Unfortunately, it's made in China, however, I personally think it's good value as is.

If you are eligible for AMEX 15% Off $100+ USD, the final price comes out to be USD $152.95 + USD $10.25 Shipping, AUD $223.93 in total.

Without AMEX Offer:
USD $190.20, AUD $261.04 Shipped

I've not included green one while it is cheaper (USD $0.72) as it would take 1~2 months before it is shipped and the shipping is slightly higher. However, that's an option if you want a green one.

Exchange rate used was:
$1 USD to $0.73 AUD from Google.

Technical Spec:

Frequency response: 10 Hz - 39.8 kHz

Input impedance: 62 Ohms
Sensitivity: 105 dB SPL/V

8.29 oz (235 g)

Lowest price from staticICE is AUD $339.

  • This or m50x

    • The m50x are a lot bassier and they're closed headphones whilst these are open backed and 'airy'. Also these would probably require a decent amp to give them the oomph whilst I'm sure the m50x sound as they should out of nearly anything.

      • But these are only 62 Ohms, why would they need an amp? They're not hard to drive at all…

        • I think sensitivity might be slightly low (at least, I think that was the explanation given from forums I've looked at). Though I am not too sure whether an amp is necessary, I found that people tend to overestimate what an amp can do and underestimate the devices that they own; Placebo effects are really hard to tease apart for an individual.

    • Q701 is far more detailed and much better soundstage. They're considered to be proper hifi headphones.

m50x is more of a mid-range general use headphone. Sounds completely different. Q701 needs to be properly amped, otherwise they sound kind of lifeless.

    • I would say Q701 if you have a good amp / soundcard and don't have a noisy background. If you're going to use it mainly outside on a phone/mp3-player then go the m50x.

  • So are the Q701's from say headphones.com.au made somewhere else? I am confused by the china comment.

    • As far as I know, they've moved their manufacturing place from Austria to China long time ago, it's almost impossible to grab Austrian made one. I added that in because that was mentioned in previous deals on Ozbargain.

From what I've heard, they are indistinguishable. That said, many people would prefer Austrian one over Chinese one I assume?

    Not available to Australia

    • Make sure your seller is Amazon (Amazon changed vendor on the page you get to someone who's cheaper but only sells in US), I've got the shipping cost from review section right before the purchase.

Also, I am seeing both of them being available for shipping at my end.
