    Don't forget cashrewards - then it's only 96c each!

Save your $1. These are crap.

    • -2

Exactly! What are they made of?! HDMI for $1? Quality could be same as VGA…

      • +10

crap is a broad term, could people be more specific which part of the HDMI std the cables don't comply with. HDMI cables are made to a standard, and if they comply with that standard they work …… gold plating, thicker sheath, etc nicer mouldings are there to make them more appealable, they don't work better. So I hate sales people who try and sell me HDMI cables at $60 that are "better quality" ….. or "I will include the $60 cable for free"
HDMI is a digital signal, and all people need to check is which revision of the HDMI the cables is complaint with as newer std support higher speeds e.g 4k video.

Not sure about lightning cables …… apple developed them with a chip in it, which many seem to have copied …… but I'm sure even apple has a std that cables are made to, though I do notice some are more flexible than others, some have pic sheath, some silicone, etc.

        • +2

Cheap and nasty. Forget about the chip.. The materials the lighting cable is made of is just not worth bothering with.

        • What you say about the HDMI cables is absolutely true, but currently when it comes to Lightning cables not all work as well. Stick to MFi (Made For iPhone - iPad, iPod) Apple approved cables.

        • Thanks for educating me about that! I really don't know about it until i saw your comment. I always think the cheap HDMI cables even though they work the video and audio quality won't be as good as the one that has a "premium" price tag.

      • +11

I don't think you understand how digital works…

      • +1

The only reason to spend more on a HDMI cable is if you continuously pull and tug on it and the outer casing/wires break….But seeing as a cable usually just sits at the back of a TV it should be fine. If you are getting a picture than the cable is working. It either works or it doesn't, there's no better or worse.

Remember a guy at The Good Guys trying to convince me to purchase a $30 HDMI cable. I said I'd buy a $1 on Ebay. His reply was to tell me how they break etc etc. I just replied with, the picture is identical. And if it breaks I can buy another 29 and still break even.

Thanks JV .. I'll go to HN instead and spend $67 on a 2m same spec cable. (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/laser-fabric-zip-black-24-cap…). I may have to move the Apple TV further away to justify the extra 50cm… oops I mean $66.

Though the cable may be low quality - the picture will be exactly the same.
      http://www.cnet.com/au/news/why-all-hdmi-cables-are-the-same…

      • Spend that bit extra and go monster cables. Even better LOL

        • Haha Monster Cables….the biggest scam of all.

Have to admit my Aux cord in the car kept breaking (3 times) because I purchased cheap ones from JayCar and I close my glove box with the cord sticking out so it gets crushed. Decided to buy a Monster one and it's been perfect ever since. Sound quality is the same shit, but the outer casing is definitely made of better material.

        • @stevensx: I wonder if adding a couple layers of heatshrink around the crush area would protect the cable. It'd almost certainly work out cheaper.

        • @elusive: Oh definitely a way around it but clearly I'm to lazy to bother. Used a pen spring around the connector to keep it sturdy for a while longer but alas still failed eventually haha.

      • That's nice. Until they damage at the connector or the plastic sheath splits.

No one said spend 67, they said don't waste your money on crap that won't last. A good OzBargainer should never waste money

      U R hard to satisfy.
Any wine more than $10 is too expensive regardless what pedigree
A cable is crap if it's $1. How do you know So? Used the same one before?
Having said all that, I'm not convinced it's good quality unless ppl report back. But a simple cable won't cost much to be mass produced
If you only base on price, all Xiao Mi stuff would be or might have been called crap

    • +1

Actually these are not bad…. and if they dont need to be moved all the time will will produce 1080p picture for years and years. Got 2 thank OP.

    • +1

How are they crap? Will this cable not send the exact same 1s and 0s as a $100 HDMI cable? Or is it a matter of speed, this cable will only send the 1s and 0s at the speed of light, will a $100 HDMI cable send them faster?

      • Not all cheap HDMI cables are equal in quality. Yes HDMI cables are digital, and they either work or don't, but all it takes is 1 faulty wire connection out of the 19 wires to stop working.

In the past I've bought like $2 HDMI cables from MSY that stopped working after a few weeks. Probably bad termination of one of the wires that slowly gets worse over time until it loses contact to the connector.

I usually buy $5 HDMI cables from selby that I know are really good quality and still working after several years.

    • Why crap?
Bought 2 not so long ago. "May not be compatible" since iOS 9 upgrade. One failed after another within weeks., broken inside ie open circuit. Know the genuine is overpriced. don't know the solution but think $1 for 2 weeks use or no use is a waste of money and time, if you are seriously using what you buy.
Same as the "look alike" iPhone headset, $2 each. Ordered 4 at a time x 2 (twice). Every one of the eight has a lifespan of 2 days. The earpiece will fall apart. Better to buy Tangmai on eBay - Under $20 but lasts longer and better sound quality.

Read from forum.I bought two of these and had been very happy with the finish and quality as a iPhone headset.

So for those who question, try it and post some feedback after use.

The hdmi cables are good quality, I bought 10 off this seller when I bought my CCTV system.

    • I would say seller only has the hdmi's to get their rating up.

      • Yep, easy feedback.

Join eBay as a new seller, sell 2000 items for $1 each at a loss. And now you are trusted when you sell products at higher prices

      • +1

Seriously? The seller is Shopping Square with over 200k feedbacks. Been on Ebay since 2002.
MAYBE if it were a new seller tryin to get TRS with almost no feedback I could believe this.

        • Seriously… you didnt look at the hdmi cable listing… seller is homesecuritysolution(8313)… i would guess 8000 odd of that feedback is cheapass cables.

  • I think ill give these cables a go.
Ive bought many el cheapo cables off ebay and yeah some are crap but its all in the price.
Sometimes i find the cable will only work one way so just unplug it and flip it over.
Still does the job and beats paying $30 or however much it is for a genuine.

Apple should just sell them at $15RRP i bet they would get more sales for sure:

  • I try to add 3 HDMI and 2 Iphone cables to my cart and get this message.
You're currently winning or have bought the maximum-allowed number of this seller's items in the last 10 days.

i dont think ive ever bought from them off ebay before.

The HDMI link is for V1, Lightning is worth a try considering the plastic coating on belkin I bought from Dicksmith for $25 is now peeling off after 1 years use

  • I found and bought 7 of these HDMI cables at this price back before I knew OzBargain existed (otherwise I would have posted the deal) and they work perfectly. I am only currently using 3 of them but I have had absolutely no problems with any of them.

  • Thnx

  • +1

Opps HDMI listing says sold out now :-(

    • +1

I'm glad. I have too many HDMI cables already, now the temptation has been removed.

  • +1

A lot of the cheaper HDMI cables don't work because the gauge of the wire is not thick enough for the length of the cable. Nothing actually wrong with the cabling or connectors. So you really just need to be careful when buying longer HDMI cables for cheap. E.G; 5 metres +. If we're talking about 5 feet it'll probably be OK.

  • +4

Agree. Don't waste your time and money with these cheap Lightning cables. A better option would be to grab one of the 3 different $5 certified Lightning cables from this recent Officeworks deal. Don't trust these non certifies cables in terms of quality and longevity.

Also HDMI cable Sold Out. Says 0 available.

    • Noooo! I came online to buy 2

    • All Officeworks stores within half an hour of me are sold out of the lightning cables, picked up 3 of these instead!

  • I buy all my cables from eBay at this sort of price point. I think I've had 2 that don't work out of dozens purchased. If it doesn't work you chuck it out and purchase another, you'll still be waaay ahead compared to paying retail.

Never had a faulty HDMI from eBay either.

5 ft HDMI cable? Definitely not Australian.

    • Roughly 1.5m. better?

  • What the hell do people do to their cables?
I have never in my entire life damaged ANY of my cables, be they for power/audio/video/headphones/etc i just don't get it, how rough are some of you being!
It's $1 FFS how high could your expectations possibly be!?

  • Aaand the HDMI is out of stock.

  • The $1 lightning cable works but it is not manufactured under Apple lightning license.

Firstly it will be very thin gauge cable so it won't be able to charge at maximum current you will find charging time longer. Second, don't pull or tug on it, won't last very long. Copper work harden so after some usage it will eventually break due to thin wires. Copper cost money so the thinner the cheaper it is.

Even the original Apple lightning cable is not as reliable, check out Apple own webstore plenty of negative reviews.

The security chip is long cracked there was an older chip that didn't work on later IOS but the Chinese quickly catch up once apple implement the useless check.

  • My HDMI cable got posted today and I am surprised that I got a tracking number.

  • The lightening cable doesn't work when plugged into laptop USB.
But does work if you plug into mains.
