Nexus 6 32GB, Blue or White, $489, in Stock & Ready to Ship (Not a Presale) @ Kogan

650

Hey guys,

Kogan are selling the Nexus 6 (International 32GB model, blue or white) for the same price as their presale, however this time the units are apparently ready to be posted immediately. Postage for me was approximately $23, but obviously this might differ from area to area. Might be worth a look if you aren't happy with the pricing of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, but want a relatively new Nexus phone?

Hope this helps someone!

May be a nice deal, but Kogan; Ugh.

    • +17

Not to contradict, but I used Kogan three times in the last three years (last time very recently). All was smooth, delivery faster then promised, items as described, one refund (item not in stock) was processed the same day. Maybe I was just unusually lucky, or maybe some other people were unusually unlucky?

      • +1

I used them for my samsung s5 and nikon lenses all good and within their predicted delivery times. Their deals are even sweeter when ebay has 20% off.

        • +4

but don't they jack up the prices?

      • I've never had a problem either, nor has anyone I know who's used them. Not sure if I exist in isolated bubble of good luck, or actual problems are from a very vocal minority.

      • Bought my S3 from Kogan which I'm still using. The only issue was the phone's language was in French, no biggy to change especially at the price I paid.

      • +3

The problems are not with their delivery or purchase process, rather their returns/warranty claim process when something does go wrong.

        • I've never had a problem with their returns. They've even repaired devices outside of warranty. The process was pretty quick considering you have to mail back and forth. Others have has issues but I never have.

        • @Twisted: You're one of the lucky ones then :-)

    • I've bought TV, tablet, etc from Kogan - never had a problem. My Mrs was using Kogan mobile and had paid a year in advance to get the cheap deal a couple of months before they shut it down. They refunded her the unused 10 months within a couple of days without us even calling or asking. No one I know has had a problem with them.

Used them 2 times, had problem with 2nd item:
      1. Wanted to cancel before item was shipped (hours after I ordered) but they don't do that as per their process, way out was they ship it - I receive and then send back. Not a problem but a bit lack of flexibility .. Not really a prob I should complain about I guess.
      2. But real prob was with Toll with delivery of that item.. They have timelines but don't follow it, rude cust service. That had been the pain point.

So u get wat u pay for, or might b a bit less too.

      • Unlucky. I was able to cancel the eBay lg g4 deal so I could get the qd one instead, no problems.

    • +1

Never had any issues… Got the g4 as part of their recent sale… Got the phone on the 22nd of September instead of the advertised 6th October.

      Was very impressed

      • +1

As has been said, the problem is with warranty claims, not initial delivery.

        • oh ok - luckily I've never had issues with products I've bought through them - fingers crossed :).

I guess I'll have to more careful in future with products from Kogan then

  • Mine developed a fault last night after just over 2 months. Very hit 'n miss from reading online about its reliability.

Watch out for the size - if you even want to wear tighter jeans, you'll have to make the choice between the phone and fashion. Or carry a handbag ;)

The only two companies that I put in the same category are Kogan and Megabuy = Dodgy. Buy from them if you are super desperate, don't want any customer service, will likely have issues if you try and get warranty support. Buy from someone who's not going to give you grief. Too many negatives all over the forums from these two companies.

Chuck Gearbest in that list as well

anyone knows the price of Nexus 6p?

    • +3

      Sixpence.

      • That would be 6d.

    • +5

      Starts at $899.

      • +2

WHAT???? Do they even want to sell them here????

        • Cheap compared to the new windows phones

Has anyone come across any decent deals for the old Nexus 5? Nexus 6 a bit too big for my liking.

    • Legit Nexus 5 stock would be long gone. They haven't sold them for ages.

      • Does this mean Nexus 5's are collectables now? I'm happy to sell mine at a highly inflated price then :)

      • Yes, I got one of the last ones from the Google Play store, when they had already sold out of two colours. Hopefully the 5X will come down in price early next year or so.

    • They don't make 'em any more. Warranty replacements are refurbs (I'm sorry to say.)

    • gumtree.

    • I hope the Nexus 5X doesn't cost the earth.

      • The price has already been announced…

  • When are the new nexus phones available in Australia to order?

  • when will these be delivered?

there could be a better local deal by the time these arrives

  • I +'ed this deal, but being n new owner of the new S6 through the recent 200 trade in + 210 off for $668, this deal was a week too late for me (and others im sure) to bite!

  • N6, now one year old.

    • -1

Yet still far more powerful than than the 5X which is only a week old. Also almost on par with the 6P with is nearly twice the price.

      • Shame everything else in the phone isn't up to scratch.

  • Which would have a better screen, this or a g4?

    • +1

Apparently the N6 screen isn't as good in terms of brightness and can have a pink hue.

    • g4.

      Micro-sd? Check.
      Removable battery? Check.
      Much better camera? Check.
      Smaller size? Check.

But the Nexus 6 does have the stereo speakers.

  • +2

G4 is the better phone by far.

    • Why?

      • +1

        Camera

      • +1

        Benefits of G4:

        Camera (front and back)
        SD Card support
        IR
        FM Radio
Back Buttons (depends on your preference ofcourse)
Knock Code (again depends on your preference)
        Newer specs

        Benefits of Nexus would be
        Stock Vanilla android
        faster future updates
Arguably better and more smooth performance

        • Any good deals? (I really need a new phone! D:)

        • @iamapineapple: G4 is a brilliant phone for the price.

        • N6 has AMOLED screen too doesn't it?
          Widely considered better than IPS.
I don't think it makes up for the lack of other specs though.

    • -1

The Nexus is better because Nexus.

      • That's a pro and a con.

        Pro:
        Faster updates.

        Con:
        Barebone experience, no goodies.

  • G4 is brilliant phone with one downside, the battery is poor. Seems like a s808 thing.

    • any more detail? I am looking to buy a phone with s808.

    • The battery is good, better than S6.

      • What type of battery life do you get? Maybe my idea of good is different to what your idea of good. Coming from a Note 4 my G4 is poor.

GSM rates the G4 battery life very poorly too.
        http://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3

Judging by comments on the G4 deal thread, plenty of people find the G4 has poor battery life and it seems a common trait with phones using the s808. The new Motorola that uses the same chip is poor too. I would think that it shouldn't be much different to my note 4, since it has 3000 mAh battery on a smaller screen. I don't know about the S6, GSM arena rates the S6 a lot better than the G4. I know with my Note 4 I get around double the battery life I'm seeing with my G4. And my One M8 I owned before it was significantly better too. I'd be lucky to get 3.5 hours screen time in ideal use over a day on my G4, which is pretty poor imo. Actually today I have to recharge it now at 3 pm.

The nexus is older than the G4 but it still will be better supported than the G4. It has a faster GPU, according to 3d marks scores 23k vs 18k the G4 gets. On benchmarks like Geekbench and Antutu shows that they both offer around the same performance hardware wise, but google doesn't have a skin on top of Android so is the best in terms of software performance. The battery life is better on the nexus 6.

The biggest downside is the camera with the nexus 6.

I can see why others choose the nexus series over phones like the G4.

        • I get about 3.5 to 4 hours of Screen On Time with my G4; coming from my Galaxy S3 the battery life is good. The QHD display will chew through battery faster than say the Sony Z3 or other lower res displays. Try dropping the brightness to extend battery.

        • @CLoSeR:

I would be lucky to get that with autobrightness, location settings off and powersaving mode always enabled. I think 3-3.5 hours is a best case scenario over a day for me and that is redistricting everything. Also autobrightness is very aggressive pn this phone, barely see the screen when enabled with powersaving. In comparison 4.5 to 5 is what I'd get with better brightness on my M8 and 6 hours for my note 4 without power saving mode. Use gps and then you'll easily deplete the battery in no time.

  • This is an old handset now, many newer phones with better spec's for a few more dollars.

    • Can you recommend anyi? I'm looking to spend $550
