Awesome price, whether this TV will survive in the long run is another matter but I have had both cheap and expensive TV's stay the course. I'd probably bite the bullet if I were in the market.

my unknown brand tvs still working, bought a branded one and only lasted 2 years…

      • Yeah funny that isn't it.

I've been exceptionally lucky with TVs, the last one to die was an old CRT. My brand and non-brand flat screens all going good. Including a "Palsonic" (not to be confused with Panasonic) which is over 9 years old now. We've been wanting the thing to die to have a reason to replace it but it just won't, even survived several house moves.

So based on my experience I wouldn't hesitate to buy this TV. I do like a quality brand for our main TV but don't really care about brands for any others.

  • listing says free delivery, but description says $15 delivery as it's a bulky good.
    ???

    • Free postage on orders over AU $75.00 when you buy targetau's other eligible items, and use the cart to make your purchase.

  • bought!

  • i think its time to upgrade my 7 year old lcdtv….they ddnt charge $15 postage…

  • No delivery fee…happy days

Where is the 42 Onix UHD tv??

    • Yes would have been $300 for a 4K TV.

  • Can this be used as a computer monitor?
    Specifically:
    - Any noticeable input lag?
    - Does it support 1:1 pixel mapping?

    • I don't see why it wouldn't. It has VGA and HDMI input.

      • The main problem is if it doesn't support 1:1 pixel mapping, then text would be blurry, not crisp and clear.
Several years ago HiSense TVs don't have this 1:1 pixel mapping support.
From a Whirlpool discussion I read last year seems Dick Smith TVs even now don't support 1:1 pixel mapping.

        • Is that why my DSE TV looks so bad connected to my computer? I could never figure out what could possibly make it look so bad over HDMI.

        • @Benno123: Yep. That's why it's important to make sure a TV has 1:1 pixel mapping if you plan to use it for a PC.

        • I had a TCL 50 inch maybe 2 years ago before I sold it. This also didn't have 1:1 pixel mapping. It's annoying if you connect a PC because you will get overscan.

        • @so3n:

my $399 50" TCL has 1:1 pixel mapping in the service menu

        • @CVonC: lol this would have been good 2 years ago! Don't get why they have to have this option hidden

        • +1

@CVonC: wait a sec just read your comment in that post. Is that true 1:1 pixel mapping or just correcting overscan? I don't believe this is the same thing.

        • @so3n:

          well 100% overscan = 1:1

but yeah.. just re-checked the TCL, it doesn't get to 100% :(

even the shitty Sonic 48" does that D:

        • OK, so in general Dick Smith and TCL should be avoided.
Does anyone have this TV and able to find out if it supports 1:1 pixel mapping?
          Thanks.

  • Now out of stock… between the time I clicked on order to try and pay, it went out of stock :)

  • and its gone…

  • imagine if we had a strong dollar these would be selling for $199!

  • That's insane! Shame I missed out- needed a new gaming moniotr.

Tho I suspect his is not a good gaming monitor? Input lag?

  • FFFF missed this!

  • Received - box is a lot smaller than I thought haha.
