Damn that's super cheap for that kinda ram……. is PNY any good?
I just paid $150 for slower ram from ebay (but got my voucher)

    • I never bought PNY RAM myself, and I if you click the link, there're only 4 customer reviews on this product so far. I don't know about this man…

Can someone confirm if this brand is legit?

      • If you click the Camelx3 link, you'll see this variant has only been out since August 10

Right I see, errrr, I'll pass haha

      • Scope out the same product on Newegg? might see a few more reviews.
PNY has been around for a while and… theoretically the modules themselves are probably only made from a handful of manufacturers.

I often dumb gamer dork nerds (me, many years ago) endorse too much ram in a system "NAH MAN, YOU NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED 16GB!!" and people have been advocating 16GB on forums I frequent for nearly 3 years (!!)
That being said……….. I think it's kinda time, now - finally.
Considering that 12GB Batman fiasco, but also, it's cheap and heck - I've been doing some very basic graphics editing and using a 64bit web browser and DAMN - I've managed to get my machine down to 1gb ram free easily in the past couple of weeks, very easily.

        • 16GB? No, son, it's 32GB time.
/me pushes another 2 sticks in and watches email load that much faster…

@tessel: /me pushes another 2 sticks in so Google Chrome can keep 3 more tabs open…

          @pbjabba:
That's the spirit! All aboard the 32GB train…

      • I've had only in my PC for a few years now without problems, I also have their sd cards and sub stick……no issues either

Been around for Yonks…. couldn't say anything positive nor negative about them

  • They do made USB flash drives and quite popular within the OZB community.

    • pity they were the worst flash drives i ever used :(

I've had PNY ram in my system for 4 years. 24/7 machine. No dramas.
But with like any batch, there could be an issue.
Amazon have great CS and returns though??

      See below..

I currently returning a kit of PNY to amazon..

its a very very painful experience..

I've been refused a full refund.. despite the kit arriving DOA..
had to opt for a replacement.. or lose around $50 out of pocket… they will NOT confirm in writing whether all my postage costs will be refunded..

  • I paid around $230 for the same spec G.Skill RAM 2 years ago, damn this is cheap.

  • PNY is quite a common name in the 2nd tier US marketplace.

i use a whole assortment of PNY kit, including their wonderful PNY Optima SSDs at a delightful price…

  • How about Corsair compared to PNY for a little more?

    • You know that's another US$20? :P

  • Any good 1600MHz 16GB Desktop RAM deals?

  • Just realized my Core2Duo's MB can only take DDR2 RAM =(
Any good 8GB RAM deals for DDR2 desktop?

I agree its really really cheap.. but…

Don't Do it.. currently sending back a kitof 4x8gb XLR PNY Cas 9 1600 sticks.. which arrived DOA
At least 2 sticks are faulty.. have wasted of 10hours and testing in three different machines.. (did this within two days of arrival).

Spent about 50 minutes on the call international to the Amazon US..(thank god for VOIP)

Amazon refuse to refund postage and the full amount paid for the kit.. Paid $139.99 USD - 15% plus postage.. Refund was going to be $120.99 including all postage costs (my postage costs of more than $30).. plus the ram had to be returns within 30 days.. which they refused to extend..

Accepted a replacement instead.. about $35 to send back insured (but not tracked) and had to give them a credit card surety of $139.99 if the RMA didn't arrive back in 30 days..tracking and insurance would have cost over $63.. and they will only refund $15usd postage (I will to argue this again).

Plenty of horrible reviews on the kits.. only around a 73% satisfaction rate.. people getting multiple faulty modules..

    I can't imagine the DDR3-2133… being any more reliable….

    • Did you check the rma with pny directly? Can submit it through their site

  • Amazon customer service is spot on! I brought a knife that I shoved into lock to open it the lock.the tip of the knife snapped told amazon full story they sent out a new knife with like 3 day shipping can't beat that! Paid nothing for my stupidity but you should be able to bump a lock with a knife! They didn't even ask for the knife back…

    • I've usually had no trouble with Amazon returns..

When stuff goes missing, or damaged, its replaced without any issues at all..Like you said.. if its cheap..its usually replaced.. and you get to keep the original dodgy item.. if postage is too prohibitive.. (I remember arguing once whether, they really were going to pay for $50 return postage, for an item only worth $30… eventually they came to their senses and said not to bother).

However this was the first reasonably price item, I've had DOA /faulty from them.. and despite 50 minutes on the phone to them.. I was unable to obtain a full refund and including return postage..

I'll be thinking twice before buying any potentially high priced dodgy item from them.. unless you are saving mega bucks..from buying the item..

I was very very surprised my their response.. but their were no budging from them..
