  • Spoke to JB on twitter and "at this stage it's only a pre order price". But who knows if that will change…

  • +13

    To answer a few questions:
    -Its isn't a price error
-It is available in store at $59 and they don't know when it will end as the system doesn't have an end date
    - Shipping info is as follows "Your online pre-order will leave our Melbourne warehouse via Australia Post one business day prior to the official release date. Please allow 3 business days for delivery"

I have no connection with JB I Just love the deal as much as the rest of us and wanted all the info and thought I'd share.

    • I ordered a few blurays off them online recently, came very quickly considering the website suggested some may be a little delayed too.. I'd expect this day of launch or the day after given that.

      • For those wondering, they use toll to send their games the day before. The last game I got with them was witcher 3 and i got it the day of release.

    • +1

I pre-ordered 'Watch Dogs' from them and true to their word they sent it the day before because I actually got it the morning of release at around 8:00-8:30….before their B&M store even opens. So technically you may even get it quicker via mail :D

    • So it's in-store too? Sweet.
Might make a trek down to JB this arvo then…

    • +2

Of course not a price error - the Gamesmen had it on special for $59 a few months back too for the pre-order.

Was tossing up between PC (good price) and PS4 (fantastic price).

Ended up going for the PC version as mods will make the game amazing, much like skyrim.

True, mods may come eventually for PS4, but it won't be as easy or complete as it will be on PC.

    • Same debate for me. Went for PS4 version due to resale value! Just bought a 4K TV too after all these damn bargains recently, so maybe should have gone PC…

    • same debate went on in my head, ended up getting on on PC also

      • You can always connect a gamepad or PC to a TV anyway.

        • PC here, I'll do a mix of both…..depends if I want to lay in bed or sit at my desk….. I want to upgrade to a xbone controller tho..

    • Nothing beats Keyboard and Mouse for accuracy in FPS.. PC all the way!

      • Yeh , but in fallout, you should be using VATS ;D
Not exactly a twitch response game…

        • Watching the video/presentation today (at PAX) it can certainly be played more like such than prior fallouts. They worked with the ID software guys to make such a more viable approach rather than being so VATs dependent.

  • I don't know what to do here…i pre-ordered at JB with a tenner last week…if I pre-order this its delivery only so gamble that its ready and with me on that day.

If i keep my pre-order then i might pay more but i'm guaranteed same day.

    Decisions…..

    • Just ring them and ask if the $59 price applies to your current order? Make sure to take a screenshot of their website with the new price too.

    • +4

Your instore pre-order will only come to $59 too.

This $59 pre-order is instore and online.

      • Thanks mate that's awesome. What a price.

  • Big W deal is still better for me - as I want the guide.

But this is an amazing price for a disc copy of the game. I cant see anyone else going lower.

    • +4

The guide is expected to be around the $29.95 or so from most shops. Given you pay $10 more for the Big W pricing, plus another $20 to buy the guide at the "discounted rate", you are no further ahead..

  • This is a pre-order deal only.

  • This is like the good ol Dick Smith pre-order deals. Every new game was $59 for the new consoles, have games still on my backlog from all that buying!

Any chance of Black Ops going to $59?

    • may be on eBay groupbuy soon

    • I got DriveClub for $44 brand new on preorder from Dick Smith(received launch day too). :P
Combined free shipping Friday, with the $10 preorder discount, plus a 20% promotion they were having. Dick Smith wised up pretty quickly to those sorts of deals though…

    • Black Ops 3 is $64 at Big W.

  • Wish it was for digital download.

    • +3

Retail copies come with a Steam key. If you didn't want to use the discs to install (or don't have a disc drive), just use the code on Steam and you can download the game.

      • Sorry, I meant for Xbox One.

        • Ah my bad. I was thinking PC because I'd just pre-ordered 3 copies for myself and friends :P

  • The question is PS4 or PC hmmmm

    • pc if you have GTX 970 or better I guess.

      • +1

You definitely don't need a 970 to run this.

        • to max it out you might need one.

        • @Ryxxi:
But to make it run better than the ps4 you wouldn't need one

        • :) gtx 970 I have….

PC!! I couldn't imagine playing this without a keyboard and mouse.

      • +7

I couldn't imagine playing it without a controller!

        • +6

Fortunately, there's a platform that allows you to use both. Choices… all about the choices.

That said, probably going to get this for my PS4 because the price is right and my PC is getting old.

        • +4

Couldn't imagine playing it without mods..

        • +1

          @scrimshaw:
I just started f'ing around and cheating and never finish the game if I buy it on PC, so thats why I always get it on console.
Noting that I had to wait like 6 months to finish skyrim because of a bug that I probably could have console command'd out of on PC.

In reality, looking at prior releases of fallout, you just buy it for your platform of choice and hope yours isnt the one that crashes every hour or corrupts save data randomly. :P

        • +2

Do what I do and g the best of both worlds - xbox wireless controller on PC plugged into a TV.

Super high detail, resolution and frame rates that the PC has over consoles but with a controller and TV experience.

There's some games I prefer using a controller on, but Fallout won't be one of them. Mouse and keyboard on the 27" 1440p ultra settings all the way.

        • @c0balt: Hard core graphics fan gamers are always going to be PC. Me, I gave up on it years ago. Just too frigging expensive. I mean for the last three gnerations of consoles, a moderately decent PC graphics card has been more expensive than buying a console.

PC gaming was a lot of frigging about though…

It is better now that you can use controllers on PCs though, sometimes with native support, sometimes third party drivers like with the DS4.

Can you play with keyboard and mouse on consoles? Never felt the need to try.

        • @Mobe1969: Don't fall into the trap of forgetting console games are nearly always more expensive, it's much harder to fix a broken console on your own then it is a computer, most people are going to have a computer anyway so they may as well make it a gaming rig, I'm not sure if it's the case now but you used to have to pay for online with xbox. Etc, I think it ends up being at least even in cost and you get a lot more out of a pc. But to each their own really, some people just want the easy way and don't mind losing a few advantages and that's fine, it's exactly why apple exists.

    • -1

      Consider resale value too.

      • Not everyone sells their games.

    • +1

      PC for better mod support.

    • PC for the mods. Although I hear that Xbox One is going to release mods for this game too which will be cool if executed well.

I've only got a PS4 so choice is easy for me haha

      • +1

PC for console commands, we need console command for debugging buggy quests.

  • Thank God I didn't pre-order last week like I was going to..

  • Thanks! Just preordered with gift cards I purchased last year and completely forgot I had.

  • any chance black ops 3 will drop to this price aswell?

    • Black Ops 3 will be $64 on release day at Big W.

      • i know but 59 would be cheaper.

  • +1

I made an order but i can't remember what did I click PS4 or PC ?????

IS THERE A WAY TO CHECK ? HELP !

Edit : Never mind had to click on the title and directed me to PS4 , good deal !

    • +1

Go to your order confirmation email, copy and paste the SKU code of your item into JB's search bar on their site and the result will be what you ordered.

    • +1

Either the email you would have got or go to your order section, top right of the website.

    • +1

the question is, which are you hoping you clicked?

      • +1

PS4 for the resale value mainly, good deal !

  • Geez, over 2000 clicks in 1hr 30 mins. Hope they actually have stock!

  • Well im in on this :D

  • +1

Is this deal going to be present on thursday? I usually go shopping Thursday and would like to pre-order in-store

  • -1

and they couldn't do this for NBA 2k16???

  • Already have pip boy edition on order for PS4. Thinking I should get this on PC instead.

  • Went over to JB in Oxley as soon as I saw this and even the staff were surprised about the price! Gonna be hard to beat that's for sure.

  • +4

WTF People. I was hoping to not loose countless hours in FO4…….not only is my gaming urge compleling me to purchase but my bargain urge is egging him on.

Thanks OP, I give in :-)

  • Don't preorder anything

    • +5

Fallout is a pretty much guaranteed winner. Bethesda put a lot of love into their games and it shows really well.

      • +2

Yep, I stand by not preordering anything EXCEPT Bethesda games. Last pre-order was Skyrim (or New Vegas, whatever was more recent).

        • +5

Except bestheda games are probably some of the buggiest, most broken messes at release date.
Anyone remember the first 3 months of fallout 3 on xbox 360? Crashing randomly every 30min-1hour, save often! What about fallout new vegas on ps3? Save data corrupting and memory loss for over 6 months. Lets not even get into oblivion's mess. There were also large portions of gameplay many people couldnt complete in skyrim for 3 months due to an error in the quests and the guards being permanantly mad at you in a certain city.

I'm not drinking the haterade, just bestheda takes a while to fix issues that should have been found during beta testing. These games are always a far greater experience 6 months later when the GOTY edition comes out.

        • ….Skyrim (New Vegas was not made by Bethesda), and Skyrim was 2011, New Vegas was 2010.

        • +3

          @stevensx:
          Still their buggy engine :P

        • +1

@RI4V4N: lol, replying to the comment above yours but New Vegas definitely had the most bugs out of any game. Yes, Skyrim saves compounded creating masssive files which would crash games etc. I agree with you. But their games are so good that you want it straight away (this is coming from a guy who always waits a few months, buys game second hand on gumtree for $40 and puts it in the ps4 and waits for a bloody 10gb update file which fixes all the bugs).

EDIT: Oh, and great that you've played Oblivion. That game literally changed how I viewed games forever. Best Bethesda game ever made. Imho best game ever made full-stop.

        • @stevensx:
Sure, but did you get it when it first came out?
Fallout 3 was also pretty buggy, i dont think a lot of people picked it up at release which is why its not talked about as much, but it had random game crashes every 30min-1hour on all platforms for like 3 months.

        • @RI4V4N: I picked up Fallout 3 on the first week of release. Was actually a lot younger so didn't have a lot of money and remember borrowing it from Blockbuster. A few bugs here and there but certainly did not experience random game crashes like you are describing :/

        • @RI4V4N: I played Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim all on release date, to completion. Occasional crashes in New Vegas are the only bugs I encounter. I'm not worried about Fallout 4, and definitely don't wanna wait.

        • @theguyrules:
For me, fallout 3 was far worse than NV (probably because I didnt get NV on a ps3). Fallout 3 actually was reported on major game sites to have the game crashing randomly every 30min-1hr, just seems because it wasnt as popular, people dont remember it as much.

    • +7

You should only preorder certain games. Sequels of successful franchises are safe bets. Single Player RPG games based off previously successful games are also safe bets.

Multiplayer focused games like Star Wars Battlegrounds, Evolve and TitanFall are best left until the game releases, because you never know if there will be a big enough player base.

      • +1

Yes, it isn't like when the next GTA game comes out, people will be thinking "I wonder if I should hold off buying it, in case it isn't good"

        :)

That said, if this was full price, I'd be waiting. Waiting for the inevitable GOY edition… I've got such a backlog of games I'm on at the moment, I'm gonna be playing them until a GOY shows up…

        • +1

Yes. Fallout does not have multiplayer matchmaking anyway, so it doesn't have the same product life-cycle as multiplayer shooters, where it's 'enjoyability' decreases as the multiplayer population decreases over time.

So it does not matter if you were a 'late adopter' and bought the game a couple of years after release. Even Skyrim is still enjoyable.

        • +1

@scrimshaw: Sweet, I'll get mine in 5 years

        • @muncan:

There's always a relevant XKCD to every situation, isn't there.

          So meta

          https://relevantxkcd.appspot.com/

        • @scrimshaw: Good point on multiplayer and server and player popularity. Fortunately I have as much interest in online gaming as eating barbed wire. The possibility of GOY editions with useful content to me I guess do seem less and less likely these days. Like they don't much bother making any great single player DLC anymore (like with GTA IV, Fallout 4) and just do multiplayer stuff, which is of no value at all. I think the only current gen game I've seen with a goy so far has been Shadows of Mordor. I'm not sure if any of that DLC was single player.

  • +3

thanks , wasn't going to buy it but as its a bargain I had to try it..

    Cheers

  • Waiting for VPN deal like GTA V and Witcher III one

    • how much was it?

      • ~$40 AUD.

It's what I'm hoping for also.

  • +1

Ive been against pre-orders for the past 3 years. But i couldn't help myself thanks OP.

  • Buy through Big W for cheaper guide?
    Delivered or pick up?
    Take day off or work?
    Arghhh decisions!

    • +2

Buy through this, I personally found the guide to be inaccuate (solely from the fact that I saw many people on wiki going "guide says this, but it was wrong").

  • Never understood why this game is so popular.

    • +7

This deal might not be for you then

    • +1

Haha I feel sorry for you just because you're missing out on something pretty special for gamers.

    • This game that hasn't been released yet?

  • Does anybody happen to know if ebgames will price match pre-order for pre-order? I've got some gift cards I wouldn't mind using..

    • +1

Read above at my previous comment. Ctrl + F 'stevensx'. Short answer, yes, but only on release day.

    • +1

They price matched one of those DSE $50 preorders for me so it's worth a shot.

  • +1

    now to buy a PS4…

  • +1

Big red writing - not for international orders… These are obviously spectacular prices.
