Saw "$109/480GB" and got excited :(

    • same here :(

    • yep got me aswell.

  • really love to put a SSD into my Acer Aspire 5634 wlmi but worried about getting the right one. To the best of my googling my interface is 1.5 but the 120gb Sandisk is Interface: SATA Revision 3.0 (6 Gb/s) would this be backward compatible ?
my hard drive is Hitachi HTS54161 120gb rev SBDO scsi0

    • My guess is this would be fine but you won't get the full benefit of the SSD. I put my EVO 850 in my mum's old Asus F3sg (sata 1.5) and it worked. It was a fair bit faster but didn't work miracles.

    • SATA is backwards compatible so you don't have to worry about anything. You will only get max speed for your version of SATA interface but it will still work.

      • thanks cheers

      SATA 1.5 isn't a spec but SATA 1 is 1.5Gbps.

You will be capped at about 150MBps, or about 1/3 of the full speed, however the random speeds will still be fast. Basically it will flog the existing HDD even if it's running at 1/3 its full speed.

And it will be backwards compatible

    Are you the new TA?

  • What's the difference between "Plus" and "Ultra II"?

    • +2

Plus is the newer value line.

Performance wise Ultra II is a little bit faster.. not a big difference

  • Which 240gb sad for the Dell inspiron 15 7000 from the recent deal?

  • (obligatory what about mSATA post)

    • Won't somebody think of the mSATA's!?

  • No deal! on the 120GB drive. it can be had for $59 at eglobaldigitalcameras and $61 at megabuy
It's even been $55 with a bonus 32gb Micro SD card recently.
So self respecting Ozbargainer would buy this.

    • You realise my price includes postage? Yours don't..
