked) DC-Unlocked process I posted for the Telstra ZTE MF91. It's a different model, but may work. It will say if modem is recognised before you try to unlock.

      Otherwise Google.

      • Had a PM from sendoor who downloaded the software, but it apparently did not recognise / unlock this modem:-(
        Was worth a try.

  • Thanks, been wanting (but not needing… yet) that LG Leon for a while!

  • The Altech PVR works OK to record up to 6 programs on 3 networks. But has some serious failings & is often offered much cheaper. I got rid of mine after a few days.

  • The MF90 could be good in the car if it could turn on automatically.

  • +1

I wonder if you could unlock the LG Leon C50???

  • I can't get ADSL or the NBN at my brand new place…so I guess the MF90 will suffice for now! Thanks OP.

    • Get a Telstra 4GX enabled device, strongly recommended if you can afford Telstra Mobile Broadband.

Edit: the MF910 is the cheapest of the 4GX enabled WiFi dongle
      See http://www.dicksmith.com.au/telstra-prepaid-4g-wifi-mf910-ds…

      • +1

Thanks Bappy. I'll have a look. I really want to do this on a budget, and the Telstra recharges aren't cheap :(

        • You could try a wireless ISP if you are going to use this as your main connection.

In Perth, we have http://www.redbroadband.com.au/ . $49 for 50GB p/m. I haven't used them so cannot vouch for their service but I assume there are other ISP's available to the eastern states also.

It might be worth reading up on Whirlpool. They have a Wireless ISP forum group.
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/18

        • @GaelicAU:

Ah yes. We have a service in Canberra called Longreach. I should have another look at it.

      • +2

The Telstra ZTE MF910 isnt 4GX. I have one, and it runs in the 700Mhz Band, yes. But the MF910 has a maximum speed of about 25Mbit (pretty bad) and not much better than my unlocked Vodafone (Huawei) 3G Pocket WIFI that does about 21Mbit (using the same network, same SIM and tested under same optimal conditions BTW). Telstra will distinctly mark "4GX" on true 4GX devices - whereas the MF910 is only marked "4G".

True 4GX takes it up to 60Mbit+ like the Netgear (Telstra 4G Advance) and even more than 200Mbit+ (using a 4GX phone):
        http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1487295997

  • Great price for the MF90 but I need one that does 700MHz (LTE Band 28) as the signal is crap at my place otherwise.

    • The MF910 is the cheapest 4GX enabled WiFi device I can find (see the above link I posted)
However its expensive - $89 (after using MAD10 to get $10 discount)

We use the higher spec'd 4G ADVANCED PRO X at work (its a re-branded Huawei) which will cost $250

      • What about this modem @ $79. Does this handle 4GX?

        http://www.dicksmith.com.au/networking-wireless/vodafone-r21…

        • +1

          Unfortunately it doesn't
          See http://www.vodafone.com/content/dam/group/devices/downloads/…

AFAIK there are only three Telstra branded WiFi dongles that supports the band 28:
          4G My Pocket Wi-Fi Plus (ZTE MF910)
Telstra WiFi 4G Advanced II (Netgear AirCard 790S)
Telstra WiFi 4G Advance Prox X (Huawei E5786)

        • +1

          @Bappy:

          Thanks for the info.

Out of interest, what speeds (up and down) are you getting with the Pro X model?

        • @GaelicAU:

We tested in Brisbane CBD and received around 35Mbps which was faster than my NBN at 25Mbps. Sorry cannot remember the upload speed… and I don't have the device with me anymore

I think its a CAT6 enabled device, so should be capable upto 300Mbps if Telstra can deliver in future.

I personally loved it, its a great looking device, doesn't get hot unlike the ZTE

I believe you can buy it outright from Telstra for $250

        • @Bappy:

doesn't the Telstra My Pocket Wifi Ultimate(Netgear Aircard 785S) also support 700Mhz(LTE)?

        • @Kenb0:

Yes it does but the 785S is not available for purchase (at least through Telstra)

I think the latest model (790S) can be purchased for $150ish

        • @Bappy:

I see. Thanks. Looks like the Ultimate model seems to have been superseded by the 790s as can't seem to find the Ultimate model for sale by Telstra anymore like you said.

        • @Bappy:
New models are coming to replace the existing ones.

      • @Bappy
As per my comment above - just because it uses the 700Mhz band, does not make it a "4GX" device. The MF910 is very slow in comparison to true 4GX devices like the Netgear Telstra 4G Advance ones. True 4GX devices are actually branded on the device as "4GX" whilst the MF910 is branded "4G".

  • Regarding MF90, after getting it unlocked, does this unit supports 4G (frequency bands - Mhz) for other network such as Optus, vodafone etc..

    • Just googled it:

The Optus 1800MHz FDD-LTE service currently supports up to 10MHz of paired bandwidth (20Mhz total). The Optus 2300 TDD-LTE service provides up to 98MHz of continuous spectrum: Optus converted the 2300MHz band into a TDD-LTE service.

Vodafone's LTE-A FDD service is being rolled out on the 1800MHz band, the same frequency band as the Telstra and Optus 4G services but with a twist - Vodafone have secured 20MHz of continuous spectrum across all states.

As of early 2015 Telstra will be launching their 4G network expansion which includes two additional carrier frequencies - 700MHz and 2600MHz, on top of their existing 1800MHz network. The expansion, coined 4GX, will provide significantly more capacity, meaning less congestion and faster average speeds.

      MF90:
      LTE 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot
      LTE 1800 MHz
      UMTS 850, 2100 MHz
      LTE downloads up to 100Mbps
      Supports up to 10 users

      http://www.zte.com.au/telstra/MF90.htm

      • This page has more specs and shows the model support 2600Mhz (but not 700Mhz).

Do you think they just left the spec out on the Telstra branded page you posted?

        http://www.ztedevice.com/product/Mobile_Hotspot/6712c639-c86…

      • May not be a biggy for most people but from what I can see, this has no SD slot.

I have a 3G wifi modem that does and comes in handy for storing large files (i.e. video & audio) rather than directly on my iPad.

      • I’m new to this type of products, but I’m assuming they come with a 4g sim card on a prepaid plan? DS website doesn’t say much on the sim plan it comes with.
I’ll be getting a 4G handset soon and would like to use the sim card on that too, so was wondering if it actually came with a number?

    weird, this deal seems better:

$15 Telstra 3G WiFi Broadband MF65 INCLUDES 2GB DATA WITH 30 DAYS EXPIRY.

    • Not weird, just different. This is a 3G modem. OP is a 4G.

        Optus 3G Wi-Fi Modem E5251 $24 (Includes 2GB DATA) <—- are you sure it's 4G ?

    • Deleted.

  • +1

    Telstra 4G WiFi Modem MF90 $29 (Includes 2GB DATA)
    Optus 3G Wi-Fi Modem E5251 $24 (Includes 2GB DATA)

Neither of the above modems has an LCD screen to keep track of data used.

The Vodafone 3G WIFI Extreme which Dicksmith is selling online for $35 does for those that prefer an LCD screen that show the extra info and don't mind an older model or slightly higher price.

    • Neither of the above modems has an LCD screen to keep track of data used.

Telstra's 24/7 app is pretty decent, and Optus has an app too that should help.

  • dudes

how to we get it priced match? (havent ever done it so pls advise)

do I need to take a print out of this offer?

    • So normally if you find a cheaper price on an identical product cheaper than officeworks they will beat it by 5%, the guy above got lucky as this hasn't even started yet :)

  • "JVC 65" FHD LED 100Hz TV $1199 (Save $500)". Looks like a good deal ?

  • A question about the mf65 - can I buy a couple of these to use in December and January - moving then and would be helpful as internet is unlikely.
It seems to be delivery only too…

  • +2

DS seems to have run out of MF90 click and collect in a lot of areas (WA). Officeworks has matched the price now http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/telstra-mf9…

  • Officeworks already adjusted the price to $29. Can't do a price match and lower 5%.

  • Officeworks provide click and collect for $29. But could not do same for dicksmith. Just ordered from Officeworks.

  • The JVC 65" TV was discounted a little today ($1,162) and the MEGA100 code is also taking another $100 off

Could be good buy at $1,062.32 today (in cart C&C price after code).

    • Anyone know anything about this TV ? Anyone bought it yet ? There are no specs within the catlog

      • I think it's a new model

  • LG Leon is sold out (and all traces of it seem to have disappeared from the website).

    • +1

It will be in store too :)

      • Yes it was! I foolishly assumed that "delivery only" on the website meant that it was only available for delivery.

        • Yeah that's what they want you to think :)
