Well today I just saw this deal. Does anyone use it? Is it worth getting it at this price?

  • Do these adhere onto the dash rather than window?.

    • +1

By the look at the design it looks like it adheres to the window..

According to DSE specs tab, it says "Suction Cup Mount Yes"
So I assume anything that works with a suction cup (ie window).

Also according to the DSE specs tab:

      Australian Made No
      Bass Boost No
      iPod Compatible No
      iPod Charging No
      iPod Dock No
      Noise Reduction No

I'm really looking for a suction cup with bass boost & noise reduction.

Wow.. I never knew that a such simple device could come with Bass boost, iPod Compatible, iPod Charging, iPod Dock and Noise Reduction. And Australian Made… ehhh.. not easy to find anything except from food which are made here in Australia..

I bought something similar from a supplier in China for $2.50 posted :)

    • Hmm… with only $7 different and it's from a local store which means I could get it by tomorrow.. Well, I might get one from Dicksmith

      • Suit yourself, depends how desperately you need it. I'd rather wait myself but I don't need it tomorrow. Still a great deal for local though. Forgot to upvote on my last comment.

I'm wary over cheap versions of things from china. Sometimes they're identical, sometimes the cheap ones are inferior. Suction cups that don't suck, plastic that degrades rapidly in the hot sun, snap tight levers that… snap… etc.

I bought a $15 cover for my tab s2 from aliexpress. It looks just like the official $60 one, even in person. But the snap-on button mechanism is loose which means the tablet can fall out easily.

          @eug:

I just tend to pay the extra couple of dollars and buy the one that everyone does (they sort by sales too). 2000+ people can't be wrong :) Always left me feeling extremely satisfied at the end of the day. Can then find exactly the same product slightly cheaper at sellers with less feedback too.

yeah, but you've been watching the price for months…..

    • Link?

      • ehhh… link to what??? Who are you talking to spy?

same concept - holds phones - different designUS$1.52 delivered from aliexpress

        • Dare say the aliexpress one is probably higher quality now

        • Cheers mate. You have one of these?

        • @spy: no. But for au$2…

  • My wife has one of these, looks and quality of the grip are good, but the suction rubber gets bit sticky and leave marks on the windscreen. Compare to this the Samsung one is much better, I have one of these for 3 years and still going fine, not sticky like this one.

    • Do you know which model the Samsung is? And how much did it cost you?

        • This Samsung one is the best windshield holder I've had so far. Have been tried lots of cheap ebay mounts but all of them falling after while, in one day to one week time. But this one never fallen so far still going strong after two months and its not wobbly like cheap ones. Only downside is that if your phone has a charging port off the center (like my HTC M7), it will block by those supports at the bottom. (therefore Ive been using phone in horizontal view when navigating so you can move the charging side to the other non obstructive end).

      • Not sure of the Samsung model, possibly the one mentioned above. I bought that at $35 at Dickies 3yrs ago.

  • This one works well. Recommend.

  • Bought it!..
    …much earlier today for $24 from JB-Hifi. Should've checked for this :(

Oh well, I'll just see my purchase as supporting a local business :)
As for the rest of you… it's worth that $9. It's a solid product.

Still got the receipt? Buy another from Dick if it's in the same packaging if you've already opened it. Then again… JB don't even refund on faulty products so…

      • i bought a portable hard drive with a gift card then 5 days later decided i didnt want it so i took it back and got a full refund in cash.

I got their Dashview Universal II (make sure you get version'II') when they did the $10.xx special and have been waiting for that pricing again as ours is superb.
Someone rubbished theirs earlier, but ours is great!
It holds my Galaxy S5 and has no trouble with it on our weekend trips that are 3 hours long with lots of bumpy country roads. Suction cup has never come off and when I took it down last week to clean the window with anti fog stuff, the suction cup was still very sticky and went straight back on the window.
This is the one, if I can link properly….. http://www.dicksmith.com.au/mobile-phone-accessories/cygnett…

  • Anyone tried http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GVA-GVAUCM-Universal-Smartphone-I… ? would like the dashview II but price is too high atm =(

    • I've got a similar product to that one, if not the same. I think they all came from a same place and all copies of Samsung's design. It's quite good, serving its purpose well so far.

If your phone has a charging port on the side (most phones don't, mine does) then the locking levers could be in the way

      • I do, but the port is in the left top corner so shouldn't be a problem.

  • Can anyone recommend something that will fit a Samsung Galaxy Tab (version 1) .. its just too damn wide for just about every available dash or window-mount system ?

  • Ordered x2 click and collect, then realised it was a different model from the previous deals. Looks like same mechanism to attach to window, but different mechanism to hold the phone. I reckon for under $10 its worth a punt. Can always return the second if its a dud. Years ago I had a $15 Cygnett that mounted to the window with the vice suction which was terrible - kept on falling off - but hopefully this is better.

  • Can it hold iphone6 plus?

  • bought this one: https://buy.garmin.com/en-AU/AU/shop-by-accesories/mounts/un…
off catch of the day about 5 years ago for about $10
i have to say is the best one.
i just put a drop of water on the suction cup, spread it around and stick it on.
i find that if i stick it on while sitting down and using 2 hands it wont fall off.
sometimes i have tried to do it 1 hand or while standing up reach in from outside of the car and it will fall off.
but if i do it proper it wont fall off, EVER.
too bad its $60 on the garmin website.

also it fits iphone 6+ JUST. i have to sit 1 side in and then push the other side in if u get what i mean, its a little too small but it will hold it firm.

  • I've spent a fortune on cheap car mounts and ended up spending $30 or so on this: Kenu Airframe Portable Car Vent Mount. Such a good buy, feels rock solid and works with a quality spring rather than a 'click' system which makes it easy to put in and remove even when using a case on your phone. Added bonus: keeps your phone from overheating and shutting down on those hot summer days! Belkin has a very similar looking unit.

  • Not the same product that your have referred to previous deals which retails for $40.

    This is a cheaper version

I too have used a Cygnet phone mount before and would never use one again. It worked for about a week and then would constantly drop off the window under normal driving conditions. I instead went for this after researching the best holders available :
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B78MT44?psc=1&redirect=t…

It is 1000000x better and I cannot fault it.

  • Anyone knows if it can hold iPhone 6 Plus?
